Friday December 8th while driving through Niagara my vehicle experienced what I felt was a loss of…read morepower. Having had no previous difficulty with it I wondered if i may have gotten water in a fuel line or bad fuel or something. I exited in Grimsby and put $60 of premium fuel in my tank at 1:54 pm according to my receipt. I drove it on the service road for 5-10 minutes to see if it improved which it didn't. I then went into the nearby dealership, Grimsby Ford. I explained the situation I was in and they were able to get it into the shop at about 2:30 . Not long after I was told that my number 4 coil had gone bad, that they would replace it as well as a couple other things, ie. air filter etc. The price all in was going to be $738.00. There was no breakdown of how it added up to $738, just a verbal request for approval. I needed it fixed so I had to agree. I left to grab lunch across the street and upon return my vehicle was outside ready to go. I paid my bill at 3:52 but on examination of it later I saw that I had been charged $443 plus tax for Labor which amounted to more than $500 of the bill. The vehicle was in the shop for 80 minutes max. I have receipts with times to illustrate this. It seems like an excessive and rather highhanded, cavalier approach to handling a customer that had few options. I called the dealership and spoke to Adam, the service manager, I politely expressed my dissatisfaction with having spent nearly $500 on 80 minutes of labor when there is a big sign in the waiting area that clearly states the shop rate is $120 per hour. Adam the service manager says his mechanic worked fast and suggested that I should be happy that I wasn't sitting there for four hours. Adam the service manager felt justified in telling me he felt it was fair and so of course I feel justified in doing whatever i can do to prevent this from happening to anyone else in the market. Complaining on social media platforms is new to me but I am going to be very good at it in short order. Nice talking to you Adam, I'm going to have to end this now (remember). I've got other platforms to move on to. It's nice to be the first to post about these banditos.
