a bar with wine bottles and wine glasses
    Allison P.

Wine Thief is a cozy little wine bar situated on the first floor of the Omni Hotel. I really love the ambiance as it is usually dimly lit, a nice escape from the brutal Texas heat. For the more temperate fall and spring days, there is patio seating if you want to enjoy your wine alfresco. Since it is in the Omni, expect the prices to be a bit higher then they would at other wine bars. On their website, it looked like they used to offer 1/2 price bottles on certain days of the week but have discontinued that deal. I would appreciate some kind of happy hour special, so I can sample some of the even pricer wines! The staff was friendly and helpful and I witnessed one bartender handle a particularly difficult customer with ease and grace. Bar snacks are available from the neighboring restaurant, but like the wine be prepared to pay a pretty penny for them.

Friendly and attentive service. My server/bartender, Bree, was a gem. She made a great recommendation for the arugula salad, which I had been eyeing but couldn't decide on, it was phenomenal. She made great suggestions overall from dinner to wine and dessert! Bree was wonderful and overall a very positive dining experience.

I love Wine Thief. It's upscale and a hidden gem. My friends and I normally try to do the once a month wine tastings. Phil Natale is extremely helpful and responsive to making reservations and anything else you may need. A normal wine tasting is 6 flights and three small plates that come from Bob's next door so although the price has increased this year, you are still getting your money's worth. You will definitely leave full, buzzed, more knowledgeable and happy with a fun experience and a memory you made with friends.

Wine Thief huh? That's exactly what this wine bar is...a thief. The second star is for their honesty in having who they are in the name and for the great service. We stayed at the new Omni hotel in Fort Worth this past weekend and after checking in on a Friday night our group decided to grab a drink. Instead of going out, catching a cab or the trolley, we decided to stay in and check out the Wine Thief. The bar is small, clean and simple. It really is an attractive bar with about 14 tables and a half dozen seats at the bar with a few more tables outside. After looking at the menu we each began to look over our menu to see if everyone else was thinking the same thing...the prices that Wine Thief is commanding are ridiculously high. Looking at the menu a little longer I realized that every single glass of wine was exactly a third the price of the bottle. $80 bottle $26 glass. I am not one to shy away from paying for a great bottle of wine or dinner, but there comes a point of reason when it's apparent that Wine Thief is taking their guests for fools. Ritz Carlton prices at the Omni. The ladies each ordered a flight of wine (Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc) which is the best deal on the menu. Four flights are offered, three of which are white and one red, so if you're a red drinker you have one option. I stuck with a cocktail. One of the guys in our group is a wine collector and even he passed on the wine and opted for a cocktail as well. The service was outstanding. There was only one person working the entire room, granted it was just our table of six and another five people outside, but she took great care of us. We never waited for a thing and she was very helpful with the menu. The hotel was completely booked for the weekend and yet there was only one person scheduled to work Wine Thief, which tells me that even at capacity the hotel wasn't expecting much business...maybe is the astronomical prices.

Well Well Well...a hidden gem and a nice one at that! LOVE! Sexy Company and Great Wine. Plus Plus on my end! Decor is elegant and the big bar chairs are the kind you want to sink your life into and never get out because everything just feels right at that moment in time. Get in a parking garage...no street access....fyi.

Heaven. I don't like blue cheese so much but I love truffles- and yes I am going to lick the bowl. It's amazing!

Everything we tried food-wise was fantastic: Meatballs Dirty Martini Crostini Cheese Board Pizza I'd happily order every single item again, and I'm already looking forward to working my way through more of the menu. I also noticed they host different events regularly, and I absolutely loved the comedy show. It was run very well, and you could tell the comedians were having just as much fun as the crowd. I'll definitely be back for the next one and I'm following their social media for more events.

Magnolia gets busier every year, and I was confused by the signs in the back lot. After chatting with my server, I learned that parking is free in the back and side lot on weekends, so don't let the red and blue paid parking signs scare you away. The wine bar itself is spacious, with plenty of seating and a relaxed atmosphere. It wasn't packed, but there were enough people enjoying a bottle of wine and catching up with friends that it felt lively without being crowded. I really liked how the wine selection was displayed on the shelves with information about where each wine was from and the price. Using my passport, I chose a Vinho Verde from Portugal. It was light, crisp, and refreshing, just what I was looking for on a hot Texas afternoon. The service was excellent. My server was friendly, walked me through my options, and kept refilling my water throughout my visit, which was especially appreciated on such a warm day. I also noticed they have a full calendar of events, including live music, sip and paint, and a mimosa bar from 8-11 on Saturdays. What stood out most to me was the location. It's the perfect place to meet friends for a glass of wine before dinner on Magnolia, or to settle in and spend the afternoon people watching and relaxing. I'll definitely be back to explore more of their wine list.
