So happy with the results!…read more I am so happy we chose Clear Choice as our contractor! From the very beginning, the planning, material choices and communication created the vision we were looking for. For us they transformed the exterior of our house to like new condition (actually better) with the addition of all new windows, doors, siding and gutters. A lot of contractors are capable of doing this but, the attention to detail and the craftsmanship is what sets Clear Choice apart and in my opinion far ahead of the competition. The crew! The Craftsmanship, Attention to Detail, True Concern for as High Quality outcome as possible was exhibited throughout our project. Far and Beyond what I was hoping for! The crew has state of the art tools and they take true pride in the outcome of their work. Throughout the project they kept the project site (our home) very clean and organized. They were vacuuming regularly, covering furniture and protecting our furnishings, it was never a mess. The crew were truly nice fellows and very considerate, it was a true pleasure to know them and better yet have them perform their magic to our home! The craftsmanship really shows when something about the structure is out of the ordinary and a solution needs to be found to make sure a good outcome is achieved. This was never a problem and no shortcuts were taken. Things on the home that had looked out of sorts for decades, because the house was made that way, were addressed and taken care of. I can't stress enough the attention to detail, this crew was outstanding! Communication was always clear as was their punctuality. I would (and have) recommend Clear Choice to my friends and family. As a retired General Building Contractor I am not easily impressed and my expectations are very high and Clear Choice and their amazing crew blew me away!

Ashton and his company provided outstanding service from start to finish. After an urgent leak,…read moreAshton was on-site within two hours to provide a temporary fix and provided a quote the next day. Within two weeks of hiring them, the team replaced my roof and installed new gutters and downspouts as an added bonus. Even with a significant downpour during the project, they remained professional and left the property spotless. Their responsiveness and attention to detail are rare--I wouldn't hesitate to call them again.

We called Ashton in November of 2023 for a bid of all new windows, new siding, and new roof for…read moreboth our garage and house. He gave us an estimate and we signed the contract in January of 2024. We read our contract and ashton wasn't going to do the jambs and trim of any of the windows (we have 11 windows). We had to call around to other contractors to finish his job, there was not a single contractor that would take the job. So we were brutally honest with him and said we cant get anyone to finish YOUR JOB, he said he doesn't like to go in people's houses. To properly install any window or door you need to go inside the house to shim. He eventually agreed to do all jambs and trim. He and his crew started our roof in March of 2024 it was "completed" in a day and a half. We were mostly impressed by the quickness. We arrived home after work and saw that we had box vents placed at the top of our peak. We have a knee wall so the vents should have been placed in that area, however his crew placed them in insulation and we had to have them take them out and patch them and put them in the correct spot. His workers also cut our roof for the ridge vent, just shingled over it, but never installed it till months later when we pointed it out. Fast forward to April when they started the siding and windows. They removed all the siding. My brother-in-law wanted to use our siding, so he brought a trailer and they were supposed to place ALL the siding on that. They didn't even give him usable pieces, they threw all the usable pieces away. So my brother-in-law that lives over an hour away wasted his time and gas for nothing. They started taking windows out, one by one and each window we had to had to be redone....because there was no insulation. We live in the Midwest, how in the hell do you not insulate windows? Everything they did had to be redone because nothing was correct, we had to babysit every step of the way. This was obviously the biggest project Ashton had ever taken on. We had to remind ashton of single thing along the way, which also meant they had to keep redoing things along the way. We were incredibly frustrated because we were never a priority to him! he was so busy taking on other jobs. He barely showed up, he knew we were mad that this project was stretched out for so long, but didn't really care. He talked about all his guys and how he puts them in the spots he needs them the most. But honestly he doesn't have a big team. He has 2 main guys. He talks a big talk and promises you the world, but doesn't really come through on that. Ashton says if it says he's gonna do something, he's gonna do it, but that's all talk. Ashton told us that our project would be done by early may. We weren't completed till mid June. If he would focus on one job that would help, but he doesn't! He shows up with materials and leaves, we rarely saw him actually get his hands dirty. He's very young and lacks the experience, our house looks great! But that's inspite of him. We would take 2 steps forward and 10 steps back. Ashton does not communicate well, you have to hound him and then you'll get the answer you need. We had a return of items and ABC just showed up we had no idea what needed to go and what needed to stay. He is too occupied with other things and he gets very scatter-brained. His crew is amazing, but he is a very poor business owner. Ashton has a bit of a temper. he was installing one of our windows and and broke the middle molding of the window. he did reapply it but after that happened we were scared to talk to him about anything. He said he told his crew to be careful around our shrubs and plants but they didn't care. They completed killed 5 plants, busted several limbs off of another. Killed our grass in the front yard and back yard. Zero respect for your property. We have very expensive stamped concrete and he said he didn't want them working on it. Yet he put wood putty on the window trim and got it all over our concrete...and it's still there and we still cant get it off!! It's been 6 months that our job "completed" the siding on our garage is falling off, but we had to fix that ourself because he's not coming back. He said he was going to come back to trim our back door...but once again...not a priority! Ashton doesn't guarantee his work! When it comes to Construction you know what you want done to you're house, and what you don't. we told ashton what we wanted he argued with us, that we never agreed it. If you are a good business owner the proper method is, the customer is always right! Especially when it is THEIR HOUSE!!!

If I didn't take it upon myself to constantly push who knows how long it would've taken to get everything right. I also did the 12 months 0% financing, so they got their money up front through the loan company and I had no leverage to get the project completed. I sat down with the sales rep on 12/20/2024. Everything seemed okay despite the sales rep being pushy about signing the paper work that day to lock in a discounted rate. On 1/10/2025 I received an update that materials were ordered and I was contacted early February to setup the install for 2/20/2025. That is when the issues began. The crew that arrived to install the windows spoke zero English and the foreman spoke very minimal English. While drop cloths were used inside to contain most of the construction debris, nothing was done for the exterior of the house. Large pieces of wood, aluminum, old window springs, broken glass, and spray foam were left scattered around the exterior of the house. During the installation the crew broke the glass on one of the windows. They put masking tape over the cracks to protect from injury and had me sign a paper that the window sash needed replaced before the job could be marked complete. I confirmed there was nothing else I needed to do to get it fixed before the crew left. A couple weeks later, I still had heard anything about the replacement sash and had noticed one of the other windows moved in the frame. I attempted to reach out to both the project manager and sales rep. Neither would answer their phone or call me back, so I ended up calling the corporate number. I was then informed that the new sash still hadn't been ordered. They then scheduled a follow up to look at both windows for 3/14. During the follow up it was determined that new planes were needed for the window that moved and the new sash would be ordered. There was also a problem with the broken sash opening and I was told the new sash would fix that as well. On 3/25 I received email confirmation that the new windows were ordered with an expected delivery date of 5/9. That date came and went without any updates. I again couldn't get the project manager to answer his phone and reached out to corporate. They confirmed the materials were delivered and that the manager should be reaching out to schedule the installation. I then took it upon myself to request an escalation above the manager I was dealing with as he obviously wasn't interested in completing my project. I was then placed on the schedule for 6/13 for the install. During the install I was informed that Derrick would be taking over my project. The new panels and sash did not fix the issues wiht the moving window or the difficulty opening. I was then told the wrong panel size was ordered and that a technician would have to come out and look at the window that wouldn't open. I asked if it was going to be another 3 months and was informed a "rush" would be put on the order. I was then told to reach out to Derrick moving forward and he would make sure the job was finished properly. I never received the email confirmation that the new panels were ordered, so I attempted to reach out to Derrick to which I received no response. I did get the email for the order confirmation on 6/30 and that they would be in on 8/1. Once again that date came and went. I still couldn't get a response from Derrick and had to reach out to corporate for an update. They had to reach out to scheduling because the Cedar Rapids office wasn't doing it. I was able to get on the schedule for 8/29. That morning, the crew did not show up within the 2 hour time slot and I had to reach out to corporate for an update. I was then informed the crew was going to be an hour late and that someone should've reached out to let me know. When they finally arrive they replaced the window panes, but the window still moved side to side in the frame. They were going to leave it, but I requested they perform an air test to make sure there was a proper seal as my other 2 windows that were the exact same didn't have that problem. They also determined the other window was not installed level. They had to remove and reinstall the window to fix the opening issue.

The windows have not changed anything for us, have not kept our house any warmer or cooler. We are extremely disappointed in this. We had the windows installed twice due to poor instillation. I didn't even know they did bathrooms until I seen my uncles. They needed to send out the sales rep a second time to get something signed again that was missed at the first meeting. When I opened the door I was greeted to a sales rep I didn't meet previously, no biggie but the reminder was saying it was the previous rep I met with. We talked about the bathrooms I wanted added. I asked about the staining of the tubs because we live in the country and even though we take extra steps to filter out the iron staining it still comes through some. I was assured that it would not be a problem and that all I'd have to do is give it a wipe here and there and it wouldn't be a problem. I agreed and finished the paperwork. I was told it would be about 6ish week before they get the materials and about 8 weeks before they start. In the meantime they would send someone out to get mmeasurements of the windows. That rep came to do the windows and when I let him know I added on the baths and per the rep that helped me he was to get those measurements as well He informed me that its not on his papers so he is not doing it and they would have to schedule him to come back out another time. So, another time he came back out. The sales rep back out again bc of more measurements. Well 8 weeks passed I heard nothing about what was going on, so I called to be told it would be another 4 weeks. So, 4 weeks goes by I call again, I am told 2 weeks, and they will get it going. I asked if it would be the week of Thanksgiving and if i should plan on the first week in December, I was assured no it would be that last week of November. I had signed the contract in August/September. The start first week in December and got the windows done that one day. They did leave all the residue on all the windows from the stickers for me to clean up because they couldn't get it all off. They came back the next day to finish the bathrooms. A week into having the windows my big kitchen apron window cracked up the middle and to the left and a crack came down from the top down to the right in the middle. I called and had to wait another 3-4 weeks for them to get that replaced and once they did it didn't close properly so another part was ordered and I waited another 3 weeks or so. There was a hole other issue with the fan vents in the bathrooms that were to be replaced, after another 6 weeks or so and 3 different contractors it was finally completed. One contractor left a hole in the ceiling next to the fan/vent and left the box of handwear from the old one here with my kids in my kitchen. I have since found shape debris from the windows all around my house outside. When I do talk to a manager they don't follow through on responding to me or my concerns. I have not heard from anyone since beginning of April and my bathroom faucet still needs to be fixed. I do not recommend Mad City at all. They don't communicate with me; they lied about the product and quality to get a sale out of me. They told me to fix the iron stains which showed up in my tub 4 uses after being installed was to use a certain cleaning agent, so I now have to clean it after every use or have yellow coloring on the white shower/tub. They did take a drinking water sample for the water and from the looks of the results the iron was in normal range. I am very disappointed in this company and will never use them every again. I will also never recommend them if anyone is asking or thinking about them. I had to constantly reach out for any information about the products/ services.

We hired Mad City to install a single, plain front door. The salesperson was excellent and assured…read moreus the door would be custom made, high quality, and equipped with an advanced locking mechanism for added security. We were also told the door would have a bottom seal designed to block outside air completely. Based on these representations, we believed we were purchasing a premium $9,000 door. What we received was extremely disappointing. The door looked like a standard door you could buy at Home Depot, not a high-end custom product. The door itself was warped, and although the installer was very professional and clearly skilled, he spent three full days trying to make the door work properly. The locking mechanism, which runs the full length of the door, was also warped--sticking out on one side and recessed on the other, making the defect very noticeable. Mad City returned three separate times to attempt to correct the issue, but each attempt required removing and reinstalling the hardware. As a result, the door became damaged from repeated screw and handle removals. After these failed attempts, Joe, the site manager, told us this was "as good as it gets" and stated that if we wanted a new door, we would have to pay another $9,000. This was completely unacceptable. I escalated the issue to higher management, and once they reviewed the photos, they agreed the door was defective and approved ordering a replacement. Unfortunately, when the replacement door arrived, it already had a notch on the front near the handle, and the locking mechanism was still warped and not flush with the door. Joe then suggested having the installer once again attempt to remove and adjust the mechanism. At that point, we refused. We were not willing to go through the same damaging process again or accept another compromised door. in order to get this resolved, I need to contact the manufacturer and have them send a letter stating their doors are not defective and below standards. I would not recommend Mad City nor will I ever use them again once I get my issue resolved.
