We then went across the street to Slate for the reception. Since it was just a reception here I can't speak to what it is like for a full service event. It is a relatively spartan even space and there aren't a lot of frills. There are high ceilings, good natural lighting from the floor to ceiling windows, and the area is open and airy. It is on the first floor so you get people walking by and starting, but that isn't a major deal. The area leading to the bathrooms/back rooms was kind of exposed and inelegant which is the only reason I'm giving it four stars.

Super shocked Orlando's has so little views on Yelp! Let's get those up!…read more The reason for my visit was that they were hosting a free tasting of select items on their menu. According to Mr. Orlando himself, they (now) offer a free tasting 3 times a year. So if you're planning an event, make sure to add them on your list. This was helpful for my fiancé and I as we have contracted with them for our wedding. Moving on, the location itself is located right off 55 which makes it convenient for traveling. All of the sales representatives were present and assisting with check-in, serving, and connecting with attendees. Vendors were also available (formal wear, travel, photo and DJ, ice cream). The tasting was more than I imagined. Typically when you think of a "tasting" you think of being served a small sample size. Instead, they legit offered a signature appetizer and had a self serving buffet complete with several items from both of their classic and deluxe menus. They also offered two new chef specials and a slice of cake from Wedding Wonderland cake shops. Wonderful experience Orlando's!

Two of us went to their inaugural Thanksgiving buffet this year without knowing much about…read moreOrlando's and we were quite pleased! It's basically a big banquet hall with tables to seat parties as small as ours to families of 12 or more and everything in between. As I said, it was buffet style with generous servings of all the traditional sides plus salad, macaroni and cheese, Brussels sprouts, and a LOT of dessert options (the pecan pie was the stand out winner). There was a carving station with turkey, ham, and roast beef. The staff was incredibly organized and kept the food fresh and the serving dishes full. It never felt too crowded or less than festive. They had a moment where a chef with a large chopping knife chased a turkey (person in an inflatable turkey costume) around the room for entertainment. A family sitting near us even brought their own games to play after they were done eating; they must have known they could stay and hang out due to the timed seatings. We are already considering returning for Mother's Day brunch.

Place is really cool old brick building. We were upstairs with gorgeous St.Louis view! They need to hire qualified people for their valet parking.

We toured the NEO several times even after booking just to make sure we got a good feeling for the layout and had several chances to ask questions. There is always a staff member there to stop and talk to you, which was nice! Cathy, the owner, lives out of state, but is available via email what seemed like 24/7! She never complained about my numerous emails and always provided me with respectful, prompt, and detailed answers! The night of her staff was nothing short of amazing! I didn't have to worry about a single thing the entire night. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for a large St. Louis venue! Oh and they have free valet and overnight parking!

Our small group of five or six were literally yelling to be able to hear what another person was saying. Lots of creative Christmas themed cocktails. The food was good - just not a whole lot to choose from (two types chicken salad sandwiches on slider buns and only one hot item (potato skins). Pretty pricey too, but since entry was free I guess they had to make their money somehow. I'll be on the lookout for more events from this group!

I do wish they had more snow or something to go with the name of the pop-up, which is frozen. However, I did very much enjoy the blue lighting and the bourbon drinks. The wedding I went to there was great, with pretty much no thanks to the venue. The "light show"…read moreduring dancing was awkward at best. The two men's room toilets had no door and no walls, respectively. One lady's room stall had a view into the kitchen. Most glaring, the in-house DJ was awful. Right after the first dance, he decided, without permission or even awareness from the newlyweds, to play some sort of elaborate military tribute. It colored the whole rest of the night, and not in a positive way. During the night, he just looked so upset to be there. At the end of the night, he chimed in to warn drivers away from a certain neighborhood in the area, claiming it was the "Ferguson of South County", a pretty clearly racist statement. If you rent this space, make sure the bathrooms are fixed first, and definitely bring your own DJ.

Stone House Of St. Charles This place isn't worth it. Don't…read moreget me wrong the place is unquestionably beautiful. However, the owner Ruth overshadows that with her rudeness, condescension, pushiness, and interference. Stone House isn't cheap so you would think you would be able to have your wedding the way you want it. Not with Ruth around. A wedding day should be about the bride and groom. If you want it that way do not use Stone House. There are lots of venues that are just as pretty that don't come with an owner who is overbearing and tries to force you do what she think you should want vs what you as a couple actually want. My husband and I got married there a few weeks ago and I hardly know where to start so I'll go in order. First, you can only used one of her caterers and of the five only one will respond so it's not a stretch to figure out that they are friends. The food was so-so and the carterer was easy to work with so I can make my piece with that. Second, the bar BOOZE BROTHERS. You are required to use them and they are impossible to work with because of their lack of communication. I would be hazard to guess that the only reason they are in business is because of Stone House. Nobody would book them otherwise. Ruth's son runs Booze Brothers. The only way to reach them is to email mommy and after she or her husband reaches out to them, they will respond to an email. There was a required meeting with Ruth a few weeks before the wedding. I knew then that we were going to have a problem. She'd ask a question and before I could finish a sentence she'd interrupt and keep talking. I tried to tell her what we wanted and how we wanted things set-up and not only did she keep interrupting she argued with me that what we wanted wasn't a good idea. Just for context part of what I do is directing production shows which includes organizing local and national talent. I know how to put on an event. It only took about ten minutes for me to just sit back and let my husband talk. She tried to interrupt him also, but he just kept talking until she eventually, reluctantly agreed we could set up our wedding and reception the way we wanted. Ruth requires rehearsals to be the Thursday before the wedding at her designated time. So, good luck to anyone in your wedding party who is coming in from out of town. When we arrived, I began introducing people and then started from the beginning of the ceremony and intended to go in order until the end. Well, Ruth had no intention of letting that happen. She wanted to start in the middle and then circle around to get back to the beginning. Since our previous meeting, my husband and I had come up with a pretty nice way to honor my parents who had passed which meant it moved where some people sat. So, I was having to go around behind Ruth correcting her as she went. Ruth is a very loud woman and asked me if I wanted her to run the rehearsal or not. I told her I did not that I was perfectly cable of running a rehearsal. I had also told her this when we arrived. Evidently, it was a rhetorical question because she kept talking and directly people the way SHE wanted them to be. I was frustrated and tired of arguing with her so I sat down and watched with some amusement about the ludicrously as she stumbled through the most unorganized and confusing rehearsal, I had ever seen in almost 40 years. What resulted was a group 12 people leaving rehearsal without a clue as to what they were doing. So, I had to conduct 12 individual rehearsals on Friday and Saturday before my wedding started. Ruth also said they she would be running things the day of the wedding and her "team" would be giving instructions and orders. I put my foot down there and told her there would be no one ordering anyone around. The person running the wedding would by our DJ. As far as the DJ, it is included in her price. However, Ruth refuses to let you meet with him or her prior to the wedding. I would never agree to let someone in such an important role be selected without a meeting. That, in my opinion, is a recipe for disaster. So, my husband and I spend the money to hire our own DJ and it was money well spent. Despite the fact that Ruth made her life miserable for a week before the wedding and made digs at her the day of, she was professional and made sure that things went according to the plan my husband and I laid out. The day of the wedding, I gave my bridesmaids one job. Keep Ruth away from me. Unfortunately, her "team" wasn't much nicer than she was. The day went smoothly because our DJ did take over and my Husband's mother oversaw the set-up. Ruth sent her rules at least four or five times and they are all listed in the contract. We obeyed every rule no matter how small or stupid it was. However, Ruth violated her own contact. Her contract states that Stone House will get, set-up, and repack any items that are brought in exactly as they receive them. I packed every box carefully and labeled them. About 9
