Absolutely fantastic shop…read more This is a mom and pop business that you can trust 100%. When I moved to the area, another shop in town quoted me at $2400 for front and rear suspension. Not every shop is that honest. Last Sunday I had a loud scraping noise coming from one of my rear brakes. I thought maybe I could save myself the hassle of having my car in the shop during the work week so I went to a national chain shop on that Sunday and was told it would be around $950 -- seized caliper, rotor, pads-- I held off and took it to Auto Medix. They said the caliper was not seized, it was fine. Auto Medix replaced one rotor and the back brake pads, all said and done they were $610 cheaper than the chain store.

Steve was not pushy but I was! we worked out a great deal, he suggested I take it home/test drive it for a couple hours. Again, NO PUSHY SALE just good old fashioned friendly chatter on both sides. On the test drive I noticed a few small irritating noises, I had quite a bit of experience with 4 other Dodge caravans and had a pretty good idea of the source. Our shop is grateful that such a shop exists so close to our own to help cut the wait time for the customer. Ernie and his staff would not hesitate to turn to Pfieffer for our own vehicles should the need arise. Pfeiffer Transmission does not deserve the bad review that was posted over two years ago. SDR has helped me with a number of weird situations with my 20 year old Chevy Caprice…read more They always crack the code and do it at a reasonable price. The most recent was that my former mechanic had botched up my lugnuts when I bought new tires through him a couple of years ago, and I only realized it now when a tire went flat. Thank goodness it happened in my driveway because if I'd been on the side of the road with this flat I would have been screwed. Basically the old mechanic over-torqued the lug nuts and then even used some wrong ones in the mix that my tire wrench never would have been able to take off. Not only did Steve at SDR get them off and replace with all correct lugnuts (as well as tighten them according to proper torque settings), he tracked down why my tire was leaking to begin with (corroded rim) and fixed that so I wouldn't needlessly buy a new tire just to have the same issue. He even re-balanced them and before any of this could happen, he sent a guy to my driveway to fill my tire so I could get it to him without paying for a tow. He not only accomplished what I asked of him for the immediate fix, but he went above and beyond to get to the root of the issue so I wouldn't have ongoing problems. SDR deserves all the business!

I knew something was wrong, but not being an auto tech, I only had a guess. I interacted with Nic and Jason. They took all the info I gave them. Nic let me drive myself home in my car, while he listened and did a pre-diagnostic. Once home, an hour or so later, Jason called me and told me exactly the problems with my exhaust- namely the muffler, intermediate pipe, and hardware- and gave me a quote that was well within the price range for such work for our area. I okayed the work. A few hours later, Jason came to pick me up to pay my tab. MY CAR WAS SO QUIET! Jason and Nic were fabulous with me, courtesy all the way, felt like a visiting monarch. Should I not have decided to be driven home, I would have been accommodated in SDR's confines, with free coffee and water. The cars displayed are interesting, to say the least.

This is a very busy shop (a good sign). My car failed emissions, and R&R was a "Recognized Repair…read moreFacility." I took the car in (after getting an appointment). That afternoon, they called. The entire problem was caused by a "loose wire." Now, here is the most important factor in rating an auto repair facility -- are they honest? Who would know if they recommended repairs that were unnecessary? After all, they knew (and I knew) that I needed the problem fixed else it would not pass the test, and I could not register the vehicle. They charged me for diagnositics and ... nothing else. The problem was merely a loose wire to the ignition coil (one of several). Sure, it was an easy fix. But I walked out knowing that this was/is an honest shop. I was surprised to see the reviews, and then noticed that, every two or three years, they have an unhappy customer. It is much easier to write a negative review than a positive one, after all, we expect the service to be good. But I can tell you this. ... When you find an honest mechanic ... you keep him! R
