Pork Floss Cake and Char Siu Pineapple Bun
Ashley B.

This bakery has the best authentic Hong Kong style pastries in Eden Center! It's a small bakery inside the Good Fortune supermarket on the left. The best ones are always the most unassuming! Everything out on display is labeled and the owners are so sweet. I love that they have so many varieties of pineapple bun, even one that combines the classic BBQ pork bun filling with the pineapple bread crust. Their egg tarts are very flaky and the custard is super light. If you're not familiar with pork floss the pork floss cake is definitely a good treat to try. Combined with their super light cake and the sweet mayo coating, it's rolled in pork floss for a perfect combo of sweet and salty.

A hidden gem. I love the mooncake here and I personally found the service to be friendly!

Baked BBQ Pork Buns

Be careful about what you buy! The 5 star ratings are purchases of a few items or questionable reviews with no details or photos. The bakery is located in Good Fortune supermarket in Eden Center. This is a family owned Chinese bakery with pastries, bread, dim sum buns, tarts, and hand-held food items. My wife and I tried 7 items. Some were good, and some were bad. 1) Baked BBQ Pork Bun The bun was soft, moist, and slightly sweet with a toasted flavor. The filling had chopped char siu pork in a slightly sweet red sauce. The pork was tender and moist with flavors of hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, and salt. It was missing rice wine flavor. This was one ingredient away from greatness. 2) Pork Floss cake A fluffy pancake that was cut in half and made into a sandwich. The filling was a crepe like pancake with a spread made with sweetened condensed milk and mayonnaise. One edge of the sandwich had pork floss. The floss had flavors of salt, soy sauce, sugar, msg, and pork. The salt was dominant, and the rest were moderate. The pancakes were moist, soft, and mildly sweet. Overall, it was sweet because there wasn't much pork. This was interesting and strangely appealing. FYI, pork floss is dry, thinly shredded pork with flavors that are sweet, salty, and savory. It is made by stewing pork in a sweet soy sauce based marinade. Then, it is finely shredded and baked until dry. 3) Egg Custard tart It had egg custard in a laminated pastry shell. The shell was soft, flaky, and slightly oily with a hint of butter and sugar. The custard was light, soft, and moist with light flavors of egg, milk, sugar, and vanilla. This was good in a typical way and well-made. It was larger than the ones at dim sum. 4) Sesame Ball with Red Bean Paste It was a deep-fried glutinous rice ball filled with red bean paste and covered with sesame seeds. The filling had mild flavors of sugar and red bean with a hint of salt. The glutinous rice was chewy and sweet with a toasted nut flavor from the sesame seeds. This was well-made with all the right flavors. 5) Cream Custard Bun It had egg custard filling in a bun that was breadlike. The bun was fluffy, soft, and moist with a light sweetness. The custard was grainy with a mild egg yolk flavor and sweetness. Great bun and okay filling. The custard needs work on the texture and flavor intensity. 6) White Sugar Cake It was two gooey steamed rice cakes made with rice flour, sugar, water, and yeast. They were quite sour and slightly sweet with a light alcohol smell. Once in a while, I'll get some that are slightly tangy, not sour. Nothing in the ingredients should make it sour. The sourness can come from germs that ferment the sugar. It might have been contaminated. I threw it away. 7) Oreo Cream Tart I've never seen a pastry like this. It had an Oreo cookie on top of white whipped cream frosting and chocolate syrup drizzle in a laminated pastry shell. The shell tasted like the one in the egg custard tart. It was soft, flaky, and a bit oily. The whipped cream frosting was barely sweet, which made it bland. The Oreo cookie had little flavor and was soft due to humidity. This pastry was a unique disaster. When we arrived at the bakery counter, an older woman who spoke limited English tried to help us. A young woman stepped in and helped us. She was patient and helpful. She was the owner's daughter. Her father lived in Hong Kong before coming to the USA. He was born in Guangdong province in China. If you have questions, speaking Cantonese would be useful. There were no tables or chairs for dining. The store was old and relatively clean. Parking is free, but the lot is usually crowded. We would be willing to come back for the BBQ Pork Bun, Egg Custard tart, and Sesame Ball. There were some pastries that looked interesting. So, we'll visit again and hope for the best.

honestly a hidden gem in good fortune market in eden centre! I saw this recommended amongst the Chinese community and had to try it out. They sell Portuguese and Hong Kong styled egg tarts, one for $2. It doesn't show in the photo but the egg tarts were huge, larger than the normal ones I get from bakeries and also cheaper. the lady is very helpful if it is your first time there, and will explain to you if a bread contains fillings or what type of filling.

Surprise bag

My favorite bakery to get pineapple buns from. The owner is SO sweet. Also, they sell day-old buns at a huge discount. I got a "surprise bag" with 6 buns for $4.50! I always pick up some goodies whenever I stop by Good Fortune. I absolutely love this place!!

Cyndy's Bottom Line: Delicious egg tarts *Located in the Good Fortune Supermarket in Eden Center. *Upon entering the bakery is located on the left side near the back of the store. *Lots of parking available *Cash only *Hours: 0800-9pm daily *Take out *Delivery service available I stopped in because of the great reviews about the Hong Kong Style egg tarts. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Portuguese egg tarts too. Both were so scrumptious! Creamy decadent egg custard center with flaky crusts. They have a good selection of buns, pastries and a yummy BBQ pork bun. Worth a visit when you want delicious egg tarts!

Located inside of the Asian market. Once you walk in turn left and you'll see it. Great service and tasty pork buns.

They have good egg tarts, sponge cake, and few other Hong Kong style buns. They accepted cash.

First I was greeted by a customer while I was reading the outside sign on a pumpkin spicy latte, a customer that was leaving stopped and turned and explained it was everything and do good and if I have not, I must as they put actual pumpkin puree inside not just that pump pump stuff. So I was sold walking in. Next up was home made cookies making ice cream sandwich's by the front door. before I could even get through the line to the front, I was greeted with more baked goods, cupcakes, scones, macroons, dog biscuits - normal biscuits! So I went to town ordering a variety being asked by my lil and my inner child. While sipping on my now, pumpkin spiced latte from here, I saw actual meals being served and I missed out on ordering sandwiches from the back :( Something I will be coming back for! I did get up and order more things, like a fall inspired cookie ice cream sandwhich, all alone by itself in a sea of other flavors, I had to rescue it. And the sour macrons! When did that become a thing??? They were so good and perfect for our movie night later that day. I'm very happy to have stumbled across this find.

This place is interesting because they have essentially three different menus along with a bakery…read morethat I believe is open all day with a variety of interesting baked goods. They have a breakfast/brunch menu, a daytime/lunch menu, and an evening menu and you can watch them preparing items in the kitchen. You can either eat inside or outside on the patio, and they have heaters for the cooler days. We came here to get some baked goods mid-afternoon and they still had a good selection. The bear claw was large and tasty with an enjoyable cinnamon flavor and the lemon meringue croissant was unique and enjoyable as I'd never had a croissant with lemon meringue filing. They weren't cheap but they were tasty and enjoyable. I did want to mention they have parking but it's hit or miss on getting a spot since it can get crowded so walking might be easiest if you live nearby. I'll come back here again for a meal and to try some other items on their menu.

I really wanted to love this place…read more My family and I chose to come here for Easter because it's dog-friendly -- which felt like the perfect combination for us. They even have a dog menu, and the patio setup is honestly beautiful. The ambiance is warm, inviting, and aesthetically on point. The staff greets you right away, and first impressions were genuinely great. We chose to sit outside on the balcony so my puppy could join us, and that space alone is worth noting -- fire pits going, cozy atmosphere, just really well done. Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there. We ordered food for all of us, including my daughter and my puppy. My food and my puppy's food came out fairly quickly, but my daughter's meal never arrived. After waiting quite a while, I had to flag down the waiter, only to be told -- after the fact -- that they didn't even have what she ordered. At no point before that did anyone communicate this. So now she has to reorder, and we're waiting all over again while the rest of us are already eating. When her food finally arrives, there's no silverware. Just... dropped off with no thought to the fact that she actually needed utensils to eat. We also ordered lemonade, which was great -- but when the waiter offered to bring more after the issues, it never came. To try and make up for things, they brought out a dessert that looked beautiful, but when we asked what was in it (due to food sensitivities), the waiter had no idea. He eventually came back with an allergy sheet, which felt like an afterthought rather than informed service. At that point, I asked to speak with a manager. Instead, the waiter told me, "I just got out of trouble -- what can I do to make this right?" That response alone was incredibly off-putting and unprofessional. We ultimately just had my daughter's meal removed from the bill and decided to move on. Even my puppy's waffles -- which was one of the things we were most excited about -- came out slightly burnt. Overall, the lack of communication, poor follow-through, and disorganized service completely overshadowed what could have been a great experience. It's disappointing because the space and concept have so much potential. Unfortunately, I can't overlook the service issues.
