Excellent classes and services- helpful teachers, and great times for being open…read more There have been new classes opening up, and through my time being with them and doing their classes, they've provided excellent customer service and a great atmosphere for multiple events- such as for doing tabletop board games, painting miniature pieces for the boardgames or for art, workshop for building items used in Live Action RolePlay events, and soon they're planning on taking extra days to take classmates on "field trips" to various gaming and social areas for swordfighting and performing stage acts and games for both adults and kids alike. I do wish there were more people going to these classes, however, as having minimal people doesn't exactly put out all the fun and excitement that could be had- the more there can be with us, the more events that can be done, and even more field trips that can be attained! I go here often, and I try to recommend it to anyone who's in acting, likes tabletop gaming, or is looking for something new to do rather than sit at home on friday nights or saturday nights, or any other weekday night available.

I felt well prepared for my job…read more Although some times were frustrating for my peers and I, it did begin to prepare for the real world of nursing and medical where you have to stand up and advocate for yourself and others, try to make positive changes, and speak up when there are deficits or needs. I am currently prusing my RN, and CCI did prepare me very well ethically and academically compared to my peers. I felt very prepared by my various instructors throughout the program. The program was tough, but medical is even tougher, but so worth it. After graduating, I was able to make enough to support myself and start my family, which was my goal when starting the program. The reason I knocked off a star was that I received phone calls from ECMC Capella loans stating I was behind on my payments and owed them fees. However my loans were not financed through them (I used my previous loan provider, as I already had existing federal loans) and after some back and forth, CCI did release my personal information to this organization without my consent years after I graduated

I originally completed my LVN program at Career Care Institute and graduated at the top of my class. Years later, during a very difficult period in my life, I decided to return to school and continue advancing my education. Because I had previously done well at CCI and had also completed nearly an entire RN program elsewhere, I returned to CCI hoping to transition into their RN program. Unfortunately, my experience the second time around was very different. One of the most disappointing moments was hearing a nursing leader speak negatively about admitting LVNs into the program. As an LVN who had already successfully completed this school's own nursing program, it was incredibly belittling to hear LVNs discussed as though our education and experience somehow made us less capable of becoming RNs. I was given the opportunity to test into the program through expensive challenge exams. After passing one exam, I paid another $500 for the next. That exam was disproportionately concentrated on HIV and HIV pharmacology, and I did not achieve the required score. The testing system then allowed me to reopen the exam without showing me the correct answers. I changed some answers to see whether my alternate choices would have resulted in a passing score, and they did. Instead of asking me what happened, I was accused of cheating and efforts were made to prevent me from entering the program. That experience stayed with me. I felt that assumptions were made about my character and abilities without anyone first trying to understand my intent. I also felt that my status as an LVN was viewed negatively rather than as the nursing foundation that it was. Ironically, I am now grateful that things happened the way they did. Being turned away pushed me toward another nursing program, where I met instructors who encouraged growth rather than gatekeeping. I learned about concepts such as ethnocentrism and even heard nursing instructors openly discuss the culture of "nurses eating their young" and why our profession needs to move away from it. Those experiences helped shape the kind of nurse I want to be. And today, I finished my BSN. So my criticism of Career Care Institute is not coming from someone who could not succeed in nursing school. I succeeded there before, I succeeded after leaving there, and I continued advancing my education. My criticism is about how students are treated along the way. Nursing education should challenge students academically without belittling them, stereotyping them, or making assumptions about their character. Educators have tremendous influence over future nurses, and with that authority should come fairness, self-awareness, and a willingness to ask questions before passing judgment. I hope the school reflects on that, because sometimes the student you underestimate is simply going to take another road to get exactly where they were trying to go.

I came here because this is one of the testing sites I signed up to take at. Immediately upon…read morearrival, I wanted to go inside to use the restrooms before my scheduled test time (9am). The doors were locked. It was probably around 8:25AM, so I waited with others. The thing is, the instructions for this exam include coming early (at least 20 minutes early) because the test starts exactly at 9. I chatted with the test proctor (who has been there since 8am) and she expressed that she's been calling the office and waiting for someone to open the doors. Long story short, we waited outside until 9:10AM for someone to show up! This lady comes in, looking bored and disheveled, and I overhear her tell the proctor she thought someone else was coming in to unlock the doors for her. She didn't seem sorry and took her time. She opened the doors and during the setup of our tests, it was a long process because of laptop issues (some laptops were requiring passwords to unlock and she had no idea how to fix connection issues for a couple laptops) and material prepping. Our test ended up starting late past 9:35AM, and I definitely wish this spot was better organized in terms of communication. I'm super glad my other test wasn't scheduled later that day like others did because the proctor expressed that those exam times would be delayed now. It was also hot inside the room but thankfully AC was later turned on about 30 minutes into our exam. Nontheless, my experience here wasn't an impressive one.

I have called numerous times to inquire about the 3rd check and every time I call, the person who can help me is always on a break or at lunch, so they take down my message and tell me someone will call me back. I've never received a call back. Due to taking care of a sick family member and working, I haven't been able to physically go in. But I also shouldn't have to physically go in for this inquiry. The school treats their students like they are children. They scold you about being professional in your externship when you're still months away from it and have given zero information on externship. Their whole "we're here to support you" spiel is crap. I attended the school for almost 5 months and within that timeframe, they fired 5 staff members and 2 quit or transferred. Save yourself the time and money and go to AVC.

I was offered three options for classes and I chose the evening class .When I came to school on the first day I met two wonderful teachers -Jannie and Jushana. Teachers are patients, calm, professional and encourages the students, giving us confidence to be able to do blood draws. They have with a wealth of knowledge and experiences, enabling to share personal experiences and techniques. Class sizes small (6-7 people) and the material is easy to read and understand and can focus more on reach of the student. Book was writing "simply language".
