The restaurant is on the country club grounds, however there is ample parking for diners and golfers. In addition to the formal dining area, there is also an option for outdoor seating. We had reservations and were quickly seated. It was pretty busy as it was Friday night, but our server was very attentive. Our table was served warm bread while we contemplated the menu, always a huge plus in my book! I'm a sucker for huckleberries, so I ordered the Huckleberry Drop, which features local huckleberries picked from the base of Mt. Adams, it doesn't get much fresher than that! For my entree, I opted for the small Caesar with salmon. Other entrees ordered for the table were the Halibut and Chips, Burger and Fries and Shrimp Alfredo. Everything was delicious and the portions were very generous for the price, I even had leftovers of my small salad to put it into perspective. As mentioned, there are beautiful views of the Columbia Gorge from the dining area as there are huge windows. It really adds a nice ambiance! This would be a great spot for a date night, family dinner, company party or just to treat yourself after a long week!

I pass through The Dalles on a pretty regular basis (nearly once a month) but only the last few months had I actually decided to "layover" in this little historic town. After my dinner tonight, I'm SO glad I did!! We showed up to BS nestled into the heart of quaint downtown. The historic building is something near and dear to my tastes. Vaulted high ceilings. Crown molding everywhere I look. Dark wood wall to wall. The saloon bar boasted a large ornate, rich wood with stained glass and a beautiful antique, in working order cash register. I order a cocktail and we receive our mini-gobbleted ice water. I got the raspberry truffle which was a dessert drink, because I'm sweet like that. It was delicious and I savored every drop. Our server, Harley, was amazingly attentive and knew a lot of the history of the decor and building he so graciously shared with us. Our booth was cozy and private. Just the right amount of space and light. Perfect view of the bar. I got my side salad and fresh bread. I order the prime rib which came perfectly cooked. With broccoli, couscous (which was actually one of my favorite parts of the meal...and that says a lot, because the rest was fantastic) horseradish cream, au jus, and a small slice of pineapple. Bae ordered the chicken strip salad...which he said was flawless. After finishing very generous meals we ordered dessert to go. Everything from the esthetics of this beautiful restaurant, the vibrant history behind the huge oil paintings canvassing the walls, the stellar food, the excellent service...the only thing that I regret about this place is that I don't live closer and didn't wear bigger pants...both my bad!!!...hahahah I think Sir Harley needs a raise and that I will return ASAP. Thank you soooo much Baldwin Saloon!!!

It's cast iron facade and brick kept it from burning down... and its captivating story saved it from getting torn down. The food options vary with the kitchen staffing. There is a classic bar with a pool table, booth seating, and a patio. Music might be coming. The pizza is good and the cocktails superb... sipping a "Lost in Mexico" while checking out the dozens of almost as old western oils covering the walls is something special. Baldwin's is a direct link to the past depicted in those paintings. The atmosphere here is original.

A special shoutout to Kissy and Hunter for being so welcoming and attentive! Great service makes all the difference, especially when you're new to an area. And the fact that they're dog-friendly is an even bigger plus because bringing your pup along makes the experience that much better! Definitely happy to have found this spot!

They came and refilled the dog bowl with ice cold water, and our dogs loved that. Service was a little slow, but everyone was nice. I got the pulled pork sandwich with fries and bbq sauce. It was sooooooo salty. Everything. The fries, the pork, the sauce. So much salt. Dipping in my husbands ranch mellowed the salt a bit. My husband got the chicken pesto burger and salad. He said it was good, though Costco's was better. lol. But he ate it all. The dogs got their bowl split in half. There was a bunch of peanut butter, chicken, cucumber, and cabbage. The picky dog devoured it all but the cabbage, the dog who'll eat anything ate only the chicken and PB. Really funny. But they were big sized. I'd go again, just being understanding that they're heavy handed with the salt.

The Mr and I opted for the burger special which included a cheeseburger, fries, and a beer for $18.95 (I think) and S had a French dip, while M had a BBQ sandwich. Our burgers were excellent and the fries were salty and crisp - just the way I like them. I was only able to eat half of my burger. The next morning I regretted not bringing the leftovers with me. I'd have eaten them for breakfast. Haha M seemed to enjoy his sandwich, but S was disappointed in hers. It didn't come with any sides. She felt like she should have gotten fries or cole slaw. Service was friendly. The location is a little strange. It was actually tucked into an industrial area. If we didn't know it was there and have a GPS, we'd never have found it. However there was live music outside and it appears to be a favorite with the locals.
