Do not trust them. We wanted to re pitch our props. Certainly no emergency. Called Monday morning. We had a big outing with friends planned for the following weekend. We asked REPEATEDLY! Are you SURE we can have these props back by Friday, because we REALLY need our boat next weekend. If you're not positive that you can, we will put the diver off a week to pull them off because the following weekend doesn't matter to us. You can keep them 2 weeks if you want. No problem! We can get them done! Call Thursday afternoon. Are they ready? No. Tomorrow. Call all day Friday, until they had closed. So we spent the big weekend in the slip with no props. When they were finally finished the following week, the diver came back out to put them back on. He said yeah, they do that all the time. They will lie and tell you whatever you want to hear to get possession of your props. Then they ignore you. I am really impressed with how well Wilmington Propeller repaired and improved the prop on my wakeboarding boat. The water level in Lake Havasu was dropped nearly 4' recently and no one moved any bouys out farther to mark new hazards. Sure enough I hit a rock and put a ding in my prop. After I removed it, I also noticed that all of the blade edges were rough, so I took it in to Wilmington Propeller based on a quick google search. They looked it over and said that they could have it repaired in 1 week. I got a call in 6 days that it was ready. When I picked it up it looked brand new. I installed it and took it out on the lake yesterday and was quite surprised to see that my top end speed increased 4mph. This prop was especially designed to get the boat on plane quickly while loaded with 5500 pounds of water to create surf wakes. It had absolutely no problems and, in fact, it might now get on plane even faster. So, for a very reasonable price Wilmington Prop fixed my prop, made it look brand new, and improved its performance. The yard recommended Wilmington Propellor Service for a new prop for my trawler. I dropped it off and was called back, this was the entire conversation: (Gary in quotation marks, mine without for clarity.) "You need a new prop." What is the availability of a used one? "You might try (insert name of used place here) but I don't know, I've never been there." Gee, that's a surprise "I can get a new prop but it won't be here before the end of the week." No call at the end of the week, so on the next Tuesday, one week after my only four sentence conversation with Gary, I called and got an enraged, screaming diatribe, containing every swear word I've ever heard, about nothing that made any sense. "We have to straighten this sh#t out!!!" An exact quote, I wish it was on tape so I could play it for you. The only clue was that he kept repeating that he's never been to that place that HE recommended, a place I did not mention, except to say I was surprised a guy whose business is propellers has never been to a place that has "hundreds of used props," however, I don't really care if he's been there or not. Ok, 2020 has been a rough year, and we are all humans who make mistakes, I thought Gary would realize there was no point to his diatribe and want to sell an expensive prop. I waited for his call, which never arrived. The manager of the yard asked about the status of the prop. I told him about the lecture and said I had no idea, but I didn't want to do business with someone who didn't want it. He said, "I've known Gary for years, he's a great guy, I'll call him and straighten this out." He did, and got the same lecture, "Boy, he's really mad about never having been to (a place that we won't name)." I thought maybe that yard manager would come up with something I missed, or heard wrong, but no, Gary's explanation was the same. Several days later that yard manager told me Gary had my prop ready. I'd gladly drive further and pay more than do business with someone who clearly doesn't want it. What would I do if there was a problem with a prop I bought from a guy I can't talk to? One who won't even call me to tell me my prop was ready to pick up. I called Olympic Propeller in Washington. I gave them the specs, they had one ready to go. The total cost, including shipping, was quite a bit less than Wilmington Propellor, for exactly the same new Michigan Wheel propellor. Buying the prop from Olympic was a drama free, easy transaction. These guys were great to deal with. I will definitely go there again( hopefully I don't have to). The three people that I dealt with where are easy to communicate with and told me all my possibilities up front. I bought a new propeller and took my damaged one to get fixed so I could use it as a spare. The repaired propeller looked so good I put it back on and I'm keeping my new one for a spare. MY 320 Sundancer was suddenly making 14 knots @ 3600 RPM and not able to get up on plane. I decided the problem had to be with my props. My diver suggested Wilmington Propeller for a scan and rebalance, and removed and brought the props there for the work. Wilmington provided a full spec report on each prop, balanced and repaired them back to factory specs. Price was fair, work was well documented and completed quickly. I busted the skeg off my outdrive and after the sixth person I talked to told me to go to Wilmington Propellor to get it fixed it finally sunk in. I was not disappointed. They were able to weld the skeg back on the torpedo without needing the internals removed which saved a lot of money and hassle. The skeg was busted almost flush with the torpedo yet they were able to weld it back up, looking better than new. read more

I cant say enough good stuff about Wilmington Propeller Service.I work on the " OCEAN ROSE"....a kelp-cutting vessel.We hit a submurged log and tore up our prop pretty good.We limped our vessel down to Ventura Harbour and were going to cantact a local prop shop for repairs.The guys at the boatyard suggested "Wilmington".Im glad we listened to them.We were greeted by Gary,whom I believe to be the owner.He asked us about our vessel.Wanted to know what we did.We told him that a million baby abalone will go hungry untill we could get back in the water and harvest some kelp for the little guys.He took us and our damaged prop into the shop area and pulled several of his guys off what they were doing and got them busy on our prop.We expected 3-4 days at the least because the prop was pretty messed up.Gary called us THE NEXT DAY....The prop was done and ready to be picked up !!! Took my prop there for an estimate on some minor repairs on my boat prop and i was quoted approximately 250.00 + . I will say that they were very nice. It seemed a little high since my prop wasnt that badly damaged. I decided to take it to Hill Marine on a recommendation from a friend. Hill Marine rebuilt my Prop for about 140.00.
