We've been bringing our 15-year-old mini-poodle, Angel, here for many years. The facilities are spotless, smell good and clean, and the owner and workers are so friendly and helpful. I know Angel gets excellent care here. Between the heated/air conditioned flooring to his option of staying in his individual little apartment either inside or if the weather permits, outside, I know he is safe. He has never lost weight there, so I know he is being well fed and cared for. I also have them add on a bath before I bring him back home to his owner, who is our daughter. This is a wonderful facility to consider whether you need to board your pet for days or weeks. If I could give them six stars, I would!!! read more

This was our first time boarding our 1 year old cats and I was pretty worried about it. Our cats can be little monsters that like to chew on wires so leaving them with someone without a cat-proof home was not going to work out great for anyone involved. All the people that we know that would want to take our cats already have their own, and I hear cats can get aggressive with stranger cats and we didn't want to risk that while we were away on our honeymoon. One of our cats also seems to have a bit of separation anxiety so I didn't really want to leave them in the house for the week without proper socialization and we don't know anyone that lives close enough to us to feel comfortable asking them to come every day. Windy Hill Kennels had the best pricing out of all the nearby cat kennels and they also had good reviews so we decided to give them a shot for our own peace of mind. The staff at Windy Hill Kennels were all very nice. As others have said it is a family business and you can tell they care about the pets they are caring for. When I dropped them off they asked about what they should expect from our cats and any special instructions we had. I brought a big box of wet food for my cats to eat while they were there but they will also provide dry food at no extra cost. The cats are kept in a concrete building separate from the dog kennels, you can hear dogs barking outside but it seemed quiet inside from what I remember. When we picked up the cats they said they were nervous for the first day and wouldn't eat but adjusted nicely after that and were vocal about their feeding times (sounds about right)! The cat kennels have doors in them so if you have multiple cats in the same household they can stay together and open the doors up. The only bad thing I noticed was that I had packed a few of my cats' favorite toys with them in a pocket of their carrier under their treats and unfortunately I don't think the toys ever made it into the kennel with them. If we ever need to board our cats again I will make those more obvious! They also let the cats out to stretch their legs once per day while they clean the kennel and said our cats really enjoyed their time out exploring. At home we realized the cats also had a nice smell to them and their coats were so much softer than normal. I hadn't thought our cats were dirty but when we got them back the difference was very noticeable! Not sure if they gave them a bath or what but we enjoyed the cleanliness. The cats were kind of shy returning to our house and were extra loving to us for a couple days before fully returning to their normal selves. Overall we would definitely recommend Windy Hill Kennels if you need somewhere trustworthy to watch your cats. read more

This is the second kennel that we have tried in the area, and the one we are going to keep using. When we dropped off they asked all of the normal questions, but they also ended with "is there anything else we should know about your dog?". We were able to talk a bit more about habits and temperament. It made us feel like they saw the dogs as individuals, not just dollar signs. When we picked up, they were able to tell us a few anecdotes about our dogs stay. Really liked that level of personal care. Dog was calm and happy when we picked her up. Not over stimulated or strung out. Liked that they were willing to use our food and treats with no up charge. read more

Our first experience here was great. It was the first time we've ever boarded our 1 year old shepherd mix. He was nervous at first but the staff put him at ease. We paid for extra playtime and he got walks and individual attention. We will use them again next time we go on vacation! read more

Last year was the first time we had to board our 14 year old dog. I was a bit nervousness and I call the place several times just to check on our baby. The staff was understanding of my concerns and was helpful and reassuring. She had a wonderful stay. I think it did her a world of good to be surrounded by all the dogs and activities that were going on. The oweer really enjoys doing this and it shows in the way she takes care of your animals. Our baby came home with a spring in her step. :) This year I've booked her stay again without reservations or concerns. So glad I found such a wonderful place. I have been using Windy Hill Kennels for 20 years and they have had 4 of my dogs over that time. My senior dog will be 16 on Aug 1st. I trust them implicitly. Never had a problem. They are professional, friendly, kind, and attentive. My bichon/poodle who is a rescue usually boards at least 4 times per year. She has numerous health issues as well as dietary ones. They always work with me and I can call to see how she is doing and i never feel I am a bother. Several years ago I was hospitalized unexpectedly on a trip, and had major surgery. She had to stay much longer. They were wonderful, cooked her special food, and gave her alot of attention. She was fine when she came home. I used other Kennels in past and had different experiences some of which were not good. I hope they continue in business for alot more years so other pet owners can feel as comfortable as I do.
