It was easy to choose a time for painting --- they have the option to reserve a private party if you have at least 6 people, but we opted to go during their open hours on a Sunday afternoon. They had a table set aside for us with our basic supplies ready and waiting when we arrived, and several other tables set up with customers painting various canvases. They have plenty of design options if you want to choose one of their preselected designs, or for $5 more you can send them a picture of the design you'd prefer and they'll make you an appropriate stencil. I chose to make my own wooden sign and was quite happy with it. We were helped by Katie, a young artist who was so incredibly supportive, encouraging, and easy to talk to. She helped guide us through the process of choosing a paint/stain for the background, learning appropriate technique for the stencil, and choosing a color scheme. She checked in periodically to make sure we felt well-supported, offered words of encouragement, and jumped in to help whenever requested. At the end of the an enjoyable afternoon, I had a sign I could be proud of and that I actually wanted to hang up (unlike the less fortunate results of prior canvas paint nights) --- the use of stencils and guidance made it easy to create great results, even if you're not particularly creative/artistic. We're planning to take our moms for a Mother-Daughter paint day for Mother's Day and we're definitely looking forward to it!

I was impressed with Judy's prompt communication prior to the class. I enjoyed her simplified…read moreinstructions and the interesting facts she provided when we asked questions. However, the energy shifted toward the end of the class when she berated a woman in front of me who was struggling. I felt her comments to the woman were extremely unprofessional and I'd be surprised if the woman didn't leave a negative review herself. I also thought it was unprofessional when Judy snapped at me several times to put my tools down, until I realized it was one minute after the class was scheduled to finish, and that was probably why she was getting snappy. There were two other people in the class who asked if she had a class after ours, and she admitted that no, she just had to get home to do some yard work, but their questions indicated that other people felt she was preoccupied wrapping up the class and cleaning before the class actually ended. It was also difficult understanding the progression of the art without a display piece, and I found myself looking at the original class images on my phone several times to follow the design. Altogether, the first 3/4 of the class was enjoyable, but it quickly went downhill when Judy lost her patience, and I walked away feeling more like a paycheck to her rather than a valued customer. Needless to say, I will not be returning.
