Horribly managed. Tried to stop in on the 4th of July and the store was closed with no notice or heads up they wouldn't be open.

Artisan Homebrew

He needed to…read morestop and pick up some supplies, and as this place was close to a spot where we met friends for lunch, we headed over. Artisan Home Brew is a business that has been here for quite some time, which says something in the era of home brew becoming popular, then fading from popularity. Lots of places sprung up during that time, then closed as demand dropped. That they have survived shows their dedication to the art of home brewing and their understanding of who their customer is and what they're looking for. This is not a fancy place, nor is it a place for people to stop and pick up a six pack. They don't sell beer, just all the ingredients and supplies, along with some supplies for wine making. They have some beginner supplies, kits and such, though this is a small part of their inventory. It's an old space with clean swept wooden floors and exposed beam ceilings, part of which have coasters from various craft breweries stapled. Shelves are unadorned, lined with various items, bins of different grains line one wall. The staff are quite knowledgable and friendly, with a club-like atmosphere where discussing the craft is as important, if not more important, then selling the product. Lion joined in on the banter, then made his purchase with a firm handshake and a thanks from both. I have a feeling this is going to become a place he visits often.

Our server was great and attentive, the food was really good! We ordered the Caesar salad, calamari, chicken with crab, veal saltimbocca, pasta with shrimp and crab, pasta with meatballs (the person who ordered didn't care for the meatballs but is very particular), baked salmon, and chicken parm dinner. Only issue I would address is that some of the parties food came out at least 5 minutes before the others (about 1/2 the party) which made it awkward. Otherwise, a great experience and all want to return!

When I arrived, I drove past the restaurant because I did not know where it was located. I turned around at the municipal building and drove around to the main entrance which is behind the building and not on East Lancaster Avenue. We were there for lunch so there was plenty of parking. Given the large number of tables that they have, I can imagine that the parking lot can get crowded when the restaurant is full. The interior is large with lots of tables inside and outside. Outside there are tables on a patio overlooking the river. The building appears to be a converted mill. We ordered the Caesar Salad, Basa Francesce, Seafood Fettucine, and Chocolate Mousse Cake. The Caesar Salad was delicious. The dressing had a hint of anchovy flavor. The Basa Francesce was a light fish washed in butter with a lemon butter sauce. The fettucine was not as flavorful as I expected. The Seafood Fettucine by contrast was extremely tasty. The Chocolate Mousse Cake was rich and delightful. I expect us to be back again.

Kind of an Asian fusion menu, with curries and bowls available as vegetarian or with meats, as well as burgers and sandwiches. Fries are real, flavorful and a highlight. Finally the tap selection is tremendous with a mix of local and quality craft selections. Don't be surprised to see some hard to find selections on the chalkboard.

We made the trek up from Wilmington after seeing that the Bottle Room's tap list included a unique beer from a Knoxville brewery that we'd loved at a beer fest but had never found in our area since (Xul's PBJ Mixtape sour beer, a delicious and mind-blowing sour that somehow genuinely tastes like peanut butter, grape jelly, and white bread!). Props to Bottle Room for sourcing from both local microbreweries, but also from other delicious breweries around the country! Since our goal was beer, we hadn't put much thought into the food, so we were very nicely surprised that every bite was delicious, and we're already scheming which of our PA friends might want to meet us there in the future. We started with their tuna tostada special --- won ton chips with tuna poke, edamame, avocado, and some sort of wasabi dressing. This was challenging to eat, but absolutely worth the mess. Husband ordered their smash burger with truffle fries, which was a very solid and flavorful burger, and the truffle fries had excellent texture and flavor. I opted for their Ratatouille special, which offered the usual vegetable medley served over zucchini bread (a unique touch!) with burrata. The zucchini bread was a little bit sweet and a little soft, but the overall flavors came together nicely. We were happy to learn they offer crowlers as well, so you can take your favorite beers to go!

The place was packed with an electric atmosphere - we caught the World Baseball Classic, college football, Flyers hockey, and golf all at once. Talk about a sports lover's paradise! The absolute highlight? Irish dancers performing in the restaurant! What a fantastic surprise from the management team - truly made the experience special and memorable. The service was top-notch from start to finish. We started with two very attentive bartenders, and by 4:30 PM they had ramped up to at least four bartenders working the bar. These folks were pouring drafts and mixing cocktails with serious speed and flair - think Tom Cruise in "Cocktail"! Even with the crowd, they took great care of us. And the food? The OG Smash Burger was absolutely amazing - perfectly executed and hit the spot. Thank you to the entire PJ's team for an unforgettable day of sports, entertainment, and great service. Can't wait to come back!
