It's a beautiful farm in Arroyo Grande with farm animals you can visit and even feed! They have a nice area in the center that looks perfect for hosting intimate private parties! All the animals looked happy and healthy. I love how some of them had their own 'cabin' if they wanted to get some shade. The first animal we saw was a pig and that was a happy sight for the little ones.

My service dog was happy to meet the mini donkey who fell for her as well.

Stopped by here in our way to Santa Maria. It's a nice little rest stop. I'd like to give it 3.5 stars. There are some nest items, but it's now Feb. and they still have fair amount of Christmas out. Perhaps it wouldn't have been so jarring if it were all in one area, but it's spread out. The prices were just a tad bit tourist sized. They do have a beautiful venue for a small wedding, or reception/party. They do have an animal area with turkeys, goats, sheep and a mini horse. They were all friendly and well taken care of. I liked how the stables were decorated like old west store fronts. They do not offer food to feed the live stock so, they aren't nosey or mouthy.

Super cute shop, limited fresh produce, fresh eggs, lots of pickled and jarred veggies. Super helpful and very nice staff. The grounds are really beautiful and fun to walk around. I didn't get up to where they house the animals. There is a koi pond in the back area. This would be a great place for a variety of different events. The gift shop is great, many of the items are made in the USA and made locally (California). Did I purchase things...YES Will I be back...YES

This is a fun quick little stop. We enjoy going to see the animals and walk through the little store. The store is cute with some foods and gifts. They were selling fresh fish and eggs today, too. The animal section is pretty small but super cute. I wish they would sell feed like a similar place down the 101 does. I feel like it would bring them more business. It has a cute little garden section. And in fall we have gotten pumpkins here too. My teacher friend says they put on good field trips, as well.

Good Luck fitting this all in girls! I think they forgot we had a small SUV and 3 people.

My daughter's took me on a "Mom's Day." It was all about anything I wanted to do. We left Bakersfield for Pismo and SLO. This was the first stop on my wish list. The atmosphere is happy and the gift store is well displayed with a lot of fun items for everyone. We should have brought the truck! There was a wedding that looked like it was going to begin when the nursery closed. Personally, I would like to see more yard art pieces and gardening items, the pottery selection is generous though.

What a wonderful surprise this place turned out to be. A great alternative to the overcrowded Avila Barn. The ladies that work here couldn't be nicer. They've got beautiful pottery & succulent plants for sale. The store offers organic local grown produce and lots of treasures! There's even an area out back with animals and from the looks of it they host events perfect for a wedding or charity event. The only thing I didn't notice was ready to eat food but maybe they do and I was just there at the wrong time. Not a negative by any means.

We were up in the Avila Beach area at the local farmers market. My husband was so disappointed that the candied jalapenos he bought there on a previous visit weren't in stock. He was planning on buying out every single jar on the shelf. A nice lady overheard us talking about our failed mission and told us to try her local farmers market by her town of Santa Maria. That it would be right off of the highway on our way home and that they also carry a lot of the same types of gourmet/ novelty items. Also that there was other things to see there. Thank you, nice lady! Windmill Farms turned out to be a fun stop. At first glance, the word "whimsical" comes to mind. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/windmill-farms-arroyo-grande?select=DEhVdnzdpoWIU-ZXDEUMPQ#TBWgNitTLdrslUK68rgdEg The store is in the barn to your right. We weren't planning on picking up a lot of items but I was so tempted to wheel around one of these cool shopping carts just for the heck of it. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/windmill-farms-arroyo-grande?select=DEhVdnzdpoWIU-ZXDEUMPQ#P7ZiUdNWOcT6xiZzFq21vQ The produce section was small http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/windmill-farms-arroyo-grande?select=DEhVdnzdpoWIU-ZXDEUMPQ#dZ3v2dstUw-yhmndzoHhag most of the store were bottled gourmet/novelty items such as pickled veggies, salad dressings, hot sauces, etc. We did find some pickled jalapenos which kind of came close to what we were looking for and picked some up. Also found #2 Son's favorite Monkey Spit Atomic hot sauce. There's an arts & crafts boutique which is currently full of lovely Christmas items. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/windmill-farms-arroyo-grande?select=DEhVdnzdpoWIU-ZXDEUMPQ#grbxvlAQ1OPWbDv406Ze_A I enjoyed walking through the cute nursery where everything out there is for sale. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/windmill-farms-arroyo-grande?select=DEhVdnzdpoWIU-ZXDEUMPQ#D-v_k4PNbeTczl3WONN4kg http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/windmill-farms-arroyo-grande?select=DEhVdnzdpoWIU-ZXDEUMPQ#XCxBxu1EZ4fGcKfcmJR7aw Past the nursery you'll find the entrance to a petting zoo. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/windmill-farms-arroyo-grande?select=DEhVdnzdpoWIU-ZXDEUMPQ#gp_UcJeMy2Ygv6qo1jwb6g Even the livestock is up for sale! We didn't have time to walk through and only saw this mean-looking goat. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/windmill-farms-arroyo-grande?select=DEhVdnzdpoWIU-ZXDEUMPQ#Ls4WxJpnNsp9wP6vQVL56Q But, as we were back on the highway we could see that the farm actually was much bigger than it appeared to be from the front. There is a lot of ground used for the petting zoo. So there would be plenty for kiddies to see. Yup. Worth a visit when in the area!

Lovely family farm/small petting zoo/gourmet food store. Located in the rolling hills this place is a small gem. Super kid friendly without being commercial. You can stroll between over sized ceramic pots and statues for sale, large plant nursery or go on a self-guided tour of the petting zoo. Large and docile turkeys, mini horse and huge sheep and my boys loved the kids and their goat mamas. The store has a huge selection of gourmet food. Fresh fruit and veggies, fresh caught local fish. Jams, baked goods, olives, sauces, teas. Scented candles, lovely hand made jewellery. If you need to bring gifts back from your trip, this place is perfect and prices were fair compared to the rest of the places we visited. Will be back for more goodies.

Pricing was $7 for adults and $3 for kids under 12 plus $1 for each person wanting to feed the Ostrich and Emu. They come right up to you and just start pecking away! Tip: if you walk down further where the Emu are, there is more room to move around and plus there are lots of birds to feed. I think the Ostrich at the front of the entrance get most of the food - we felt bad not going to where the others were. The whole area was pretty cool - it kind of felt like we were on a safari with how picturesque the mountains and land were. The lady running the gift shop who also explained the rules was very nice! In my day…read more. I have been to so many Vineyards & even a few Farms too. But this place.. Is a twofer! Yeah, baby! A Vineyard AND a Farm! Beat that Napa Valley! Ok, Ok.. I know Napa Valley is like THE Mecca of Wineries, at least in California, & going there once before, I kinda understand, kinda. But is it really that much better? In my humble opinion.. Ehh. It was whatever Sure, I'm down dropping a nice crispy Benjamin to get that aged, vintage 2013 Cab.. But will I really care, or even notice once that bottle is depleted & I'm now ordering the 2nd least expensive Chenin Blanc on the menu just to wash away all my worries. (Suddenly, Every wine snob, wine aficionado & novice sommelier enters the chat) But, But Lance, it's Napa, How dare you speak against this Holy Land of all Superior Wine. And to that I say, I get it. I truly understand that not all wine is created equally, but also that not all of us have the BIG BUCKS to continuously drop $100 big ones on that prized Napa Cab. Hey, call me crazy, but to me, it's not just ALL about the wine that is produced, but more about the overall experience. It's the vibe. It's the way you are treated. & it's definitely about how they made you feel. Anyone else getting Maya Angelou vibes?? IYKYK ;) **All Wine Snobs have left the Chat** *Vega Vineyard and Farm has entered the chat* Alright team Vega, sit back, kick your feet up, & just listen while I brag a little about you. It was a BEAUTIFUL November afternoon just 4 days prior to Thanksgiving. We were heading back south from Paso Robles & decided to make a little pit stop before getting all the way back home. So my wife looked up wineries in the area that were kid friendly & Vega was at the top of the list. Walking in, we noticed that they had a little restaurant right at the entrance, so we went to put our name down for a table. Unfortunately, the wait time was a little longer than we wanted to wait, only because we had the kids with us, but the hostess suggested if we didn't want to wait, that they had more food on the other end of the farm in "Pops Place". Other than the wine itself, eating the food in "Pops Place" was probably the best move we could have unintentionally made that day. (I'll explain in a bit) So we slowly made our way towards the other side of the farm/vineyard & all I can say is, what a gorgeous property it was. The farm life, the outdoors, the weather, & I was with my Fam. It couldn't have been a better day! Once we got to Pops Place, it was like we entered into a whole new world. A huge area for kids with a jungle gym, stations for outdoor games & activities, benches to sit, even private cabanas you can reserve (not sure if there is a cost) & of course a little shack to order food and wine! So remember earlier when I said eating in Pops Place was probably the best move we could have made that day, Well here are 3 reasons why! 1) We ordered the George's Greek Gyro Pita w/fries (a beef gyro with lettuce, tomato, onions & tzatziki wrapped in a pita) and.. OH. MY. GAWDDD It was so flippin' GOOD! It was so good, that I didn't even have time to snap a pic, let alone set it down after taking that 1st bite. It was complete perfection! 2) Chicken Strips & Fries from the kids menu w/a side of ranch.. Let's just say, The kids loved 'em. 3) We washed it all down w/a beautiful, crisp, perfect for a fall day, 2024 bottle of their finest ALBARIÑO. & it was, EXCELLENT!! After we sat & ate, let the kids get out all of their energy, the fun at Vega continued. From there, we headed to feed the livestock on the property (lettuce sold onsite for a few bucks). There were Chickens, Goats, Pigs, Emu's & Sheep, and the kids and myself had a blast feeding 'em. After that, we stopped off at one of their gift shops to browse all of the fun stuff. Of course, we got the kids their requested candy! The staff we interacted with while at Vega were all so kind, welcoming & made us feel apart of the extended Vega family. Because of this, we will definitely be coming back next time we pass through. So, & this is where YOU come in! The next time you are passing through Buellton, do yourself, your spouse and your kids, if you've got them, a HUGE favor: Come check out Vega Vineyard & Farm and tell me that I was right!

I wish I'd read the plethora of negative reviews before buying chicks from this farm. It would have…read moresaved me from a total nightmare. I paid $50-$60 per bird for 5 chickens from Dare 2 Dream Farms because I believed I was buying healthy, responsibly raised animals from a higher-standard, "organic" operation. What arrived was the opposite. The transport box itself already contained bloody stool. Before the birds were even out, there was visible evidence of serious illness. Once inside, it became clear how severe it was. These chickens were emaciated to the point of feeling skeletal, weak, huddling, and not drinking. Within hours they were deteriorating and continuing to pass blood. This was not stress. These were critically ill animals on arrival. For comparison, I also bought 3 new chicks from a different source the day before (costing ~$20 per bird). Those birds were active, chirping, eating, and thriving immediately. The contrast was stark. An independent poultry specialist confirmed what was evident: these birds were severely compromised and had been for some time. This condition does not develop during transport. Beyond the condition of the birds themselves, this created a serious biosecurity risk. I have an established, healthy, happy flock of 13 hens and 3 chicks. Introducing visibly sick birds -- with active bloody stool -- put my entire flock at risk of infection. I had to immediately isolate, treat, and manage the situation as a potential contamination event, spending the next 9 days in intensive, around-the-clock care trying to keep the new birds alive while protecting the rest of my flock. Nightmare and ethical dilemma. The response from the farm made the situation worse. The condition was initially minimized as "normal", then explanations shifted. At the same time, I was repeatedly encouraged to return the birds. I refused. Given their state, I believe they would have died if they had been sent back. They required constant intervention just to stabilize. A partial "goodwill" refund was offered while I was actively managing a severe medical situation, then a full refund was made contingent on returning the birds, and ultimately any refund was revoked. To be clear: 1. Premium price charged for supposedly high-quality birds 2. Birds arrived visibly sick, emaciated, and passing blood 3. Biohazard risk introduced to a healthy flock 4. Condition minimized rather than addressed 5. Pressure to return animals in critical condition 6. Refund offered, then withdrawn This is not a minor issue or bad luck. This is a failure of basic animal welfare and responsible husbandry. I cannot recommend this farm under any circumstances.

It helped my stomach issues but screwed my health and my cholesterol up to a dangerously high level. So bad that i felt sick all the time I was on Keto for over 9 months. So i turned my diet around to be based on fresh veggies, fruits lean protein and whole grains with healthy fats and lower carb. This delivery program they have has helped make the change painless because of the exceptional quality and variety. Local grocers here where i live mostly sell crap! Their quality and prices are insane now and not worth what they are charging and a lot of their produce is imported from mexico and other countries a lot of the time which is a no no we live in the Ag hub of the country!
