It was bustling with a DJ playing music with a an upbeat tempo getting everybody in a good mood. Everything is clean, ready to show, and organized. Everything was in its place with price tags and product info. All sales staff were on their game. Remember, this is a new store to the state, so no borrowing staff from a nearby store. And I was never left unattended in any department without someone offering to help with a smile. The only regret was that the grand piano, a staple of Von Maur stores, was not in play due to them opting for the DJ in its place. Never fear, the grand piano is present, though. She took each layer in meticulously and hand sewed the lace back on so that you'd never know a whole dress size was taken from the bodice. They're up front about what they can and cannot do when altering your items, their prices are very reasonable, and their turnaround time is relatively quick. For example, earlier this year I brought in a bridesmaid dress that had to be hemmed, and the work was done within a few weeks. I admittedly don't need things altered too often, but it's great knowing there's a reliable and reasonable place to go when the need arises. I provided the elderly person my credit card and said that if they needed to they could just pay the additional fee. But we did not get that far because the elderly person said to the desk people - "she said it's cleaned" and the response to their old and frail person was, "you lied." So they left shaking and I went in. I was immediatley told that we are barred and can never return. From my career I consistently hear negative comments about the rudeness of the staff. Seeing an elderly person shake at being called a liar was not okay. I am sharing so that the staff either take ownership of their anger or to warn others.

We had a few items that needed some simple alterations. I did some research and the reviews for…read morethis place seemed reputable. One of the items we took was a $200 shirt that needed hemmed. It was a shirttail hem and we instructed to take it up around 2in and make it a straight hem instead. Well, the returned shirt was taken up 2in, but the shirttail hem was kept so it was really taken more than 2 in. The shirt is now unwearable. I called the number and they proceeded to tell me that the number was just an "answering service" and they would have someone call me back. I have not received a call back and now when I call it goes straight to voicemail. We had a to buy another shirt to replace this one- so this has now turned into a $400 mistake on their end and they refuse to correct the situation.
