Buffalo Park is an amazing local park. Great views of the mountains. There are multiple well cared for paths that take you around the good sized park. Lots of birds and various wildlife. I even saw a baby gopher snake. They have some outdoor exercise equipment as well. There are bathrooms near the entrance and everything is well maintained. Definitely worth a visit!

After reading up on Buffalo Park, I knew that would fit my needs. Arriving around 7 am on a random weekday, the lot was already 3/4 full. Lots of runners and walkers getting their morning workout in. There's a 2 mile loop that is well signed and easy to follow, as well as off shoots of trails for longer hikes, including the Arizona trail. Since I was short on time, I mainly stuck to the loop and then did maybe 1/2 a mile on the Arizona trail out and back so I could get an even 3 miles in. Nicely maintained paths and wonderful views of the mountains. Really well done urban park that seems to be a local favorite.

Please…read morewear your snow boots and snow pants because after it snowed, there were areas that were 2ft deep. If you stay closer to the parking lot, the snow is shallow. We checked out the whole perimeter and it was a very good size! Lots of families having fun in the snow. We'll be back. :) Tip: if you see shrubbery, the snow is low enough to cross. If you don't, the snow is too high. Don't gauge on trees or baby trees. During the warmer months this park is used to observe wildlife, so come back and bring binoculars then.

Located near the university, this park is really more of an "educational" destination up front, with a few picnic tables, a lizard garden, a butterfly garden, a pond, etc. But it's also a trailhead for a trail that you can take as long as you like. We went on a Monday afternoon, and there were cyclists, joggers, people with dogs.... It wasn't crowded, necessarily, but it seems to be popular with the locals. It's nice and flat, too. We did about a three mile out & back with our dogs, and it was just right! And of course we treated our canine companions to a treat at the Dog Haus afterward! (Not in the park!)

Amazing 5 mile out and back hike here. Elevation gain is about 1,100 feet in 2.5 miles, a few steep…read moresections but nothing extreme. The views along the trail are spectacular. Be sure to sign in and out of the metal log book at the trail head. Access is from highway 64, at USFS fire road 191. Travel 2 miles to the trailhead and parking area. Parking is well designated with plenty of room. We traveled in a 4wd pickup, but access during dry weather is accessible by passenger car or high clearance SUV. This trail like most others in Arizona is dog friendly, with leashes and good trail manners. We hiked the first week of June and brought 6L/200 ounces of water for us and the pups. At this elevation you'll need it. The summit rewards you with 360 degree views of Snow Bowl, Mt. Kendrick, and the Grand Canyon in the far distance. Well worth the drive from Flagstaff and the view from the top!!

However, you place me in pretty much any venue, restaurant, hotel, in Flagstaff or any mountain town as wonderful as Flagstaff, it would take a LOT for me to actually say something bad. I have ZERO bad things to say about the Flagstaff Ranch Golf Club. This place is like...ok like, God took a piece of Heaven and placed it right here on earth, in the US, in Flagstaff, AZ. The golf course is probably one of the most beautiful golf courses I've ever seen. Not too many other can compare to this one. While you play, you have the small (man-made) lake/pond thingy (lol) in the center, with the woods in the first background, yes, I said the first background because this place has two backgrounds. The second is the view of the INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL San Francisco Peaks. There is this gigantic cliff on the course, off to the side that looks like is traveled over from Sedona, got tired and was like...what a perfect place to land with that amazing view of the Peaks, Haha! My close friend got married here. We've known each other for almost 20 years. We may live far apart and may not talk every day, but the friendship is there and always will be. So when I saw that she and her new hubby chose this place, I couldn't have thought of a more perfect place for those 2 wonderful people to marry. Ok, so, back to the review lol. The actual building looks like your classic mountain lodge type. I wonder if they have rooms people can rent out or like small cabins? Hmmm! Anyway, this place is immaculate!! I have a dream, been a lifelong one to live in the mountains, in a small, but big enough mountain lodge style home. So when I go to a place like this one, I'm like a fat kid in a candy store! Eyes all wide like a deer in the headlights, running around looking at everything the way a chubby kid does when he looks at all the candy he wants but his mom is always like..."hell no! You get one!" Haha! My "one" would be...me having a home that looks like this place, not in size, just appearance haha, and that has KILLER views like this place does! Back to the fat kid, like every fat kid in a candy store, they get sad when they have to leave... I was so sad I had to leave hahaha! So basically, this place is absolutely incredible and I couldn't think of a better place to get married and for Jen to get married. I told her that I would steal her idea if I ever got married....not gonna happen, but I'd love a place like this to get married at :) The staff. They were all incredibly nice people. There was one girl tho, younger one, who was watching the doughnut table. She was a tad intense, not very friendly, almost too militant. Take it down a notch, sis, haha! It's a wedding. We were there to have fun and you should too...or maybe not work big events like that? There was a guy, I believe his name was, Antonio. Talk about one very sweet human. Very friendly, very attentive, he was on top of his work...and did it all with a smile. All other staff I came in contact with (other than militant doughnut girl) were very nice people. The food was fantastic! Not your typical wedding food. The same "do you want chicken or fish?" This was a mix of so many things. Jen is Mexican, so there was a variety of Mexican food and a variety of American type foods. There were chicken sliders and beef sliders, the MOST AMAZING macaroni and cheese lol, waffle fries, salads, I mean, all kinds of things! I loved how they decided to have this vs the regular things you'd eat at a wedding. So, I mean, I loved this wedding, venue, the people who were there...it was a perfect weekend. Only sad thing was...I didn't get enough time in Flagstaff and didn't get enough time with my friend who got married. Everything went so fast. Wouldn't mind another weekend down there to revisit my old stomping grounds (I lived in Flag and I have a very special love for that city) and to spend some time with, Jen :) Ok, as always, I'm sure I'm running out of room per Yelps rules, standards, yada, yada, yada Haha! However the guide was very hard to understand and his lack of knowledge about flaura and fauna was shocking given how much the trip cost. The pre recorded audio was ok, but a real guide would have customized the trip to the time of year and the specific flowers in bloom and perhaps identified scat and tracks or otherwise found ways to share some passion for the canyon. There was also a mixup regarding the hike so I didn't get to do the one thing I was looking forward to most. Overall I would not recommend.

We were very disappointed in this tour. My son had never seen the Grand Canyon, and I remember…read morebooking a tour that took us to the south rim overlook, and also down to the Colorado river water level, as well as a stop in an Indian reservation. I chose this only because it was the top result in the google search I made. Instead of the view of the grand canyon, we got to spend over seven hours in a smaller bus, with no air conditioning for much of the time captive inside on a very hot day. Much of the tour time was spent in construction traffic on the road, and on a very dusty bumpy dirt road. There was not much of a view where we were, and the water was very muddy and dirty, compared to other locations higher up the river in the canyon, which of course is out of the control of operators. This tour was twice the money as other options, but I felt we got much less than other tours. Other tour reviews rave about the great food, but in this case, we got a subway box meal. Our driver left for a section of the tour when we got to the river, causing us to be hassled by a local ranger, who wanted to know who was on the tour and to see our permit. I was not able to provide the permit for our tour bus, and he stayed by my child until we could find the driver who had the permit. We never went to the Grand Canyon Park, or the overlook, and this tour wasted our entire day on our limited vacation. Unfortunately, our efforts to get into the park the next day were thwarted by very heavy weather, and so we will have to actually see the grand canyon another time a few years from now. This tour went through the town of Seligman, an interesting and historical section of old Route 66, and the inspiration for the Disney movie "Cars", but did not even stop there. We saw other tour buses let people out for pictures and to walk around, but not this tour. Very disappointed. I cannot imagine who this tour is designed for, but I would not recommend it to anyone.
