He's able to have conversations with other adults, wave and give high fives, and love being around the other kids. We bumped up to 2 days a week last January, and I feel very strongly that the older kiddos really helped my son find his voice. It's nice that we weren't locked in for the year going 1 day a week. We are able to discuss with the director how we as parents feel things are going and can change our program when we all agree it's time. The director is absolutely top notch. She's intentional with every activity she sets out for the kids, and lets the kids take the lead (within reason). She's in tune with the needs of every child, flexible, caring, and has helped me as a first-time mom relax and trust my son's timeline. It also helps that my son is also really drawn to her, and talks about her all the time! A co-op is a co-operation program where both parents and teachers are helping to guide children throughout their early developmental years. As parents, we contribute to the learning environment by fostering communication skills, gross and fine motor skills, develop social-emotional understanding and respect, and learning independence. I love how I get to stay and be there with my son. I am able to see how he grows, and I can take on duties to ensure a healthy and clean environment. I'm so excited to see how "Caterpillars" go this year because this will be the first time my son will be at school 3 days a week for 3 hours and only 1 of those days I will be with him.

Because she has Down Syndrome, Sofia receives daily therapies that Mt Taylor was gracious enough to host at their school, making it possible and easier for us to ensure her success. I love how easy the staff is to talk to and how comfortable they make the parents feel with everything; I never feel stressed and am greeted like a friend every time I pick Sofia up or drop her off (especially when I pick her up lol). Sofia thrives at Mt Taylor and I have been so proud of her maturity and growth while under their expert and compassionate care. Not only that, but they charge an incredibly reasonable monthly rate with flexible pickup and drop off times to accommodate any schedule without requiring a complicated fee schedule or extra work for the parent. My two and a half year old son started about four months ago in the Preparatory class, and words truly cannot express how grateful I am that a preschool like this exists. The school is very diverse. They teach through the Montessori Method, which seems to work well for my son. The curriculum is very practical, and they teach many life skills. My son has blossomed mentally and socially in such a short time span. He has learned "please", "thank you", "excuse me", "no thank you", "more please", etc. and uses these words in the appropriate context. He can also all of a sudden name all of the colors, numbers, shapes, and is starting to recognize letters! The teachers and staff there are beyond caring and concerned with EVERY one of their students (as well as the parents). If I have a question or concern, the teachers are always available and will address me, distraction free. They are always very organized in the lesson plan and have a clear understanding of my son and his progress. All of the teachers obviously love children and love teaching them; so it is not hard to understand why our son cannot wait to go to school. It is also a VERY clean facility. It NEVER smells like some of those other enclosed preschools with indoor diaper changing areas. It offers a safe and nurturing atmosphere perfect for the curious child. There is a great emphasis on cleanliness. The classroom is always spotless and kids are told to help clean. The Montessori equipment, which teaches fine motor skills, is always neatly put away on the shelves indoors. They also have a fabulous shaded play yard with a sand pit, water table and many other tools to enhance gross motor skills. I would highly recommend this school to anyone. We visited two other schools in our search for the right one and this school is hands down the best option!
