Amazing!!! Last Saturday of the month you can catch a camel ride! Bring cash! $5 admission fee. Pay $3to take a mini horse on a "test drive" and get your license. You will also need cash to buy carrots! Large or small buckets it's so fun feeding!! We also came with a large bag of carrots to donate, obviously they go through many carrots so be kind and bring a donation! We really had a great time the animals are all really nice and you can pet them and feed them as well. Some of them can't be touched. The variety is amazing, the staff is so kind! We have been coming for years. If you are coming up to the Tehachapi area or near the rosamond/Mojave area we highly recommend you take a detour up Tehachapi willow springs road and stop in at this amazing zoo. How can you go wrong feeding zebra camels, yak etc.... you will not regret it!

    Big, sloppy kiss!

Note to visitors: this place is located at the end of a mile-long dirt road, complete with gravel and uneven ground, so be aware of that when you visit. It is only open on Saturdays between April and October, so plan accordingly. We were warmly greeted when we arrived. We paid the entry fee, as well as for some the "attractions," such as a pony ride for my son, and the "license to drive," (more on that later). I also paid for a large bucket of carrots ($6), and a smaller one for my son ($1). We were given full range of the ranch. It does, as advertise, consist of goats, horses, and donkeys, along with some of the more unusual animals, such as zebras, camels, and deer. I know this sounds lame, but the deer were my favorites. They were so gentle when taking the food, and so appreciative, coming out every time we approached the fence. The goats and camels were very aggressive, so be aware if you have little ones. Also, the camels really do try to kiss people. One tried to either kiss or nip my top knot, and my son got a sloppy kiss, too (pictured below). It is not recommended to feed the emus or the hog, as they are quite aggressive to the point of being dangerous. They could bite off someone's figure, so watch your children around them. My son was a bit apprehensive about the pony ride, so I stayed next to him. Shoutout to Diane, a volunteer, who snapped some photos and texted them to me later! The "license to drive" is a unique experience. You can choose between a donkey or a llama to lead around a short trail. At the end, your little one gets a little certificate that says, "License to Drive," which my son loved. We all had a great day, and will be recommending this experience to every family we know!

I love windswept ranch and I wish I didn't discover it on the last day of it being open. There are many animals ive never heard of or seen. They have plenty of space to roam. They eat well and generally seem happy. We will be back next season and we will bring our friends.

This ranch closes in the winter but will be open in April 2020 on Saturdays. they are currently out with their reindeer spreading joy and cheer.

Directions on how to find this place. Hope it helps!

I can't believe this place wasn't on yelp yet. I'm not gonna lie, it was a bit tricky finding this place. There is no address. The reason being because if you were to put the address in your gps, you would end up on the wrong place, out in the middle of nowhere! So, I posted a picture with a map to try to explain how to get there. Incase you get lost, call and leave a message (if they dont answer). They will call you back within 15-20 mins. Make sure to wear closed shoes cause your feet will get dirty. Once there, it is $5 per person. You will also get a little bucket with carrots to feed the animals. They had all different kinds. And you can pet most of them. The staff and volunteers were amazing too. Kids would love this place!! Can't wait to come back

    Up-close encounter with camels!

It is a wonderful experience! Kids and adults love it. The critters are friendly carrot lovers. I'd love to go more often.

Each Sunday the center offers guided tours (no walk-ins allowed) and visitors will need to book a session on their website. [Sunday Public Group Experiences & Prices]: It is a 75-minute guided tour that focuses more on education over physical contact. For adult (ages 13+), the price is $49.95 per person + online booking fees. I actually purchased the experience via Groupon with an additional 20% off. [Preparation]: Arrive 10 - 15 minutes early and wear comfortable closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, and layers for outdoor conditions. All visitors must complete an online waiver prior to attending. Water, Gatorade, coffee and snacks are available for purchase in the barn. [Parking]: Park as directed upon arrival and I was able to park within the premise of the barn. [Experience]: The tour started at 2 PM and ended at 3:30 PM. Our main guide Stacy was humorous. Each segment of the tour had its own specialist who shared knowledge on specific animals. During the tour, our party was able to see the following animals: horses/donkeys (with an opportunity to feed them lettuce leaves at no extra charge), hybrid wolves (with an opportunity to feed them by throwing food via a small window opening), cockatoos, armadillo, skunk, opossums, pigs, scorpions, porcupines, hedgehog, kangaroos, monkeys (including Tara who was featured in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl), sugar gliders (will need to ask the staff to see them), etc. Some animal got some clever pun names like Quillie Eilish (one of porcupines). [Barn]: There is a small gift shop at the barn and visits will also see cats running around the shop. [Conclusion]: The tour was extremely educational and it was quite an eye-opening experience to see these rescued animals. This is a much better visit than The Gentle Barn and the tour from Animal Tracks is the real deal. Highly recommended for any animal lovers. P.S. - Donation box is located within the barn. P.P.S. - Visitors can also take a centerpiece plant on the tables back home for free at the end.

My older loves animals, insects, and other non-human creatures so this place seemed perfect. We had been many years ago with our littles and they distinctly remember a giraffe so we figured their cousins would enjoy the experience too. We arrived at around 11 am on a Monday morning and found parking relatively easy- I think we were one of two families there which made it easy. There is a very small parking lot just outside the entrance and street parking. We entered through a really fun gift shop and made our way in. They have many exhibits of foxes, monkeys, birds, reptiles, and other small-to-medium sized animals to learn about. Each exhibit provided a learning display. We made our way through the "center" in just under two hours- really taking out time at each exhibit. Wr only noticed a couple of other families with littles as well, making it super easy to move through. While we say snakes foxes parrots and more, we don't see the giraffe . We did learn while we were there though that the giraffe was just visiting as it was being trained by the nextdoor business for television!!! Apparently that's a thing. Love L.A.! Ideal place for little kids! They have space for private parties, benches to enjoy a packed lunch (byobag situation), and a theater-education space where I believe they have events/activities, although we didn't see any. Pro-tip: sister purchase tickets on Groupon and saved money

They work really hard and take wonderful care of the animals.

Dirt road most of the way but it is clearly maintained. The foot traffic only areas are nicely designated with graded dirt paths lined on either side by rocks that show you where to walk and where not to walk. Signage is tastefully sparse but informative. There are also little kiosks along the way with pamphlets. They also have some docent guided tours. Didn't see any titles but I guess sometimes they avoid people. Anyway, it was a nice flat ground hike with desert scrub bushes, Joshua trees, insects, lizards, etc. It's not "touristy" but if you like wildlife preserves this is worth the trip. It will only cost you the drive.
