Meh. Windows Off Washington COULD be classy, but in my experience, it was completely off. 1. Why, oh WHY are there what look to be like fake plants in random locations? And WHY are they mixed in with real plants? Take all those out and the space would improve dramatically, instantly. 2. The CO2 canisters lining the walls? I know it's supposed to be a "so ugly it's chic look," but I think it's just fug. 3. Everything looked dated and grungy. I didn't feel it was particularly clean. 4. For the event I attended, all of the glasses behind the bar were still stacked in those crates - piling HIGH (like 6-7 feet off the ground). Nothing says class like gross blue plastic crates in the background of every picture. Disappointing experience for me. read more

My sister was lucky enough to be one of the first people to ever have her reception in this renovated 1920's building. There are two ballrooms Windows On Washinton and Windows Off. My sister had too many people to get the nicer "ON" ballroom but the "off" was just as fantastic. It was a sit down dinner for over 500 guests. Yeah sound ambitious? Quite. The menu consisted of filet mignon, and fish or chicken. Light appetizers and all the fixings. The food was good but I think that's because I was at the "head" table. Some friends at the wedding were just getting their food as I was finishing but can you imagine how many servers it would take to serve 500 people at the same time? The view was outstanding since you are10 stories above everyone else and overlooking downtown St. Louis. The inside had loft height ceilings and other elaborate touches. The open bar ALL night was probably the real expensive aspect of the wedding. All of my in-laws are from Wisconsin and L-O-V-E alcohol. The grand total for her wedding for ~500 people was roughly $50 but that was 6 years ago. Highly reccommend Windows On or Off Washington for any special event! read more

As someone who owned a professional wedding planning company for four years let me just say - there is nothing "WOW" about Windows Off Washington. Now don't get me wrong - the patios and views are amazing. But when it comes to events, this place is the McDonald's of spaces. Pre-packaged, pre-fabricated, high-volume madness that turns every wedding into a boxed lunch instead of a one of a kind event. Because there are so many events going on at the same time you are likely to bump into another bride while you are in the bathroom. Every single event is the spitting image of all the others with the same boring chicken or steak menu - it's a bit like the movie Groundhog Day. Not to mention everyone in St. Louis has most likely been to at least one event, if not many more, there. Cheers to thinking outside of the box. read more

The Lawyer's Club, situated high on the top floor in a sky scrapper in downtown St. Louis is like the ultimate place to go for a nice fancy dinner. Walking from the below ground parking and taking the elevator up to the lobby, getting off, and then getting back onto another express elevator all the way to the top, you can't not help feel as though you are emperor of the universe. Of course I'm not the emperor of the universe, yet, and I only ended up there eating with my family. Inside the tables are set up with people sitting quietly looking out over the city and the river. Up there where the air is very clear, the drinks are served with a nice balance of alcohol and whatever the other ingredients might me. I started my night off with gen and tonics, later making my way to champagne. That night I ordered nice salmon dinner with some kind of white sauce. It was nice and tasty. You could actually say that it was sitting quite well and comfortably in yummy land. Yeah that sounds cheesy, but it tasted wonderful. The Lawyer's Club is a great place. I would say that it is a great place to go for a romantic dinner at night (thought you will have to rent it out), with the city lights below. Awesome place. read more

Windows Off Washington will always be a popular venue no matter what I write about. Options for space that can hold hundreds of guests is not that many in the STL. Having said that, I don't think WOW takes it for granted but it in general, it isn't an inspiring space but it gets the job done and it has potential if you have a budget for design and decor. I have attended everything from fashion shows, weddings and art events in this space. In the evening the view of the STL skyline is unmatched. Catering is standard in taste and selection. It's pricey but as I said, if you have a few hundred guests to accommodate, WOW is one of the places that can handle it. I personally would not have a wedding reception there but fashion shows are good because of the open space and any charity event with a drinking component is a-okay in my book to host at WOW. read more

Wow is right (that's their acronymn). It's gorgeous. People often get confused between Windows On Washington vs. Windows Off Washington, as do I. I prefer the Off one, because there's a magnificent view of the city on a gorgeous balcony. I went here for an art show once, and it was truly idyllic. Granted, I haven't been in the On part, but I don't think there's a view. This is an incredible event venue for sure. read more

Ooooooh I love me some renovated buildings. I went here for a wedding reception, and the whole place was very cool and impressive, especially for being in a dying (but hopefully starting-to-be-revitalized) city. No offense to St. Louisians - I really do like your city! Anyhoo, there's a Windows Off and On Washington, which is insanely confusing but there were a ton of employees guiding us to where we needed to be. There was even a shuttle to drive us the one block from the lot to the place, though we didn't take it (my guess is that's it's for the suburbanites terrified of the City after dark?), and people hanging out there pointed us in the right direction. The food was on the better side of good for wedding food, we were on the top floor of the building with a great view of the city looking east and a balcony for the drunkards to spit and throw cigarettes over. If only all wedding venues were this cool! read more

The only WOW thing about WOW is the incredible view, and they really can not ruin that. The food was average, the staff had no idea what was in the hors douevres (what is someone had an allergy, for petes sake?), and didn't even know what the main course was. By the way, my camera went missing and when I talked to the owner the next day he said I should have kept an eye on it and was not even sympathetic about it. SO.... if you are to be a guest at WIndows Off Washington (or On Washington, for that matter - same owner apparently) you might want to eat before you arrive and keep any valuables on your person. My husband and I just attended a wedding reception at this location. The view was incredible. The floor-to-ceiling windows wrap around three sides of the ballroom, allowing you to get a panoramic view of downtown Saint Louis. Having an event at night means you get the sunset and the nighttime lights as well. Very pretty--a five-star view. The best part of the evening was spent walking outside along the wrap-around balcony, taking in the view. However, the food was atrocious! Several entrees were served cold at our table. The salads were very basic and too thick with dressing. My salad had the spines from an artichoke in it--a choking hazard! The meat wasn't spectacular, according to the people at our table. (They described it as too rubbery.) However, I'm a vegetarian and I LOVED their ravioli dish. If you're attending a wedding there, consider ordering the vegetarian dish just because it's better than the meat options. The service was all right. We weren't close to the head table, so we probably weren't high on the priority list. The staff forgot to give our table coffee. Someone had to track them down to get coffee 30 minutes after the other tables around us had been served. So, overall, it was a spectacular room with great ambiance. The food was pretty bad, and the service was all right. But the bride, groom, and their families were radiant with happiness. That's all that matters in the end! read more

Umm yea I booked my reception there about a month ago...3 weeks later they called and said they sold the building!? So now I have to find a new reception venue! Granted I'm glad they called before it hit the news and I have a lil while before my wedding and they are supposedly giving us a refund(still waiting on that). Why book people if you know the building is up for sale!!!? read more

My daughter recently had her wedding reception at Windows Off Washington. Although the room was nice with a separate terrace overlooking the city, there were many problems that night: 1) Only 1 bartender was on duty so a huge line formed for drinks 2) Table service was performed by inexperienced, rushed and uncaring staff that delivered the bread and butter after the cake was served, removed dishes before the food was eaten and refused to bring more cake. Napkins were absent on several tables. 3) The salad was embarrassingly cheap looking 4) The steak and salmon was overcooked to the point of being inedible. 5) The staff supervisor was not cooperative when better service was requested 6) The WOW shuttle bus driver refused to take departing guests to the Hampton Inn Hotel. read more

I was not a fan at all of this place. I went to a wedding here this weekend, and I'm a vegetarian (I know, I should just eat meat), but literally, their vegetarian meal was a place of broccoli with a few carrots. Also, I think it's super tacky that you can see into the sales room when you're walking into one of their reception rooms. read more

Attended my daughter's dance studio's performance here. The service at this place is AWFUL!!!!!!! The studio was sold a bill of goods! Told someone was to be there at 7 AM, so that sound, staging and our trucks could unload - no one was there. We sat in the cold for an hour and a half waiting trying to find someone who could help, then were given a number of excuses. Our dancers showed up ON TIME (better than WOW people) for rehearsal, but we were still unloading and setting up. They apparently ran out of food for the receptions, people who bought tickets were upset and hungry. Our dancers performed beautifully, just wish WOW could have performed the same. Terrible NEVER again, we will take our performances and business elsewhere!!!!! read more

If you are thinking about having an event at Windows Off Washington, think again! They promised us plenty of staff (wait staff, bartenders, etc.) but during the event they took several of our waiters to work in other areas and left us with one bartender for over 200 guests! The line for drinks was horrendous! (I recommend that you get the amount of staff in writing ahead of time.) By the way, if you do have your event there, don't leave ANYTHING of value on the table, it may disappear! Several guests called me to report missing cell phones and cameras. Run, don't walk to anywhere but WOW. read more
