WARNING!!! DO NOT BOARD YOUR DOGS HERE!!! If I could give Willow Run Kennels zero stars, I would - for negligence and mistreatment. We entrusted our two dogs to Jeff and John at Willow Run Kennel. When we dropped them off they both had a clean bill of health and were in great condition. We left multiple contact numbers with Jeff/John for them to let us know should the dogs need anything or should Willow Run need to contact us for any reason. Further, during our trip, we called to check up on the dogs and were told by John that they both were great and that everything was fine. However, when we picked them up - "great" and "fine" were the furthest from the truth. Both dogs were unrecognizable - they had lesions all over their bodies, and faces. We scheduled an emergency visit to the vet where the vet declared they were severely dehydrated, had bacterial infections, and mange. When we spoke to Jeff to ask how this could have happened, he brushed it off with excuses and blamed the situation on "misjudgment". We trusted Willow Run Kennels with our precious dogs - two lives - and the neglect and abuse that our dogs experienced at the Kennel is incomprehensible and unforgivable. We truly have no words and are heartbroken by the way our dogs were mistreated. In addition to other actions we are taking we private regarding this matter, we want to tell others what happened so that you do not make the same mistake that we did. We would STRONGLY advise everyone to please STAY AWAY - for the sake of your animals. Do NOT board your pets here. Do NOT trust this place or these people. read more

Pros: The owner, Jeff, is friendly and takes time to chat with you. That made me feel comfortable to leave my furry friend. The price was $13 per day, very reasonable. Charlie, my dog, had a open air and sheltered space. They fed him his own kibble, and when Jeff noticed Charlie didn't like to eat from his bowl he got him a different bowl. When I picked up Charlie he seemed happy, not traumatized. Cons: I'm nervous to review this kennel because I want to hoard it for myself. Summary: This kennel is now Charlie's home away from home. read more

Wonderful, thoughtful care. Will always return! The staff is very accommodating and helpful, and my dog always comes home in good shape, and is very happy when I arrive to pick him up. They are very reliable and I appreciate their help caring for my pup while I am away. read more

We really wanted to like this place, as the owners (father and son) sounded very nice both on the phone and in person. But the place is filthy dirty and smelly. Our dog, left there for a little over a week, didn't seem to be treated badly or anything. However, it came home smelling horribly of pee and poop. This kennel is sure inexpensive but I guess you get what you pay for. Never again. read more

I used to use Willow Run about 15 years ago but left the area. I am now back and they are as reliable and delightful as ever. Jeff and his son could not be more accommodating and really understand dogs. Unlike other kennels I have used they have a very wide window of time to pick up or drop off your dog. While most dogs don't particularly like being left at the kennel, my border collie absolutely loves it. When we drive in the driveway at Willow Run, he barks, jumps up and down and will pratically pull your arm off to get over to the runs. Jeff, the owner, always makes sure that the dogs in adjacent runs are compatable. We always refer to Willow Run as "the dog resort," and for my dog it truly is just that. I have used this kennel for over 30 years, and have always been quite pleased with the care and attention given to my dogs. Jeff is very friendly, easy to deal with, and the facility is clean and the dogs are well cared for. Add to that, a very reasonable price, and you've got a winning combination. I took my dogs there this weekend, and never will again, which is sad because they like it there. He has very strict hours 8am-5pm only, even though he lives on the site. We were stuck in 95 traffic and were running late. We called to say we were running late. We got there at 6, he wouldn't let us take our dogs home. He claimed that he fed the dogs at his kennel at 5 and that If we were to go back and get the dogs it would cause a rush of excitement of the dogs in the kennel......which would cause bloat in the dogs that had eaten an hour earlier, and he would end up with a kennel full of dead dogs. I'm sorry but bloat only happens in a few certain dogs, and only if they are excited within an hour of eating. He easily could have let us take our dogs home, he was rude and we went home while our dogs stayed there. I almost called to police to get our dogs back. I had to go back this morning before work to pick up our dogs. I was yelled at about how much I had inconvenienced him. He even tried telling me that dogs are prone to bloat from anywhere between 4-7 hours after eating......what a joke. The kennel is behind his house, he kept my dogs. My dogs are my kids, I was extremely angry. Also beware of the fact that he does not ask for or require shot records..... read more

Like one of the other reviewers, we had previously used Willow Run, but then moved away from the area for several years. We are back and have been delighted that Willow Run is as great as ever. Jeff and his son are exceptionally accommodating and treat our dogs (and all the dogs there) with affection and concern. Our favorite pet hotel. read more
