Julia showed us how to change that behavior and be the leader of the pack for our dog. He also was always underfoot (especially in the kitchen) which created tripping hazards. Within the first day of working with Julia our dog had created a new behavior and stayed out of the kitchen. She has helped us with three very different dog personalities and sizes from a feisty/possessive 10 lb chihuahua to a submissive yet reactive 66 lb German Shepherd (and our little 14 lb terrier that just needs a little tweaking here and there). Julia's training style is not a positive/treat rewarding style per say-it's somewhat of a balance of btwn selective positive rewarding for "tricks" or abnormal behaviors (or fears) and quick corrections with tools (either a stick/extension of your arm or a specific style collar/leash that fits the needs of your dog). All 3 of our dogs have a different leash/collar & works perfect for each of them. The type of training is also about the mind set you're in. You don't wait to make corrections when they've done something wrong so many times that you're angry. You need to be focused and serious when you do have to correct. She also got us to kennel train when we're away which we didn't think would work out too well with our two small ones that have free roamed forever, but all three actually do very well and even sleep in there when we're home. Bottom line is if you're looking for a positive reward training only- that's not this. But if you're looking for something that strikes a balance but still allows you a great bond with your dog- then definitely try B the Leader.

She also shows them and takes immaculate care of these wonderful dogs. At the outset we were looking for a puppy. We have experience with Shibas and were excited to add one to our home. We connected with Charlotte and Frank then traveled from Portland to meet them and put a deposit down on a puppy to be born later this year. While visiting this great family and their amazing dogs, we were lucky enough to find out that one of the 7 year old female Shibas was ready for her Forever Home. Long story short, we are completely blessed to have her in our home now as a companion dog for us. Her temperament is exceptional. She is extremely well trained, and the transition has gone really well. The care, love and attention Charlotte and Frank put into these pup's is second to none. It shows in their spirit, their thick healthy coat, their vet records, and in all interactions with Charlotte and Frank. It was tough for Charlotte to part with our Shiba, and understandably so. She made the transition very smooth, writing out all kinds of information, teaching us First Aid for dogs, providing ample information for any unexpected scenarios, and even bundling up our new pup with a blanket of familiar smells. I'm a first time puppy owner and I don't know what to do with him. I was scrolling through Instagram came across Curious K9 and I thought ok I'll give them a try. I recognized her last name and realized I was in the right place. I will never for get the first phone call with LeeAnn and I cried through the whole phone conversation. I think I answered a couple of questions. One thing I didn't like about other dog trainers that I tried was all the games and confusing dog training style .With my very first appointment with them, they knew the problem and got on it immediately to help me and my lab. They were very good with helping me when I wasn't quite sure if I was doing the right thing. They are amazing. I took every class they recommended. I also did doggie day care with training two days a week for a month. I now have the very best relationship with my boy. He has been an only dog for 4 years now and while good with other dogs at the park, he wasn't social with them and preferred people. I decided to try doggie daycare. He wasn't thrilled at first, whining a lot and not social. The staff worked hard at trying to make it work for him and he got to where he was good for full days. They kept at it and found ways to redirect his anxiety and I was able to leave him for 5 days boarding while on a trip. He learned to play with others and settled in wonderfully. He used to hesitate when I left him, now he runs in excited and barking and doesn't look back! The facility is well organized, clean and comfortable, full of activities with ideal conditions for any dog. The staff is kind, caring, knowledgeable and proficient in dog training.
