My kid was one of five local kids in the whole school that was local with with black hair. The graduation ceremony needs improvement. They have the parents sit on the side while the whole school sits in front of the ceremony. Is this graduation for kindergarteners through 5th graders or is it for the 6th graders and their families?! My son was physically abused by a teacher's aid ( pulled by his ear across the room ) and it was witnessed by a student. She also hid my students pencil box which was later found by another student in the aide's desk. It was reported and "investigated" but it was the end of the school year. We got a letter a year later reading that the investigation was done but no results listed and she's was still working there the year after. She's normally an aide for a special needs children but was used as an aide for my son's class (not special needs). I hate to think what she does to special needs children who can't speak up for themselves. I didn't take it further since my child has already graduated and moved on to a different school but would have handed out flyers to parents warning them of this aide. I know this issue should be a rating should be for the Windward complex but feel that it should be noted here. COVID was hard on everyone including teachers but my son's teacher "didn't know how to use computers" so it was extra hard on parents. A+ leaders were good and attentive. It was great having the Kailua carnival there but it never returned. And I know this goes for most parents but the school really needs to send some paperwork to parents teaching them how to do common core math so we can help our children with their homework instead of just saying "let them work through it and if they're confused they can ask their teacher for help" Office workers are ok but health aide ms k. Need to be kinder to students especially during A+ 2 stars because it was a mixed bag with some really bad experiences.

Majority of the staff is friendly, happy and hospitable. My sons teachers are very very nice and make an honest effort to teach the kids and give us the opportunity to get involved. They have a program once a month you can come read to your child's class. They send home a composition book with notes and information on what your child did this week. I appreciate how they speak Hawaiian every day in their morning protocol. All the Kumu give a 110%. The principal, Amanda Fung, truly cares about the students and is easy to reach and communicate with. They have after school clubs and my kids have learned how to knit, sew and dance hula. We also love the community events they have like the trunk or treat and spring carnival. We invite our neighbors and family friends to join in on the fun. They also have a great broadcast club where the keiki work with Olelo. I'm very thankful to have this charter school, the only one in central O'ahu, so close to my home. I have four kids and hope my other two can attend when they are in elementary school.

Kamalani has the feel of a private school and their teachers and staff strive to enrich my child's education and development. Led by principal Amanda Fung, the school prides itself on creating opportunities and partnerships in the community designed to benefit our students and staff. Although I live in Kapolei, taking the daily trio to Kamalani Academy it's a small price to pay to make sure my son gets an advantage in his education and his mentality for when he becomes an adult committed to doing good in his community. The pandemic pushed us to explore new education options for a child and we are so grateful to have found this school where individuals work hard to raise up our students in the true spirit of aloha. Let me first say that my K-5 experience was excellent with my first child there. My second child who's 2 years younger didn't have any of the same teachers the older had. The turn over of teachers there happen often and frequently. Things had changed. Middle school(6,7&8) is where things started coming into question. My oldest had a horrible experience. Lots of things were said and done, by teachers and people in places of importance, that could crush a child's spirit and confidence. Many conversations took place about the children's academics and the importance of the curriculum. These problems were brought to the attention of the admin and staff. Unfortunately our concern's fell on deaf ears. Our experience there was tainted by the upper grades. Assignments and projects weren't explained well. A teacher said rude comments to the students, breaking their confidence. We met with both the teachers and the admin over the many different things that occurred. Things had become so difficult to discuss with them. At one point my child asked for help/guidance on a project and was told to go ask his parent. I'm sure that's not the expected answer as their tuition is now close to 12 thousand, you would think the teacher could assist him. Two projects really stood out last year. One he was trying so hard to get guidance and help from them. Help from the teacher in charge was minimal, lacked direction and care. This project was worth 15% of his grade. The other project was just as bad. No direction, no help offered from the teacher in charge until the very last days before it was due, as it had been brought to the attention of the other teachers and the admin that students were struggling and now feared negative consequences from the teachers and staff. It was a waste of more than 100 thousand dollars for a supposed good education for the kids. The final straw for me was when a member of the church admin called me, 4 days before the school year ended attempting to discuss the indiscretions. I was asked not to post my opinion on social media and was harassed to the point I was in tears. The church admin demanded my promise not to post anything negative about them. I had already spoken to the school admin and had agreed to let the children enjoy their last days of school. They grew up with these other children and I hated moving them because of that. However It didn't end there, that same day. I was verbally attacked that afternoon and my children practically held hostage, until a member of the staff finished ranting at me. I asked them to move up in the pick up line, as I didn't want this confrontation to continue. But that staff member couldn't let it go. Luckily Hawaii is a one party state and I was advised that if I feel in danger to press video on my phone to record the incident. Yes, the video is legal and I felt ambushed and scared. My children were scared because they couldn't understand why they were not allowed to go to their mother and told to sit back down until the school allowed them to go. There's lots of things that need improvement there. Better communication with the students and parents and a reevaluation of their academic programs and school procedures. The children are held to a dress code but the teachers are allowed to wear inappropriate clothing(crop tops and onesies) presentation counts for a lot. They require the kids to dress out but have no standards for teachers attire. My observations are,this school needs a lot of work. This is only my experience and things that happened to my children therefore this an opinion and in no way slander. I hope you look into any school for a rigorous program, great communication and a nurturing environment. Hope this review helps. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

They have a bunch of rules in order to book this venue. There was a set day that I could book it for the date I wanted so I immediately called first thing that morning. I believe you have to go down to the office with your deposit and I guess I didn't go in time (but had the time held) and they called me asking if I still wanted it. Of course I do! I just haven't had the time to come down to pay but I'll be there! If your event is on a weekend then you have an additional gate fee which is handed to the person that's opening and closing the gate for you. lol. I don't know what the prices are now but I'm sure it probably went up! Mind you my wedding was in 2011 so you might want to inquire with them. The site is absolutely gorgeous and you won't regret it. It's the best 90 mins you'll spend on your photos with a beautiful backdrop.

Reminds me of pristine aesthetically pleasing picturesque locales in a French or Italian countryside. =) LUSH GREEN FOLIAGE, IMPECABBLY LANSCAPED, AND OF NOTABLE UPKEEP. The architecture of the buildings and surrounding statues and fountains -- REFINED EUROPEAN ELEGANCE... Perfect for an outdoor reception under a skylit tent adorned with crystal chandeliers!! Since it's on a hill up a private road, it's perfectly secluded enough so that reception activities, wedding speeches, music, dancing & laughter can be in full-force without disturbing neighbors late at night. Beautiful views of the ocean and Waikiki/Diamond Head skylines.. And once it gets dark the lights in the skylit tent just glow with radiance.. =) I really can't find any better ways to describe what a Beautiful & Lovely experience it was in this gem of a setting.. Must see my pics :)) Just so glad it was such a memorable evening for the newly-wed couple & all us lucky guests!! Very clean, well organized and the staff from teachers, custodians, educational assistants & administrative operations, do an excellent job in making this school a blue ribbon school. Every morning & afternoon, various staff help to load & unload the children in & out of the vehicles at drop off & pick up. Organized and so much safer for everyone! The curriculum more than meets the standard, in fact it surpasses it. With having had experience at the rival school, Momilani Elem. in Pearl City, I feel that Mililani Mauka is better prepared to teach all children, wether your child excels or is the average child. You don't sense favoritism or prejudice. Everyone is treated equally. And each staff member involved with your child is attentive and caring towards them and their needs. I can go on and on, but I'll stop here. This is a top school and my children are happy here and are proud to attend this school!!

When a kid makes a mistake, I understand that you should do something to punish them but stop kids from having snacks and make a kid lay their heads on the table while everyone eats is not okay.
