The best-reviewed offices do not take new patients, and the ones who do have very polarized reviews. And Yelp Reviews are often out of date for new dentists (in old offices). So I am thrilled to find this office in Medford (easy, free garage parking). It's worth driving 15 min. The office staff (Beth) was terrific - quick, efficient, courteous, helpful - I found an appointment to do a filling to fix chips within the week. She helped to check insurance. She reminded me to transfer X-rays. And on the day of the appointment, Dr. Qu was great. He is honest, direct, efficient, and does not "up-sell" anything. His work is very meticulous and he has "steady hands" if you know what I mean when it comes to dentistry. The filling (on the front teeth) are better than any I've had in this area. The billing was immediate, clear, and I decided to switch to this office after the first visit, even though it takes 15 min longer to get to. In case you are interested, the way to properly pronounce Dr. Qu (the office just call him Dr. Q to spare people the trouble) is a combination of the CH in "Cheese" and REE in "Tree" - Ch-Ree. However, if you just say "Dr. Tree", you are already about 80% close to the original pronunciation - not bad at all! And for anyone who might wonder but are embarassed to ask, Dr. Qu speaks perfect/native English. So don't let that hold you up.

On top of this, I was harassed and threatened regarding surprise out-of-pocket fees--including unexplained charges exceeding $100--that were never submitted to my insurance first. Being that they just opened an year ago they're really quite nice on the amenities compared to your run of the mill dental offices. I was pretty surprised by the drink fridge in the waiting room but was more pleasantly surprised on how friendly Karima the front staff was when I first arrived! I had registered online beforehand and filled out the patient information online so the wait and paperwork was very minimal when I arrived. I probably only waited about 10 minutes before Dr. Bains and her assistant saw me. The equipment they have are pretty much in new condition and like others have mentioned the speaker glasses that they let you wear is pretty cool gadget, definitely helps take the mind off when they're working on your teeth. Echoing another reviewer's comment I very appreciate their upfrontness regarding prices and their recommended treatment plans. They would show me a break down of each of the out of pocket expenses and didn't really push me if I feel uncomfortable. That's something very different compare to some of the older traditional dentist office I've been to in my previous visits.
