This was an upsetting experience and I was embarrassed for The Black Tie. To rent out a tux in that condition. Shame on you guys!! My son ended up wearing a tie instead of the bow tie. My stepdaughter, who is only 15 years old, came in with her friends and saw a dress she liked and put down a deposit for the dress. It was not explained to her that there are no refunds on deposits. They took advantage of her because she is a minor. I came in to talk to the manager about the situation and even though the manager had been in the store earlier that day, the worker who was there (Maria Jimenez) said the manager was "on vacation." I asked her to call the manager on the phone and she refused. I asked when the manager would be back and Maria said next week (today is Tuesday). Hmm... how convenient. Maria was extremely rude, condescending, and put on an Oscar performance at playing dumb. This is the first time I have been in this place of business and looking at the dresses, not only are they severely overpriced, but the materials look like the quality of gas station toilet paper. They look like $40 dresses at the L.A. swap meet, which is most likely where they were purchased. I asked for the deposit back, which they refused, despite selling and taking advantage of a minor. A deposit is a contract and minors cannot legally enter into contracts. I explained this and they still refused. Because of this, I will be filing a FORMAL complaint with the California Department of Consumer Affairs and the Better Business Bureau. Do not give them your business and repeat the same mistake.
