Avoid This Business - Sold Me a Used Product Key and Offered an Illegal Solution Instead of a…read moreRefund (Stopped responding) I went to BlueWire Cyber & Collectibles in Daleville Friday the 25th at about 5:30 and bought a physical copy of South Park: The Stick of Truth (PC edition) for $14.99. The packaging looked fine, and it even had a Steam product key inside. When I got home, I put the disc in my PC, and when running the launcher and agreeing to the terms of service, it launched Steam asking for the code. I put the code that came in the case into Steam but when I hit enter, it said the code had already been activated by another account and was invalid. Basically, they sold me a used or previously activated game. I reached out to the store immediately (about 45 minutes after I bought the game) with screenshots showing the error, my receipt, the game case, and proof that the key wouldn't work. Instead of offering any assistance, the owner suggested I use a key generator or code finder to "maybe" get a working code. Not only is that shady and illegal, but it's completely unacceptable coming from a business that claims to sell legitimate products. I explained multiple times that I didn't feel comfortable using an illegal workaround and that I bought the game in good faith, expecting a valid key. I told him I still had the physical disc and receipt, and just wanted either a working, valid copy or a refund. I also recorded a screen capture of all the steps but he either didn't understand that the game was used before and not able be used again or he didn't care cause he got his money. He replied once or twice with dismissive answers, then completely ignored me from Friday through Monday. I followed up again Monday afternoon and was told they were closed Sunday and Monday, even though I had messaged Friday and received no reply then either. Finally, they told me I could bring the game back by Wednesday for a trade, but I made it clear that I did not want to trade it for something else. I wanted a refund for a product they misrepresented and sold in unusable condition. They claimed they weren't scamming me because I could just use a key generator, but if you sell a product that doesn't work, tell the customer to go find an illegal fix, and then refuse a refund that's exactly what it is. I did everything right as a customer: I kept the receipt, reported the issue immediately, provided full evidence, and was polite and patient. In return, I got silence, deflection, and shady advice. After being ignored again Monday, I decided to just call Chase to report the charge and was credited the money back. I do not want to go back in and fight with this guy about it. Do not trust this place. They sell used keys, dodge responsibility, and when caught, offer sketchy fixes instead of just making it right. Spend your money somewhere that actually respects their customers. I should have known that something like this would happen. The experience inside the store was just plain uncomfortable. The couple running the place followed me around the entire time like they thought I was going to steal something. I couldn't browse in peace without one of them hovering nearby or constantly talking to me. It felt super awkward and invasive. I just wanted to look around without being watched and interrupted the whole time. It gave off a really weird vibe and made the entire visit even worse.
