Pop up tent frames up for aleast a week, just a grass spot not a campsite
    Jake S.

Friday till Friday did not want to stay 7 days, but wanted water front for kids so had it get it for minimal of 7 days. Only wanted 5 days. Not to happy about if you want water front you have to stay 7 or more. But I got 7 days pulled camper down to put in spot since that the rule to keep stop is to have camper on it. I drove down Friday waited in a long line to get into park , no ranger helping traffic, when I arrived in camper parking lot they was no spots all the campers was there no people in or around most the campers. Two slots had campers with people near by. I pulled in tight behind one and got out went to ranger station just me and 2 different folks there so unsure where the folks was to the other campers in the spots. Got my pass and then had to cut tight around all the unmanned campers and cars. So if you don't have experience with driving your camper you probably would of had to waited till unmanned campers were moved. Went to camp site cars parked everywhere, once again experience came in handy backing camper up in tight areas due to cars. Got it in set up and left, like I said I wanted 5 days, so left- so far I paid for 2 days I can't use and unmanned campers blocking spots at station and now cars parked everywhere making it hard to get in spot. I arrived Sunday. Traffic not has bad at ranger station got to site and then what I thought would be a fun and relaxing time at the state park I grew up in with my kids. The neighbors I had well was something else 5 kids 3 dogs and I tell you what after hearing the kids and dogs yelled at for 5 days morning day and night I know all their names both kids and dogs. I knew what tv shows they was watching in side their camper could hear it . Grrrr Now I had cabins to the other side not bad till Thursday night and new group came in. But back to that later. Back to Sunday my water spot was lined with 7 seadoos from campers across the road, don't mind sharing but leave me some water that I had to pay 2 extra days to get. I don't think they ran if so not very well they was always out their work on them from aleast Sunday till Tuesday- work, get it working, get loud, run the area then break down and get towed in by other seadoo. That many seadoos not working seems kinda odd to bring all camping. Guess they got tired of working on them and left. Once again don't mind sharing, but sharing is needed. The folks that moved in Thursday was very loud I could hear there music they had on in my camper after 10pm to be that to loud even before since they was in 2nd cabin from my camper. But maybe that just me. Now I understand Wild life running through camp and maybe a kid every now and then but dogs I thought they was a leash rule we had 2 small dogs and 2 large dogs run though my camp one came in while we was eating supper and hide under our table. Now I have 3 kids not afraid of dogs but I don't know if dogs are friendly or not so it put me on high alert. Now the bath house was not cleaned every day and when it was it was not in detail unlike what their signs said. The trash in floor was their for 3 days and windows and counters never cleaned. The bath house was in major repair has well of other parts of the park. Notice boat trailers in grass spots had grass high under them and just the frames of "pop up tents" in rows no tops just there with high grass and both frames and trailers there unmoved the whole time I was their. Talked to some of the campers and most I talked to have been there long time for example March (it's end of June now) and they don't plan on going home till end of July or August. One was planning on being their till November one said they been their since February and going to stay till mid July. So makes me wonder if the park has become a living place instead of camping space. I always knew of the the HILL (C area on top of hill lots of old folks) and camp host live there all year long but now folks (seem more common then not) are staying months at time and now they require a minimum of 7 days stay to get water front. Maybe the park is doing away with weekend family lake trips to long term folks. Did eat at the cream of the creek it was good but the hours don't match sign they close if it rains. So if you plan on not grilling due to rain remember you have to go out since the restaurant will be closed because of rain. In the 5 days there I seen a ranger truck 1 time so the patrol of rangers are slim. Lots of dogs, man the dogs I would say 2:1 ratio if I seen 2 people I seen a dog so some campers had no dogs some had a herd of them. So between dogs loose and or barking, parents screaming , boats motors roaring and not going anywhere and loud music and storms I never relaxed and worried about my kids. I will also say that my camp site didn't have a fire pit nor a grill so lucky I keep a small grill in camper to make a fire in for s'mores and cooking if these happens so come prepared.

This place obviously has the lake but also a mini golf and archery range.

If we are ever back in the area, we will stay again. We were on a motorcycle with a popup camper, so always call and check, when the website is a little gray on what kind of campers are allowed. The first season we stayed, it went pretty well but this was also while it was cold outdoors, rainy and we were running on our own propane supply. This summer, however, we ultimately decided to uproot and find another park. Now, I will say Gigi and Don are nice enough people and they do try to keep their park up. We don't have any complaints about the grounds itself. Or the patrons. However, it stands to reason that the upper part of park is going to require more power usage from patrons because it has no shade at all. Our RV is metal, not wood. Before it had even reached the 80s, we were already getting complaints about the amount of power we were using to keep our RV cool (with the AC set in the 80s). Even though we were paying every penny of the "extra" electricity. I eventually had the electrical system checked out, as they had suggested, and found that, as you'd expect, putting a metal RV in the baking Alabama sun is going to result in a hot metal RV. By the 2nd month, we were over it and decided to move parks. We're now in Wetumpka, right on the lake, rent is under $500 a month and we're not paying for electricity separately. Additionally, this campground and the groundskeep aren't causing us undue anxiety simply because we're trying to survive the summer. So, this is where we're going to be staying from now on when we're in the area. I suggest others consider looking just outside of Prattville for a better deal and more consideration.
