Today, I went to return a pair, the very nice young lady called for a manager (store policy, I guess for every return) and then she started to process my return, at that point she realized my return was outside their 60 day return policy. She explained the policy and I was like, oh ok I wasn't aware. We started putting the shoe boxback in a bag and by then the manager showed up, she didn't say a word. The clerk explained about the time frame, the manager shook her head no. She didn't day 1 word to me. I was actually ok with the policy, my fault I wait 2+months before returning, but the way the manager trated me was unacceptable. She then followed me a my husband while we shopped for another pair of shoes, just standing at the end of the aisle for about 5 min and watching is before finally moving on. As someone who does customer service, I find her manager skills lacking. The young lady that originally helped me is the only reason I stayed to shop.

I bought one in the box because the models on the floor were all basically finger tight. One thing that I have an issue with all Academy Sports now is the way they have you enter a cattle chute style checkout line. I'm not a bovine and I don't particularly like being corralled. Took a pair of work boots for exchange on 12/4/25 that were less than 30 days from purchase and had…read morethe box and receipt. I explained the soles were not slip resistant as well as the boors were not water proof as marked, both were a requirement for my job. The young man at the counter insisted on arguing with me about the specifics of the waterproof rating of the boot. I simply asked if he would honor the store's return policy at which time an unidentified female employee(possibly manager) approached me and started yelling and screaming at me regarding the boots. She continued to argue with me about waterproof and non-slip ratings while I explained to her I have only worn them a few times and had almost slipped several times and my feet got soaked during a slight rain. I also explained I've had several different pairs of work boots from the store all which met the requirements I needed for my job unlike the boots I wanted to exchange. I was eventually helped by another female employee and was able to exchange the boots. While checking out, the first female attempted to apologize for yelling at me and during that conversation once again started yelling and talking over me and was extremely rude. I was thoroughly embarrassed and humiliated and do not think I was treated with respect nor as a loyal customer. I'm not sure the name of the female employee that helped me exchange my boots, but she is a great addition to That Boot Store, the other 2 employees are horrible and very rude

They looked like they had a great selection of boots to choose from and I thought this was a good choice to find what I needed. Stood around for about 15 - 20 min. (wasn't that busy in the store) before I got help from a girl wearing sweets, like it was casual day. She had little product knowledge and didn't seem to know how to help. Maybe they were short staffed and they threw her on the floor. I felt I could have done just as good if I went to Walmart and did it myself. After a while I just got frustrated and decided to come back another time. Hopefully the next time will be better.
