The restaurant is so much bigger and livelier and were so excited to see all of their success. Definitely come early to be able to try their brisket and Tony Mac! You wont regret anything you try but those are defnitely our favorites. Oh and the ribs, if you're looking for the incredible smokey juicy flavor look no further. Any of their bbq sauces are great and pair well, but we highly recommend giving their original a go because of the perfect balance of sweet, savory, with a bit of a kick.

Our waitress came quick enough to get our order, it's just that the food took a while. Maybe the side with counter walk-up is quicker. I ended up getting the catfish sandwich with fries and of course tried all the bbq sauces with the fries. The catfish was fried perfectly and the seasoning on the outside was quite tasty. Made for a very good sandwich. The fries were a little soggier/more oily than I would like, but I did use them to try the sauces. None of them were overly spicy, just a good flavor. I think my favorite was the Memphis which had a nice smokiness to it. For dessert I did end up ordering the key lime pie and was very happy with it. Tangy and refreshing! I somehow managed to save some for the next day and it was just as good. Overall, the food was good and the staff was friendly, it just took a while to get the food. There was a lot of to go business, so that's maybe the best way to order.

So, we traveled 2,200 miles in the winter. One of the places I expressively wanted to take them was to Brown's Chicken for the fried mushrooms. Back in the day I would go to Brown's sometimes and end up buying all of their fried mushrooms. After a while, they began to limit how much you could buy at one time. I don't know if they still do that, but it was really good back then. One day while on our visit we went to Brown's and ordered the fried mushrooms. It smelled great, but unfortunately they didn't taste the way they smelled. You could tell that the oil was probably old and the mushrooms had an odd taste. Likely old mushrooms. It was very disappointing. And just as unfortunately, one of the other spots I had been bragging about for years with my wife was Hillary's BBQ. It turned out to be disappointing as well. The Q was over cooked and not hot. The sauce was still there, but over all it was just as disappointing as Brown's old mushrooms. So much for nostalgia.

It was so overcooked that we couldn't eat it. I returned the pizza and asked for a refund. They offered to make another one, but I was told it would take another 25-30 minutes. After already waiting and dealing with the inconvenience, I simply didn't want to wait that long, so I left and had to go somewhere else to buy food. What was especially disappointing was the lack of customer service. This experience completely ruined our evening, and considering the inconvenience and frustration, I expected some type of gesture from the restaurant--perhaps a voucher or coupon for a future pizza. Other well-known Chicago pizza places, such as Giordano's and Lou Malnati's, understand the importance of making things right when a customer has a bad experience. Unfortunately, this restaurant did nothing to make up for the situation. A burnt pizza can happen, but how a business handles a mistake says a lot about its customer service. Based on this experience, I will think twice before ordering from here again.

While I consider myself a foodie, I had little interest in driving around the Waukegan area the night I visited Anastasia's. At first it appeared to be a great choice--myriad people in the bar area talking, eating, and reacting to the televised game. I ordered a glass of wine to start; the pour was rather skimpy. Tempted to order another, I realized a single glass was on the border of my daily alcohol per diem?! I decided to forgo the pizza special for wings and cheese curds. The resulting dishes provided a healthy amount (see picture), however, taste (as other Yelpers note) was average. When you rack up $55 for cheese curds, wings, and a glass of wine, AND you leave feeling 'meh'--for me, Anastasia's is an easy, "Well, I tried it..." experience. I think my next two visits for work will be branching out to the surrounding area for alternative dinner options.
