I told them what I liked and they made up a drink for me. It was perfection. They also have a long list of fancy cocktails you could choose from. It definitely is pricey, but I would say it's worth it. They also bring you olives and really good miso glazed almonds. (When ur 30, having a place to sit at a bar is kind of a big deal.) But, it really honestly didn't end up bothering me that we were standing most of the time, and I think we actually had more fun that way. This bar is ideally located near Belleville and on rue Saint maur, across the street from Le dude. It's also minutes away from Le cafe Cheri, which is a fun place to head to after. The owner (the older grandma named Marie) is just so freaking adorable. She really makes u feel welcome and at home. So we made a reservation by phone and she made a point of coming and presenting herself to the person who made the phone reservation. And it was my bday and she sought me out and was like "are u the bday girl?" And gave me and my BF delicious shots on the house. I wanna adopt her. Can I have her? Please? Also she is the sweetest - she set up the whole downstairs area for us (which we didn't end up using as we preferred to stay upstairs) and she wasn't even mad after setting up all those chairs for nothing. The bar staff was extremely friendly and educated us on the history of the bar. Both bartenders spoke english and were from United States. It was explained to us that Lulu White was a brothel madam, that was concidered to have more power than the mayor of New Orleans during the late 1800s. Her brothel contained a "Blue Book" that allowed patrons to chose their companion via photos. The Lulu White bar, took this concept and allows you to chose your drink according to the individuals photographed in the "Blue book". We were told the individuals listed in the book change about every 6 months but the Lulu White drinks remains constant. I tried the Lulu White: Altos Anejo Tequila, Plymouth Gin, Genepi, Absentroux, and Cardamon noir. It came in a elegant beautiful glass and It tasted like a dry martini with a licorice flavor from the absinthe. This was definitley a drink you sip on to enjoy. The décor of the bar, resembled historical New Orleans with its dim lighting and elegant décor and half moon booth seating.
