Camping in our Airstream along Parkerson Mill Creek at Auburn RV Park at Leisure Time.
    Sandy P.

We picked Auburn RV park for a one night stop-over on the way back to the ATL. We could've stayed a week! Our pull thru spot was on Parkerson Mill Creek and we had sounds of moving water alright (awesome!). The family that owns this RV park are very involved in it's management and the place is spotless! The bath house was always fresh and clean. Without a doubt, this is the only place we Camp in Auburn with our Airstream Argosy. Just off the Interstate I-85, exit 51, and is so convenient to Auburn, restaurants, Walmart and anything else you require.

    Semi-aerial shot near the entrance.

The best RV park in Auburn and one of the best our family has ever visited. What sets this place apart from the rest is the family atmosphere. The owners are simply outstanding. Thomas will go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and that you have everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. Secluded enough from the university activity yet conveniently located right off of 85. Plenty of premium sites that are easy in, easy out. Large parking lot right adjacent to the entrance of the park. We have a 35' travel trailer. No issues with the Premium sites. I really like the convenience of online scheduling. In addition, you get wifi, cable, trash, and full hookups (30 and 50). There is a small creek that makes its way through the park on the southern/southeastern portion. Several sites adjacent to this creek. Bathhouse is clean and accommodating. If it's football season, book early! Highly recommend to everyone!

    Beside the creek.

The pool and lazy river are outstanding. They have all sorts of games and crafts. Memorial Day weekend was stellar.

We had a great time visiting. Our spot overlooked the creek. The college bus route was just out front of entrance for game day.

FIRE ANTS !!!! Fire ant piles everywhere. Hooked up to their cable. Standard definition and poor reception.

We visited the visitor center/gift shop the first day, before it closed at 5. Rangers were friendly and helpful. We got a map for our hike the next day, and bought some provisions for our stay at a Florence Marina State Park cabin up the road. The next day we hiked down the steep, rocky terrain to the signs for all the trails. We chose Canyons 4-5, which were flat, and less wet & less difficult to hike than Canyons 1-3, and other trails. The views were spectacular! We noticed the puddles of water & wondered why some were silvery and bright. When we asked the ranger in the visitor center/gift shop, she didn't know. The hike back up to the visitor center/gift shop required several stops at Boy Scout donated benches. Thank you, Boy Scouts! My asthmatic lungs needed the respites. At the visitor center, we used the boot cleaning mats and hose to wash off the red clay of Ga. On the way out of the park, we stopped at the restrooms on the right of the road. This is where we got the BEST photos! Stop, get out and walk to the fences. You will be thrilled with the view. We were. This is our now favorite park in GA.

I wish we had more time here to explore all of the canyons! It was so unusual and fun to walk…read morethrough! There is loads of shade in the interior of the canyon and water does trickle through so expect to get a smidge wet and dusty from the canyon. The shop was loaded with great merch but the bathroom was out of service for us so everyone had to use the single toilet handicapped room which wasn't exactly great. The parking fee and map etc can be a little confusing so just be sure to go inside to make sure everything is on the up and up. The rim trail runs immediately around the visitor center just follow the fencing to the left to stay around the rim go to the right to go down into the canyon itself. Both are worth it. We spent more time in the canyon :)

We asked them about parking (no fee) and were returning there for lunch later anyway. We then hiked up Rt 190 about 50 yards and found the trail crossing. We opted to do the one on the left - I think it was Bentley? The one on the right was the Pine Mountain trail. The trail was a nice hike through the woods but never more than 200 yards from a main road. We followed it to a junction and turned right so as to begin the loop back. Since it had taken longer than planned already, we hiked back along Route 190 instead of another trail. In total, it was about 2.1 miles and took us from 10:45 a.m. to 12:05 p.m.! The trail was hilly with a lot of rocks so the pace was slow. I enjoyed the hike, though.

FDR State Park near Warm Springs, Georgia…read more Very nice state park with lots of nearby attractions to visit including Calloway Gardens and FDR's Little Whitehouse. The small town of Warm Springs had several little shops that were nice to walk through, even found some unique Christmas gifts. The highlight of downtown Warm Springs was the Bullock House Restaurant for their country cooking lunch buffet, a great bargain at $12.50 for the good food they serve. The park has several campsite areas, I believe were numbered as Campgrounds 1 through 5. The check-in building in a large CCC flagstone structure with a nice camp shop, but don't miss the scenic overlook out behind the building. Most rv camp sites we rode by were very wooded with good shade and seemed to be level. Each area has its own bathhouse. The one in our area was clean and offered two family restroom/shower room combinations in addition to the standard women's' and men's sides. Campsites in Campground 1 with numbers starting in the 100's are on or near a small lake. They did have some paddle boats but I didn't see any being rented so they could have been discontinued for the Winter. We did see several people fishing from the lakeshore. A Georgia license is required for fishing and the camp shop had a "Bait for Sale" sign. The CCC built Liberty Bell flagstone pool was also drained and closed for the season. A handful of the sites in Campground 1 are directly in the lake and some of those have full hookups. We were lucky to be in one of those lakefront full hookup sites. The park has several hiking trails but bikes are not allowed on them. It is a short drive to Dowdell's Knob, an overlook that FDR used to enjoy visiting and picnicing at when he was in the area. The foliage was still colorful but past its peak when we visited in mid-November. We enjoyed our stay in one of the best campsites we have had in a state park this year.
