Great food, big portions and great friendly service!!! Prices, well it's inland seafood and it's going to be pricey.

Water-We Eatn

Water-We Eatn

I have eaten here several times since I moved to Camden, SC in May of last year and the food has…read morealways been very good. The name, Water We Eatin,' is a clever play on the nearby Wateree River and the age-old question, What Are We Eating? The previous owners recently sold the establishment and I went back for the first time since then this week. The new owners kept most of the staff, the name of the restaurant, the menu and the prices. The prices can't be beat and the staff has always been very friendly. The location is kinda in the middle of nowhere. It appears to be an old gas station that has been repurposed. To me, it screams South Carolina and I like that. I got the rib-eye steak ad baked potato without thinking I also got it the last time I ate here before the ownership change. The difference between the two dining experiences eye opening and I don't mean that in a good way, I am sorry to say. As soon as we began to put butter on our potato, the three of us realized it was not cooked all the way through. My fork would barely make a dent. I was already worried because that should have been the easiest part of the meal to get right and to check before it was brought out. The server was apologetic and said he would have the cook pop three new potatoes in the oven. Which is fine and we appreciated that, but now we had steak on our plate and no potato. So I started in on the steak. Last time the steak was very tender. Not so much this time. It was tough to cut. The seasoning was not as good this time as last. I don't know if the seasoning was different this time or if it was just not seasoned as much, but it was noticeable. The new potato when it came out was cooked fine, but the whole situation left a bad taste in my mouth, to use a bad pun. I liked the tea. Being from the south, I ordered it sweetened and it came just as I prefer, sweet, but not thick and syrupy like some places serve it. I am open to going back and if I do, I will update this review. People are allowed to have bad days. It may be a learning experience for the new owners. I am pulling for them as I prefer locally-owned places with character than cookie cutter national chains where every location looks the same. I hope to try their breakfast for the first time at some point.

The cocktails were the star of the night - ranging from $11 to $13 - both their classics and house creations were well balanced and worth trying. Table service was provided with attentive wait staff who weren't overbearing. The only miss for the night was the food. While certain items like the fries and the Brussels sprouts were great, other items like the burger and duck tacos didn't hit the mark with a burger that was too dry and overly charred and the tacos which were too gamey and could have used a some more acid. For a drink I'd certainly visit again, but would likely pass on food.

We came here for dinner and drinks on a date night. The environment is nice and cozy and when you…read morewalk in you see a beautiful dessert display! We of course had to try a slice of peanut butter cake. My husband loved it (he picked the dessert). I picked our drinks and they have an excellent drink variety. We started our meal with the queso tots and they were delicious! Wiped them out! I ordered the lobster mac and cheese and he got the philly cheesesteak. He absolutely raved about his sandwich and said it was the best he ever had. I wouldn't order the lobster mac again but it was presented beautifully. I look forward to going back and trying the mussels. I saw many of those orders coming out and definitely looked so good! Great spot to check out for drinks, desserts, and a bite!
