Last year my wife and I moved from the east coast to the Coeur d'Alene, Idaho area. While searching on-line for houses, I found John Thurston, of Windermere Realty in Post Falls, ID. He was amazing to work with. I made arrangements with him to fly out to Coeur d'Alene and view several properties, including the house we eventually purchased. He was very knowledgeable of the area and the types of property that would be of interest to me. When we met with the owners, he was also quite professional.
After deciding on the house that my wife and I wanted to purchase, I flew back to the east coast and the entire purchasing process was carried out long distance. John provided tremendous assistance throughout, including helping to make arrangements for inspectors, tests, and construction personnel (we wanted to have the carpeting replaced with hardwood floors before we moved in), giving advice on things to worry about and who were reliable workmen in the area (we eventually had a beautiful stone fireplace installed by a company that John recommended), meeting inspectors and workers at the house, and even collecting water samples from the house (it has a well), having them analyzed, and reporting the results back to me. I called John frequently and he would answer the phone most of time, and if he didn't, he would almost always call back within 5 minutes and apologize for not answering when I called.
I cannot imagine how any real estate agent could do more than John did to make the entire home purchase process go as smoothly as possible, especially if you are moving from somewhere outside of the area. read more
