I love this place - a little easy-to-miss bakery inside the main supermarket at Eden Center. This Cantonese bakery had some good rolls and a great variety of things - the steam bbq pork buns are amazing -and they made sure I got fresh ones too. There were also deliciously fried small taro balls with pork inside that was yummy too, which I would also order again. The floss pork, scallions, Chinese sausage was my least favorite of the three items I got, because it was mostly bread - but the bread was still yummy to eat - would have loved to see more of the toppings. Service was so friendly, I very much appreciated it. When I went to pick a bbq pork buns, I was immediately stopped and given a freshly made one! read more

I drive almost 2 hours to buy their coconut buns. They are always fresh and delicious.

This is a great little bakery to grab a snack before grocery shopping. You have to pay at the bakery separately before you walk away with the goods. They are cash only (they also accept Venmo the last time I checked). The usual pastries are always a hit, and they often have a shelf with mystery plastic bags with end-of-life pastries for a sale price. This is a family owned Chinese bakery with pastries, bread, dim sum buns, tarts, and hand-held food items. My wife and I tried 7 items. Some were good, and some were bad. 1) Baked BBQ Pork Bun The bun was soft, moist, and slightly sweet with a toasted flavor. The filling had chopped char siu pork in a slightly sweet red sauce. The pork was tender and moist with flavors of hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, and salt. It was missing rice wine flavor. This was one ingredient away from greatness. 2) Pork Floss cake A fluffy pancake that was cut in half and made into a sandwich. The filling was a crepe like pancake with a spread made with sweetened condensed milk and mayonnaise. One edge of the sandwich had pork floss. The floss had flavors of salt, soy sauce, sugar, msg, and pork. The salt was dominant, and the rest were moderate. The pancakes were moist, soft, and mildly sweet. Overall, it was sweet because there wasn't much pork. This was interesting and strangely appealing. FYI, pork floss is dry, thinly shredded pork with flavors that are sweet, salty, and savory. It is made by stewing pork in a sweet soy sauce based marinade. Then, it is finely shredded and baked until dry. 3) Egg Custard tart It had egg custard in a laminated pastry shell. The shell was soft, flaky, and slightly oily with a hint of butter and sugar. The custard was light, soft, and moist with light flavors of egg, milk, sugar, and vanilla. This was good in a typical way and well-made. It was larger than the ones at dim sum. 4) Sesame Ball with Red Bean Paste It was a deep-fried glutinous rice ball filled with red bean paste and covered with sesame seeds. The filling had mild flavors of sugar and red bean with a hint of salt. The glutinous rice was chewy and sweet with a toasted nut flavor from the sesame seeds. This was well-made with all the right flavors. 5) Cream Custard Bun It had egg custard filling in a bun that was breadlike. The bun was fluffy, soft, and moist with a light sweetness. The custard was grainy with a mild egg yolk flavor and sweetness. Great bun and okay filling. The custard needs work on the texture and flavor intensity. 6) White Sugar Cake It was two gooey steamed rice cakes made with rice flour, sugar, water, and yeast. They were quite sour and slightly sweet with a light alcohol smell. Once in a while, I'll get some that are slightly tangy, not sour. Nothing in the ingredients should make it sour. The sourness can come from germs that ferment the sugar. It might have been contaminated. I threw it away. 7) Oreo Cream Tart I've never seen a pastry like this. It had an Oreo cookie on top of white whipped cream frosting and chocolate syrup drizzle in a laminated pastry shell. The shell tasted like the one in the egg custard tart. It was soft, flaky, and a bit oily. The whipped cream frosting was barely sweet, which made it bland. The Oreo cookie had little flavor and was soft due to humidity. This pastry was a unique disaster. When we arrived at the bakery counter, an older woman who spoke limited English tried to help us. A young woman stepped in and helped us. She was patient and helpful. She was the owner's daughter. Her father lived in Hong Kong before coming to the USA. He was born in Guangdong province in China. If you have questions, speaking Cantonese would be useful. There were no tables or chairs for dining. The store was old and relatively clean. Parking is free, but the lot is usually crowded. We would be willing to come back for the BBQ Pork Bun, Egg Custard tart, and Sesame Ball. There were some pastries that looked interesting. So, we'll visit again and hope for the best. read more

They also sell pastries for $1.25 each about an hour or two before closing - check it out! They did sell out pretty early so they might not have too many options by then, but I managed to get a LAU SHA BAO this past Friday evening. I ate it the next day for breakfast and the bread was already pretty stale and there wasn't much salted egg custard in it - like the ratio of bread and custard was just too high. However, I've had their LAU PO BING (Wife Cookie) before and those were pretty great! I look forward to trying more of their pastries next time. read more

The closest thing I've found to an authentic Chinese bakery without traveling all the way up to NYC. It's a _small family owned business_ where I've come so often and made friends with the family (even my parents came up and everyone was able to speak Canto/ Toishanese) and got along. I call in my bakery orders every trip I make up here. They are willing to take orders, but PLEASE, if you're not going to get it or pay? Please don't cancel on them last minute. What would YOU do if you make DOZENS of a product for a customer and the cancelled/ never showed/ etc? This is why they're wary about large orders. I love this bakery which is located inside the good fortune supermarket. The egg tarts and portugese tarts here are my favorite!! The crust is super flaky and delicious and the egg tart filling is perfectly balanced with the sweet eggy flavor. The portugese tart is a little sweeter than the Hong Kong style egg tart and the flavor is less eggy and more of a creamy vanilla flavor. Absolutely delicious. My rating is only based on the egg tarts and the Portuguese egg tarts. I don't know if egg tarts are made differently on the East Coast, but the ones i've had from this bakery and a few other bakeries in the same plaza all have very similar taste. I've had egg tarts from San Francisco's China town, and usually the crusts tastes like they make it with lard. I believe the ones at Wing Cheng and the other stores I tried are made with butter, resulting in a crumbly crust. Also the egg portion has a hint of jackfruit or some other flavoring. The egg tarts I'm used to have an almost flan like taste, but much lighter in sugar. Their egg tarts seemed a little watery and the egg part didn't seem to have set. I tried the Portuguese egg tart and the egg seems curdled, not smooth like a flan. The crust was the same as the regular egg tart. Price was $2 for the regular egg tart and $2.50 for the Portuguese one. Unfortunately I will have to keep searching for a place that makes egg tarts like the ones I had in San Francisco. read more

I had a STRONG craving for a Chinese style sweet cream coconut bun. This was the only location that I found that seemed to have what I was looking for. The first hun I've had was in Forrest Hills NY & honestly it was AMAZING. I bought 2 buns here for approximately $2.50 each (very good price). They weren't as pretty as the buns I've had in the past, however the flavor is all there. I personally prefer more crème in the center, but none the less the dough was soft and fresh. I'll be making the trip more often solely for the buns and fresh Asian ingredients! Highly recommend. Also, there is LOTS of parking available and a ton of stores nearby if they don't have what you're looking for. read more

Food delivery services are great with this bakery. My order has always been accurate. I decided to go in person. It is nestled in the hot food deli of an Asian grocery, which is great after you've done your shopping. Everything was fine until I saw a little mouse scurrying around under the baked goods area. A random person at the bakery also commented on how she liked these breads better than the 99 Ranch breads. I wanted to cry with joy when I finally spotted the buns in the grocery store at this cute bakery. $8 min to use credit card but I had to stock up so meeting the minimum was not a problem. It's definitely a mom-and-pop type of venture, and so selection is pretty basic. You also have to pay in cash. I have bought a couple of items here and there, and each time I come back, I keep hoping that I'll be impressed. The flavour is there, but the biggest turn-off for me is that there is almost no filling in the buns, it's all just bread. Egg tarts are neon yellow and I can taste the food colouring i the filling. The one thing I have enjoyed are the red bean mochi/sticky rice balls, which were fresh. Prices seem high for the quality. My go to place for Chinese baked goods. They are located within the Good Fortune grocery in Eden Center, towards the far left of the store. There's usually someone from the bakery manning the register, but if it's late and they are closed, you can still fake bakery items to the front registers. I always get their pineapple custard buns whenever I'm here. They always have the perfect crust and just the right amount of custard inside. Make sure to try the ones with actual pineapple pieces inside. The red bean ones could be better, as the red beans are a bit hard and not mashed enough. Each type of bun is designated differently. Some are different shapes while others have seeds on the crust. Make sure to ask which type is which. I've also had the egg tarts here. Although they are nowhere close to the ones I've had in Macau, they are the best in this area. Super creamy and caramelized perfectly. Also, prices are super reasonable!!! read more
