We are head over heels with our photos! Thank you Chao for a phenomenal job of photographing our wedding and ensuring everything went smoothly. Chao was professional, quick to reply, and understood right away what we wanted without having to give him too many instructions. As I was planning my own wedding from overseas, Chao provided suggestions about the details, the timeline and photo locations which we were so grateful for. He also met up with us to do a site check prior which I really appreciate and shows that he really cares about his clients and getting the best shots. And at the end of a grueling 11 hour shift, he was still smiling. A few days after the wedding, he sent over some sample shots (which we weren't expecting) and we are BLOWN AWAY at how beautiful they are. You can tell right away that he takes pride in his work and is so talented in capturing shots in the right moment that highlighted our personalities. I am so happy to have found Chao for our wedding and I would highly recommend him for any job! read more

Chao is amazing! Seriously, I couldn't wish for a better photographer. Chao follows the idea of a perfect picture - I mean he makes sure that the dress looks equally beautiful on both sides, takes time to improve the posing and surroundings. Even though our photosession took a bit longer, he never mentioned extra minutes. During the photosession he was gentle and patient (you imagine how nervous the bride gets on that day! :-)) Also Chao sends you a couple of samples on the second day after the wedding, so you can see how they come out. I even asked for an extra one, and he was kind to send it to me. The quality is perfect! I highly recommend working with Chao, this talent deserves attention, especially among all these overpriced photographers. read more

Chao was simply wonderful. His photos were breathtaking and captured my husband and I and all our loved ones so perfectly. Chao is so talented and creative and a true pleasure to work with. We would totally recommend him to anyone! We do not pose for pictures and wanted every photo on our wedding day to be natural and capture the real us.... he exceeded our expectations completely! Thank you Chao!!! read more

I hired Chao for my November 4, 2017, wedding and he was AMAZING. He captured some gorgeous pictures in the park after our first look with a beautiful tree. He has a great eye and captured great pictures. After my wedding he sent me some samples until he finishes editing the pictures. I thought that was nice of him to do. I cannot wait to see the finish product. My entire bridal party and family loved Chao. They raved that he was so polite and well organized when taking the pictures. I would recommend him to anyone. Thank you Chao for making my day perfect. read more

I'm soooo late in posting a review but our wedding was on 11/4/16 and there aren't enough words that can express how awesome Chao is! My entire bridal party loved him and even the guests were amazed at how he just blended in and managed to capture some great moments. He is very well-spoken, respectful and makes this whole photography on a wedding day easy and stress-free. He is quick to reply to any concerns you may have via email or phone. Thank you for the great pictures and memories of an eventful day! read more

Thank you, Chao for photographing our wedding! You were incredible, professional, very responsive prior to the event and took the most beautiful photos of my husband I that I will cherish for the rest of my life! I am so glad we booked with you! read more

Chao was an absolute pleasure to work with both before and during our wedding. After checking out a variety of other photographers, we found him on Weddingwire and couldn't be happier with how things turned out. During our preliminary correspondence, he was very patient and truly listened to our vision for the event. He was extremely professional, efficient, and flexible, executing our desired shot list and accommodating guests even when our initial timeline was altered. In addition to his professionalism and hard work, Chao is an amazing photographer who was able to perfectly capture even the most difficult shots we requested, including night pictures in the cold of winter. Throughout the evening, he did a great job of circulating around the room, taking beautiful shots in addition to the ones we had requested, while always being available whenever someone needed a photo to be taken. Also, Chao did an outstanding job of giving us direction to ensure we would look our best, while at the same time keeping the mood relaxed. Within a day of our wedding, he reached out to us and sent some sample pictures with the rest to follow shortly. This added a nice personal touch to his service, as it allowed my husband and I to get a glimpse of his skill and remind ourselves of all the fun and joy of the night before. We cannot recommend him highly enough and are so happy he was there to help us capture moments from our wedding which we will look back to forever. Thanks so much, Chao! read more

My husband and I booked Chao for our October 1st wedding in New Jersey and couldn't have asked for lovelier photos - we were so happy with the quality of the photos, Chao's overall professionalism, and his kind demeanor the entire time he worked with us (we booked him for our engagement photos as well and received glowing comments from everyone we knew). From the beginning, Chao was very down-to-earth, making sure to build a good rapport with us and explaining his contract fully so that we understood what we would be paying for; any questions we had after our in-person meeting were answered in an extremely polite and timely fashion - I never had to wait more than a day or two to hear back (which, from my experience, can be difficult to pull off for busy photographers!). I got the impression that Chao really understood the value in building good relationships with his clients, and we appreciated that a lot. As for the wedding itself, I was really impressed with Chao's timeliness and how he managed to blend in during the event. He did a great job of including the important shots that I had requested in a prior email, and in spite of our having to have the ceremony inside due to the potential for inclement weather, the shots of our indoor ceremony came out beautifully. Though overcast and misty, he was able to have all of us (husband and I, wedding party, and family) outside for photos and helped us get some of the shots we were expecting to miss due to weather. That really made our day. During the reception, I didn't even notice he was there - partly because we were SO busy, but also because he blended seamlessly into the background, which really alleviated my anxieties (I'm quite camera-shy). He captured a lot of great, candid moments during the night, and his relaxed communication style helped us feel at ease every step of the way. We never felt rushed or pushed around. After the wedding, we received preview shots four days after the wedding (a nice honeymoon surprise!) and we received all of our edited shots two months from the wedding day, which was extremely reasonable. All of the photos were stunning and brought back so many happy memories of our day; our friends, who were there to view them with us on New Years' Day, all had such positive things to say about the photos they saw as well, and we know we'll cherish them for years to come. Chao's talent for capturing special moments, both posed and candid, shines through in his photos, and working with someone so amicable and approachable was a breath of fresh air in an otherwise hectic time planning our wedding. I wholeheartedly recommend Chao to anybody looking for a painless wedding photography experience! read more

I hired Chao as my wedding photographer to shoot my engagement pics and later to shoot my wedding. As a nervous and very particular bride( or bridezilla) , I can be handful and Chao was just beyond patient. I gave him the sample shots that i want and shots that I do not like and he did a great job. He is very attentive, hardworking, patience and no one can beat his prices. I could not be happier about having him as my photographer. read more

Chao is awesome!! He is kind, patient, and thoughtful. We are SO happy that we used him for our wedding and engagement photos. We thought engagement photos were corny and a waste of money, but after meeting with Chao in person and talking to him via email and phone as the wedding approached, we decided to have a session. His amazingly affordable prices made it any easy decision. He ended up spending time and a half on our session and the photos were incredible. I was completely reassured that we'd made a great choice and that our wedding photos would be excellent. And they were! Chao did a great job catching a mix of candid moments, posed shots, and those funky-artistic shots as well. He was more than happy to do whatever we asked of him and didn't try to tack on extra costs for random crap the day of the wedding (not that we asked for random crap). Our photos came back to us so quickly that we were still on our honeymoon when they were ready and we didn't look at them till much later. We picked 60 for retouching--there were about 370 photos total for a 6.5 hour wedding--and got them all back on a disc about a week later. Picking which photos to retouch was tricky because each photo brought to mind such great meaning and memory, but at the same time it was easy knowing that they looked great even without being retouched. Photography, I think, is one of the MOST IMPORTANT parts of your wedding, because it's the one part you can literally keep forever, even after your brain turns to oatmeal. We felt so lucky to have found the perfect photographer to capture those great moments flawlessly and without costing more than 6% of the total cost of our wedding. Crazy-good prices, crazy-good outcome. One tip: be sure to make a list of things you definitely want pictures of and share it with him. I wish I had more pictures of the venue, flowers, and other small details, but I didn't think about it until afterwards and we were all more focused on pictures of our guests having a great time. read more

Got back my wedding reception pictures last night and I am in love with them! Chao did an amazing job capturing every special moment throughout the night. He was accommodating in our request to book him another hour the day of. He is very organized and got all the primary family pictures we requested. He stayed with us all night to get various shots all over the venue. He even arrived early at the venue to set up. I was so happy with the quality of my pictures I am pursuing him to do my albums, which is going to be hard since I love all 200+ pictures. Can't wait to book Chao again. Thank you for making a stressful day a little easy. read more

Chao was the photographer for our wedding in March, as well as for our engagement photos in the prior year, and he really went above and beyond in every possible way. Prior to the engagement photoshoot, which was in our neighborhood, Chao checked out the area and found so many gorgeous locations that we never would have noticed on our own. The photos turned out beautifully and we were thrilled to have them for our save the dates and our wedding website. In the year leading up to the wedding, Chao answered all of our questions promptly and thoroughly, and on the day of the wedding, he was incredibly patient and professional. He really captured all of the excitement and happiness of the day - and we were thrilled to receive a number of photos just a few days after the wedding, and the rest of the photos and the photo album all within the timeframes that were originally outlined. We are both so grateful that Chao was our photographer and really can't recommend him enough. read more

Chao is an absolute gentleman and was so helpful in photographing our elopement. He was very easy to get in touch with by email or phone and quick to respond. We didn't really know what we wanted at the start, but he gave us great advice and ideas on locations, and he scouted the venue (Central Park) ahead of time. He was a calm presence on the big day, and did what needed to be done to get the best shots, including moving people out of the way. We got back 100 edited photos less than three weeks after the ceremony, and we were delighted at the results. It is great to have the day documented for our family and friends, since we were the only ones present. We couldn't have asked for more from Chao. Great value, great service, great photos! read more

We booked Chao for our wedding on June 21st. He is absolutely fantastic and we are so glad we found him!!! We have a unique story, and had only 3 weeks to plan our Special Day. While under a very tight timeline before and the day of, you would never know we were crunched for time as the pictures came out unbelievably stunning! His prices are unbeatable for what you get, and he is one of the nicest people to work with. He always got back to me in a timely manner throughout the whole process. We already have plans to use him again in the future. :) Chao, we cannot thank you enough for making this part of our day seamless and perfect!! If you want pure talent, a personality that everyone can get along with (this goes a LONG way on your wedding day), with high-quality product, then HIRE CHAO!!! read more

We were not happy with our wedding photos. There were some basic wedding shots that he didn't take...None of me in my full length dress. None of the back of my dress. None of me and my mom. Very few photos of me and my husband kissing or doing anything other than posed standing next to each other. And of course we don't know what is missing until we get the photos back. I shouldn't have to tell a professional photographer the basic shots we assumed he would take!! We didn't even like any photos enough to print out and frame. I wish I had chosen someone else to capture the day. He was a very nice man but I would not recommend him for your wedding. read more

Really glad we asked Chao to capture our wedding. He was flexible with the hours and punctual. Was able to capture so many memorable moments from the wedding, as well as staging lots of great pictures. Photos came out very nicely. He also provided all the raw pictures, which, if scrolled continuously, create a mini movie of the wedding. Really nice guy and very professional, it was a pleasure dealing with him. read more

I don't even begin to know where to start, or how I could put to paper how much I want to sing Chao's praises! From our very first phone call to the last photo he took on our wedding day, Chao was personable, professional, engaged, interested in our vision, fun to be around, and a true pleasure to work with. Leading up to the wedding, he took the time to meticulously walk through our day-of schedule with us and help us get an idea of how we needed to plan on the big day. On our wedding day, he followed the schedule exactly (a big deal for me!), and was a great sport going all over - from the hotel to the photo spot to the venue - getting the best pictures! The sneak peak shots he sent us were OUT OF THIS WORLD and I can't wait to see the rest! My only regret is not taking engagement photos with him, since I know those would have been amazing too! If you're looking for a laid back, professional, fun to be around, creative photographer, I would absolutely recommend Chao as your guy! read more

My wife and I were undecided on whether we should have a photographer as we were receiving some crazy quotes. Having done some research my wife found Windcatcher Photography's portfolio online and was immediately taken with his work. Having then checked reviews, we decided to contact him. Not only was he extremely great value, he was extremely accommodating. He was a pleasure to deal with. So, we booked him for our special day. Which was a GREAT decision. His photography and manner is of the highest order. He is not a dominating personality, who barks out orders. He works with the couple to provide the shot required and always put our needs first. Chao is a wonderfully polite and charming man. As an aside, he said something to me about my wife and I that I will never forget. What was it? That stays between Chao and I, but suffice to say it was one of the most perceptive and nicest things anyone has said about us. I bring this up because he has a really keen eye and notices things that other may not, which meant some amazing and unexpected photos of real quality. One example: My father wasn't able to attend our wedding, as he is no longer with us. We honoured him with a boutonniere placed on a chair to the side of the ceremony. It wasn't obvious at all, but Chao had the foresight to recognise that this was for someone special and produced a beautiful and classy photo without prompting. I had forgotten to get a picture, and was delighted to see this in the images he sent over. Two weeks after the event, we received the full colour corrected set of images. Wow. Just Wow. He had captured the spirit and humour of our ceremony & the joy and energy of our reception perfectly. Every single photo was one to cherish. I would not hesitate to recommend Chao, in fact, I insist you give him a call for your wedding or event! You really will not be disappointed... read more

My husband and I are so happy that we had Chao as our photographer. He was wonderful. We had our engagement photo session last month and the photos came out great. I can't wait to see my wedding pictures. He was very patient the whole time. Our guest list expanded from 40 people to 108 and he handled the change very well. He was always around taking pictures and always taking his time to make sure the picture and background was good. Even when things were hectic, he was very patient and nice to the guests. He had a lot of wonderful suggestions on how to make the pictures better as well. Very fair with his pricing and very affordable. read more

Chao is AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING! Not only is he a truly talented and professional photographer, he is also NICE and a PLEASURE TO WORK WITH! I feel so incredibly blessed and lucky that we found him, and that we were able to share such a special day with such a special person. His photos are beautiful and we will be recommending him to everyone we know!!! Thank you, Chao, for being so amazing. read more

My husband and I recently got married in May and hired Chao as our photographer. Our wedding was small/intimate and fairly short. Before finding Windcatcher Photographer, I had inquired from other photographers about their services. Most were charging a ridiculous amount. I even had one photography service try to push a videographer and photo booth even though I clearly stated that I did not want either. Finding Windcatcer Photographer was like a breath of fresh air. Chao always responded to my emails in a prompt manner. On our wedding day, Chao showed up early, he was professional, and he captured almost every moment. He made my husband and I feel very comfortable in front of the camera and during the ceremony I barely noticed he was there (but he captured our ceremony from almost every different angle possible). He is very easy to work with and has a friendly demeanor. He even lowered the price of his services after our wedding ended earlier than we anticipated. He sent us a few 'sneak peaks' the day after our wedding and we received our entire wedding photos (both edited and raw) less than a month after the wedding. We are pleased with the photos. I would wholeheartedly suggest that anyone looking for a wedding photographer use Windcatcher Photography, you will not be disappointed. read more

Chao is a dream. He handled both our engagement and wedding photography, and everything he captured was absolutely beautiful - artistic and unique without being ridiculously staged or over-the-top. He also took time to scout out the surrounding areas, to ensure that the best possible locations were utilized. And he handles stressful situations wonderfully - the entire timeline of our wedding day was thrown off by the tardiness of other vendors, but he still managed to get so many beautiful pictures and capture so many magical moments in a condensed amount of time (and all without getting in the way of the wedding experience for us or our guests). He also adheres to deadlines that he sets for when photos will be given. Simply put, he's incredibly talented, wonderful to work with, incredibly nice and above all else, professional from start to finish. We cannot recommend his services enough - not just because you get such a great experience/result for such a great value, but also because he is a genuine talent and kind soul. read more
