Integrity matters especially when dealing with online purchases & I found Wilson Bros lacking. I needed to purchase a large volume of groundcover for erosion problems so did my research, settled on WB after seeing mixed reviews on many online nurseries. Placed order for nearly $900, that's a lot for me! Received initial order w zero notification, the box sat outside overnight & was in bad shape, had been shipped to an incorrect address; plants looked bad, root bound badly. Sent email as instructed immediately to WB w photos-no response, called; it's the wknd, no one is in the office! When finally making contact 3 days later I asked for help from extremely rude customer service person & was told someone would be in touch! Shocked! Eventually told to plant the plants, they were fine, hardy, let them know if I needed anything more! I wanted a refund!! So. This attitude of no integrity permeates the organization, you make a purchase & are on your on regardless of the condition of the plants so stay away. read more

I purchased a Korean fir tree in a three gallon pot. I received the tree quickly, it looked healthy, and it was a decent size. That was the end of the positive experiences. The tree I received was terribly crooked. It wasn't crooked in just one direction, such as just leaning back. It had curves in the trunk as if it had grown for a while in one position where it had to grow at an angle for sun, and then moved to where it had to grow in a different direction for sun. A pine should have a straight trunk and not resemble a snake. I could also tell the tree had been fastened to a stake for most of the time it had been growing because the upper portion of the tree had no branches on one side. I would have never considered purchasing such a terrible specimen if shopping in a nursery. This tree would likely be sold at a bargain price or thrown out altogether since it may never have been purchased if someone actually saw it in person. Against my better judgement, I planted the tree. It was a Sunday and I needed to get it done before Monday and my schedule got hectic. The more I looked the tree, the more I doubted it would ever look decent. I emailed the company and provided a photograph clearly showing the trunk. I received a quick reply saying it couldn't be returned because it had been planted. The email included different ways to try and improve the tree. I don't want to spend years using multiple stakes trying to straighten out the trunk and hoping it fills in where there are bare spots. I have too little faith this tree will ever look decent and it is going in the trash. Don't risk buying a tree from Wilson Bros Gardens since they obviously have no quality control beyond the tree is alive. They should know people are going to want a decent looking pine tree and not one with a trunk as wavy as a snake and bare spots. read more

Wilson Bros. Gardens not only had a difficult to find Clematis I was looking for, it was a beautiful and healthy specimen when it arrived. Speaking of which...they boxed and shipped it soon after I ordered...within days. It arrived in excellent and protective packaging. It came with a very high quality mini trellis which I will use elsewhere if I can free it from the vine, or leave it if not. Very professional company and I am VERY happy with my purchase. I wanted to love this company so badly! The story of the owners on their web page warmed my heart, especially since they are from my local area, I loved the idea of supporting a locally founded business! The selection of plants and trees on the site was great. Well that's where the greatness stops. Unfortunately I had to wait over 6 weeks to finally receive $200 tree from my order. I had to constantly check tracking info and reach out to communicate with the company. I got bounced around, no one was helpful, they refused to ship another tree via UPS, and offered me absolutely nothing for all the trouble. Terrible experience. I do not recommend this company for your gardening needs. ETA since the company has chosen to come on here and be dishonest: I was NOT promptly sent a replacement. A replacement wasn't sent out for a full week AFTER receiving their own damaged tree back. I'm a long time UPS worker and UPS was experiencing NO delays in shipping. We staff up and work longer hours to ensure we provide the same standard of service our customers are used to year round. Shame on this company for not being honest. read more

BUYER BEWARE ! ! ! In good faith, I purchased and received a Wilson Brothers yew in April. It looked OK, a bit oddly shaped, but time could correct that. In mid-August, the lower branches started turning brown and I assumed this was just transplant shock. By the beginning of September, I sent a photo of the Wilson Brothers yew now yellowing and surrounded by 5 thriving, Nana yews purchased online from a different nursery. All yews were in identical conditions regarding water, light, soil, etc. The staff Horticulturalist, Justin responded in a couple days with suggestions mostly regarding watering and mulch, even though mulch was evident in my photos and more branches were starting to turn yellow. Justin then suggested I put a white paper around the Yew, and shake it to see if there were any bugs evident. Sure enough a few critters fell on to the paper. Justin then e-mailed a plan for me to follow every few days to make the Yew HAPPY. Even after he saw the photo of the critters and the Happy yews surrounding the Wilson Brothers yew , Justin believed watering was an issue. The next morning again I took a photo of the yew now with the top branches yellowing. Covering this yew in white plastic to protect the other yews, I pulled out Justin's yew. More critters were crawling. I wanted a refund, I lost an entire growing season. Apparently, this yew was sent with larvae which then hatched and spread through the plant over the summer .This is the WILSON BROTHERS' response: "Because this was reported outside the 72-hour healthy-on-arrival window, I can't do a full refund under that policy. That said, you're well within our Extended Guarantee (up to 6 months), and I can take care of you. 50% store credit for the price paid (use anytime toward a replacement or anything else) As stated on the Guarantee Policy page on our website, since you notified us after 72 hours but before 6 months had passed, we can cover this loss under our Extended Guarantee. This allows me to provide you with a store credit in the amount of 50% of the price paid for the plant. You can use this credit towards the purchase of a replacement plant " My response to WILSON BROTHERS: "I wouldn't risk ordering the same plant from Wilson Brothers. The concern was shared promptly when it became obvious. It was not obvious until August NOT upon delivery and was shared in September as I tried remedial measures in August but the golden yew kept declining!" THIS IS NONSENSE aka BS ! I ordered three trees from this nursery, two came in bad shape. Within a week, the coast redwood I ordered from them wilted so I dug it back up from the ground and tried to rehabilitate it. The second tree was a lucky find that had a lot of brown foliage on it. I cut the brown foliage and planted the tree anyway, and so far, it looks ok. All in all terrible quality plants and overpriced. Worse yet was the total lack of support for the so called plant guarantee. They came up with all kinds of technical reasons why I didn't quality for any refund, even a 50% store credit which I was willing to compromise for. The guy replying on the email was snarky and rude, clearly had ZERO intent to provide any guarantee. Stay away from this nursery. read more

Avoid this place!!! I used to love this place, but sadly, they have gone downhill. I just spent $2600 spring '25 (I saved for an entire year for this garden expansion) and the customer service has been less than desirable. I had 2 plants arrive ($35/ea) which had died off in transit and have not come back yet after 70 degree weather and being cared for meticulously. they just keep giving me the run around about waiting and they will be fine. the horticulture specialist, Gabie, quite literally gave out 'advice' that was AI generative text (as if you couldnt question it as fact) instead of having a working knowledge and skill base. I have been doing gardening/farm work my whole life (50 yrs) and it is beyond ridiculous having a 20 yr old something talking down to you because she did some research on what AI said. The world is in a sad state of affairs if our generational knowledge is being replaced, dismissed and forgotten as people become reliant on machines rather than getting their hands in the dirt, doing the work, learning for themselves, and listening to what their elders have to teach them. I would recommend finding another place. update... And it gets worse! While they did refund me for the 2 dead plants, it took 3 weeks and 3 requests. Meanwhile, I was still receiving some of my remaining ordered plants. The last arrival, I received 1 of the 3 plants. I had to reach out asking about this. They replied 'apologizing' for the late notice, but they were only able to ship 1/3 due to quality issues. They did not notify me and they charged me for all 3! Unbelievable! I never would have ordered only 1 to begin with and i have to scramble figuring buy what to do with an empty bed now. In addition, one plant i ordered was an eclipse hydrangea (3g and $100). It arrived the same day i drove 45 min to a nursery and picked up another (3g and $68). Had I read the reviews I would never have done business with this company. You shouldn't either! I ordered a $245 Redbud that arrived, dead no leaves, no root ball as all the soil had fallen out due to poor packaging. They were notified the day after receipt and they were emailed pictures. They replied stating it was obvious they had packaged the plant poorly and would either ship another tree or provide a credit. The next day they refused to do either. I encourage all prospective customers to understand what the reviews are saying. It's pretty plain that a few plants arrive as advertised. Unfortunately, when they don't the warranty is ignored, the customer service is nonexistent and you're out the money you paid. If you are still tempted to buy from these folks, try calling the customer service number before you throw away your money. I have tried dozens of times, and no one ever answers. They won't talk to you after they've gotten your money any faster than before. If you've already been a victim, call your state attorney general's office of consumer affairs. read more

She's got no clue why I din't get a 1 gallon pot -- 'we don't sell 2.5 quart pots' She requested pictures, and I complied. I requested confirmation -- got nothing! Spencer (the manager) doesn't talk on the phone -- ever. But his email explains that, indeed, one gallon is not one gallon. Go figure. "Please note that the "gallon" in a nursery pot size does not refer to liquid volume but to potting soil volume. For example, a 1 gallon nursery pot cannot be compared to a 1 gallon milk jug, nor a 5 gallon nursery pot compared to a 5 gallon construction bucket. No "1 gallon" nursery pot will hold a gallon of water. For example, depending on the manufacturer, a 1 gallon size nursery pot will hold from 2.26 to 3.73 quarts or 2.49 to 4.11 liters. I purchased a Honey Suckle from you on 4/1/2024, Order number: AB-18175. It was delivered on 4/5/2024 and was planted with Miracle-Gro garden soil with approximately 10% peat moss mix following your planting instructions, on 4/7/2024. When I received the plant, it had spots of black on the leaves. I assumed it was loose dirt from shipping, but, it didn't wash off when I watered it for the first, second, etc. time. Pictures of diseased plant below. I purchased a $100 diseased plant that was 75% dead after a few weeks, and Wilson Brothers told me to try copper fungicide, which hasn't worked. I now have a very dead Honey Suckle. Wilson Brothers DON'T honor their product. They shipped me a diseased plant and DID NOTHING ABOUT IT OTHER THAN PUT THE BURDEN ON ME TO TRY AND FIX IT!!! I ordered 6 Savannah Ruby grass plants from Wilson Brothers. I did not anticipate any issues, but felt their promise to replace any plant not looking good within 48 hours showed they were trustworthy. The plants took longer than stated, but did finally arrive. They were well packed, very secure. The containers were wrapped in heavy plastic and watered very well, too much in my opinion. We unpacked the plants a few hours later when I arrived home from work. We put them out on our deck under the pergola. About 36 hours later, I noticed one plant looked very bad, one other plant had a 50/50 chance of survival. I took photos and emailed them. I was assured they would look at the case right away and get back with me. They contacted me the next day saying they felt the plants would make it. I had only requested 1 plant be replaced. Next I received an email asking me to do a review and if there was any issues to let them know. Which I did, telling them I had emailed photos. They didn't want to check into it any further noting that it was under review. On day 7 I recieved an email saying that they wanted current photos of the plants. A few hours later, I received another email stating that the request was denied and they did not feel like the plants needed to be replaced. I can see where this is going quickly. Having owned a florist for 15 years, I can assure them these are not plants that should look like this on day 7. They over watered the plants and sealed them in the heavy plastic before shipping. This is what can happen. I'm not going to attempt any replacement or contact them again. It is not worth my time and trouble. By seeing other reviews, I can tell how it is going to end. I'm just hoping to save someone else the same problem I had and throwing money away. Of course, they have lost my future business, which is worth far more than replacing 1 plant. read more

Think of how it feels to receive dead and dying plants. Think of how it feels to spend $250, and all but one of the plants are yellowed, dropping leaves, repotted and not grown in the pot it was shipped in. The first was supposed to be a 3 gal, but could easily been taken from a 1 gal to ship. Thats how it looked to me. A $60 plant. Think how it feels to reach out to them in a kind way because the first plant that arrived had no dirt in the box but the rootball was have the size of the container. I was offer a $30 store credit, or equal amount to be refunded. How about equal the price I paid. Hindsight- How surprised to see the stark difference in what is depicted on the website and what I received. Now, my entire order arrived, all separately except the first box. They're all pathetic. The good thing about this experience is, I lived and I learned. Never another cent of my hard earned money will support Wilson Bros Garden. I am shocked how the email response was written verbatim to the wet and smeared instruction sheet included unprotected in the box. It's not my first time to garden, but it was the first time to purchase from Wilson Bros. And, the last. No guaranty to refund, only half after sending photos. Burned by this experience. Please look for live insects in your plants too, should you decide to place an order after my review with photos. Stop deceiving customers and your lame semantics. I had reservation with your dying bushes on the day it arrived and took pictures. You insisted on telling me to plant it giving me false promise of a "guaranty". When you say plant it, do you just mean leave it and let it die in your black plastic container? Since becoming a Wilson Bros customer in Feb 2020, I've made 10 orders of multiple plants each totaling approx $800. I have been a satisfied customer until my latest order. Wilson Bros has a "Healthy Plants Guarantee" that states: "Healthy Plants Guaranteed - When you place an order with Wilson Bros Gardens, we guarantee that you will receive healthy, container-grown, landscape-ready plants of retail nursery quality". As you'll see from the posted pictures, I received two center piece viburnums that did not live up to this Guarantee. One arrived with exposed roots, and was completely unanchored to its container. I can live with that as a matter of poor packing for the shipping it underwent. The other was shipped as a diseased plant. Probably a fungus. I have done everything possible to make Wilson Bros aware of my surprise and displeasure with this situation. Their response has been totally unsatisfactory. Regarding the diseased plant, their customer service rep told me that the leaves would soon be falling off and would be replaced by healthy ones. What a ridiculous assertion. First of all, anyone who knows plants can recognize a diseased plant - especially one with a plant fungus. Second, no one would buy such a plant from a reputable nursery. Third, such a plant is NOT 'landscape ready'. If you are thinking of buying plants sight unseen from an expensive mail-order company like Wilson Bros, think again. I purchased a tree that was supposed to only get 15 ft wide and the tag on the tree they sent me said that it gets 40 ft wide. They sent me the wrong tree! I wanted them to correct the problem and they were going to charge me a restocking fee. Justin informed me they usually remove the tags from the tree. That's kinda shady, pun intended.. After many emails and phone calls and days of no return calls and replies I filed a case with paypal who was able to get a full refund but we would have to pay return shipping. Ordered a tree from this company for a memorial garden I was planting. By the time I made it to the tree, less than a month after it had arrived, the tree was in o horrible condition. I reach out to the company to see if they could help me make it better before the memorial service, and was told it was all my fault and the company took absolutely no responsibility for the problem or helping find a solution. During this period of time I also ordered two maples from another company. Not only were they half the price, they were twice the size, and looked MUCH healthier. Gardens, and I wanted to put this FIVE STAR REVIEW up for the following reasons: 1. It seems there's a campaign by competitors to bring down their ratings - a lot of dicey, fact-free "bad reviews" that have been immediately disproven by Wilson Bros reps. These guys deserve a five star rating, and I'm going to help them get there! 2. I've bought plants from them (Aromi Azalea, Drooping Fetterbush, Drift Roses, Red-Tipped Photinia, Osmanthus Tree, and six Dappled Willows) and I am using their website to create wish lists of all the plants I'm going to be ordering from them this Spring! All of the plants that I bought from Wilson Bros. arrived in shipping containers that were built like a freakin' TANK. Even the boxes that were standing upside down (delivery people FAIL) didn't lose a smidgeon of dirt thanks to the amazing way Wilson Bros packs and ships their plants. There are even damp paper towels on top of the dirt to keep the moisture in - they thought of *everything*. Every single plant that I unpacked looked like it just came from a showroom - the leaves were shiny and in perfect condition. The Drift Roses even had beautiful blooms on them! THIS is what Wilson Bros offers.... the plants arrive in great shape. Once you plant things, the particular light and water and soil and weather of your location might work better or less well for different plants - when you are dealing with living things, it's not like buying a television. There are a million factors that affect the plant after you take it out of the box. There are also buyers that don't bother to read the complete description of the plant (ie: muhly grass does not have pink blooms on it all year round... duh!) so they leave crappy reviews which highlight their own lack of research and knowledge. Even during times when I was not actively buying something from them, the customer service reps at Wilson Bros have been absolutely friendly and helpful, willing to offer advice and to help whenever possible. I have been considering some evergreens for my front garden, and they were kind enough to send me photos of the stock they have so that I could get a peek at what size they were. Not only that, but Wilson Bros website will tell you if they have things in stock or not - BIG PLUS - lots of gardening sites will allow you to order and pay, and THEN tell you they don't have any in stock. Not Wilson Bros! Nope - if they don't have it, they let you know up front... and then they offer you a chance to put your email address in so that they can notify you when the plant you're hankering for is back in stock! You literally couldn't ask for more. So thank you, Wilson Bros, not only for providing me with gorgeous specimens for my gardens, but also for adding the "wish list" feature to your website so that I can spend the cold winter months dreaming about all the gardening I'm going to do with your plants come Spring! read more

Avoid doing purchasing from this business! I purchased an expensive tree (eucalyptus). It arrived shriveled up and dead/dying. I contacted Wilson with a photo within ten minutes of receiving the item. They said to try To revive it and send them photos in a few weeks for a $15 gift card. What BS! Their guarantee policy says if a plant is put in the ground it is NOT eligible for reimbursement. I am furious with Wilson and angry that I fell for their marketing emails. Never again! read more

I ordered 2 Queen Swan Gardenia's,which is a variety of Gardenia that is extremely cold hardy for 6b growing zone,but could probably handle 6a.I was extremely impressed by how well they shipped and pack,the time they had taken to arrive and how healthy and vibrant the plants were.I would give them 1000 stars if I could!!
