Short 12 minute ride with the beautiful views of kaneohe bay, paepae o Heeia fishpond and the beautiful Ko'olaus. Learned about patch reefs, fringe reefs and barrier reefs on our boat ride. Once on island we got to visit the coral lab, comb through gorilla ogo to find different sea creatures and stop at the touch tank. Also got to the shark being raised in the pond. There are over 300 coconut trees planted on the island. Gagan is the best tour guide, she is very knowledgeable and keeps the kids engaged. Shayla was also very good but is no longer on island. Always look forward to this field trip year after year.

At any given time there could be dozens of research projects going on. Some of the more permanent ones include 1) the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology and 2) Coral Regeneration. The tour, which must be booked ahead of time, can be paid for on day of tour. Cost depending on number of participants. Contact to get price. What to expect: 1) drop off your group to designated pier, then 2) driver park in close by lot NOT on-site, 3) pick up by Institute driver, 4) water taxi to island, 5) meet your guide, an employee of the University of Hawaii Marine Center, 6) enjoy a tour rich with history, scenic walking, and hands on and interactive activity with sea life. Impressed with the work being done on Coconut Island!

Orchid Show in Kāne'ohe, O'ahu, Hawaii…read more.. The Windward Orchid Society hasn't had its annual Orchid Show for the past four years. Maybe that's why my friend wanted to go this year!?!? We heard about this Orchid Show from one of the gals (Sherrie) in our mahjong group. Sherrie works at King Intermediate School and told us that the fragrance of the honohono orchids was so wonderful! We made plans to attend on Saturday, 3-18-23, which was the second day of the three-day event. Located on the makai (ocean) side of Kamehameha Highway, King Intermediate School has a view of Kaneohe Bay! The campus is very spacious with many outdoor basketball courts! The buildings have wonderful murals with Hawaiian themes! The gigantic trees, huge lawns, and decorative foliage really make the campus unique! We parked for free near the entrance and followed signs to the cafeteria. It wasn't air conditioned, so, I stood under the ceiling fans to keep cool. Maybe the orchids like the warm, humid environment? They are so beautiful! If you come to King Intermediate School for the Orchid Show, bring some money in case you want to be a member of the Windward Orchid Society. They also had various plants for sale (anthuriums, snake plants, bromeliads, air plants, etc.) and a Country Store with shirts, vases, books, and more! Come take a look!

But we definitely teach the foundation that Ko'olau Baptist Academy is built on. Initially when the school semester was going to start back we were OK with what castle was doing and going to a hybrid type of learning. If I'm being honest I wasn't really comfortable with that but I really thought that was my only option. And they announce that it was going to be all online my husband and I both thought to ourselves we have to do something at this point our daughter has been out of school since March of 2020and what they were doing online was in my opinion a joke! I just couldn't do that to my daughter anymore I knew she would end up falling behind and I couldn't stand by and watch it. I had seen the school several times but didn't know much about it because I was very happy with her experience at King Intermediate. So, I was more than happy to send her the castle. This is the best decision we have made! Her learning has truly been elevated and I am beyond impressed with the instruction! I am beyond grateful that my husband I decided to send her here! It's wonderful my daughter is in a place where she can learn more about GOD, and in my opinion get. Top notch education! Please do not let the small campus for you these teachers are top notch and providing our children with the best possible education. I know that unfortunately I will never find another place like this when we move but for now she is in school every single day and doing absolutely wonderful! Thank you koolua Baptist Academy!!

The KK schedule just added 2 more days to make it 5days. I LOVE the ppl I work with. Our Site Coordinator is AWESOME! Very caring, understanding and easy to talk to..even the parents come in smiling when they see us and their child..patiently waiting and or at play. I was VERY impressed that I got invited to a "STAFF" meeting and wow!! The WHOLE KK staff from all over was present. I was VERY honored to be included in these "workshops". All my working career was the boss' or teachers attended these types of meetings. Hoping they "shared" What they learned and pass onto the school staff... if everything was shared! This was a great ice breaker to meet others from schools. It was that "ah-ha" moment to put the names and faces together. This was a very awesome session today (5/31/25) i made suggestions to our site Coordinator and will introduce NEW games and brain games for our summer session. Much Mahalo,

Like most preschools, they have crafts and activities every day, and plenty of time for outdoor play. They celebrate diverse cultural holidays, include hearing/vision screenings, developmental assessments, school pictures, spirit weeks, etc. A big plus is they will potty train. My daughter talks about her teachers and how she loves them. She was only there for a year, but during that time no turnover among her four teachers. She grew and developed so much! They are strict but reasonable with COVID protocols. Tuition is about average. I only occasionally have trouble with parking at drop off. The school is up the street from Castle so there can be a lot of traffic in the area from 7:30-8am.

Tucked in the back of Traditions Coffee Roasters is Icky Love Art Loft and Gallery which is home to 40+ various artists and what a treat to find this gem that's filled with so much beautiful inspiration. The staff here is just incredibly knowledgeable of every single artist and priced that's showcased here with not just who they are but where they're from and is amazing what you'll find in this cozy gallery. The only downside is the long walk up the stairs and even with my horrible knee I just couldn't resist taking a peek as the Tradition Coffee Roasters describes what they have I was just so excited and curious. Here you'll find many items from stickers, wall arts, books, jewelry and beautiful assortment of pottery and so much more! I was told that the owner makes pottery and holds workshops & events right in the shop which is super cool and fun but having a bunch of local artist here in one place is so amazing to support local not found anywhere which I did as I couldn't resist a Hebrew Shell Keychain, a cute bowl I'm planning to put jewelry in which will add some fun character that I love which is brining out the crafty in me but love the find of this unique piece of art.
