Three train lines run through here so it is convenient!

Car vandalism, break-ins, and catalytic converter thefts reported. Several people have been fatally struck by trains here over the years, so be careful to look both ways before crossing the tracks! Traffic is almost always congested if you are coming from Huntingdon Pike. The nice neighborhood is slowly degenerating as lower class people move in. Many local shops within walking distance.

There are lots of parking options…read more On the toward West Trenton direction there is a super large dollar per day lot (free on weekends) and there is a number of spots on the street for free! There is also a lot across from the church where you can park for free. On the side that goes to Center City, there is only a monthly permit lot. There is a small area that is warm and available for waiting when it gets cold. The ticket office is open from 5:30 AM to 11:30 AM during the week and manned by Joe, a kind old man who is very helpful in answering all your train and parking questions. Would be great if they opened a starbucks or something here too.

Traveled from Los Angeles to Philly this holiday (with my sons) and rode Septa out of Warminster…read moreseveral times over the course of ten days. We traveled from PHL airport to Warminster upon arrival, rode to 30th Street station (from Warminster) to visit the Mutter Museum, took Septa to Fern Rock then the Broadway subway to the stadium for an Eagles Game (GO BIRDS!) and finally Warminster back to PHL to fly home. Each ride was SPECTACULAR! Friendly and knowledgeable conductors, clean cars, and a smooth (cost effective) ride. It was extremely easy, safe and an enjoyable experience all around! We drove there to go for a day trip to Philadelphia. It was convenient to go from Warminster to Jefferson station downtown Philadelphia, and the same way back. Kids 11 and under ride for free.

There is no coffee shop at the station, you would need to walk down one block to The Real MarketPlace or the gas station. There is an underground tunnel to walk from inbound and outbound trains, but there can be flooding if there's enough rain. There are a few train lines that run through Jenkintown so that's what makes this station busy. I would get there early if you need to purchase tickets. And earlier then 700 am if you want parking during the workweek. Needs some updates as this is a very old train station. Septa keeps raising train pass fares (I understand for employees cost of living), but why couldn't they make a few updates!!

Chestnut Hill West is a very nice station compared to other Septa stations. There is covered…read moreseating and an inside waiting area, plenty of parking, and the station is accessible. Although the trains generally leave on time, Septa uses the extra space here for equipment storage, so every once and a while the train will be delayed by twenty minutes or more. The regular crew at this location is consistently nice and know what they're doing. For the most part if you smile and try to be friendly, you'll make their day and your commute much nicer. The best part about this station is that it is just steps away from beautiful Chestnut Hill so it is a great regional rail destination.

I like the Chestnut Hill West Station for a number of reasons…read more.. 1. It is the first/last station on the line. You can arrive prior to your train's departure and wait INSIDE of the train instead of waiting out in the elements (although, yes, there is covered outdoor seating as well, if your train has not yet arrived). You also get your choice of seats. 2. It is extremely proximate to two primo coffee shops (Starbucks & Chestnut Hill Coffee Shop). A nice hot cup-o-joe is good company on the quiet ride car. 3. Conductors are generally pretty nice. There is still the oddball who asks you for your pass three times before you get to center city, but for the most part they are pleasant and reasonable. 4. You rarely see an old POS train run on this line anymore. The trains are in decent condition and kept fairly clean. 5. It's a cool old fashioned train station! I took a star away because, face it, it's still SEPTA. They can be quite heartless on the days that you're running late, soaked to the bone, screaming, crying, etc. SEPTA runs on SEPTA's schedule only. This means that whether they are 35 minutes late or 2 minutes early- they are still on time, per SEPTA. Better make it because those doors never reopen for anyone!

New fence along the side parking lot to keep pedestrians from walking across the tracks (which was causing for muddy and at times dangerous situations). Now what I'd like to see done: 1. The station was originally built with a canopy that extended the entire length of the platform. I'd like to see this restored at some point. I'd prefer a business or generous donation from the local community vs. the city paying for it as it's not a high priority. If you step off the train towards the end of the platform and it's raining, you're going to get wet. 2. There is a beautiful station here that is open at limited times. It'd be great if some small business could revive this building and make it useful again. The ticket office needs one small window. I'd say a coffee shop, but Chestnut Hill Coffee and Starbucks make that unnecessary. Anyway, something to add to the life of the stop would be great - Chestnut Hill shops stretch almost all the way to the train station so it's definitely possible to have a successful business here. Parking is readily available, although it's easy to get bottlenecked during rush hour. Also, if you are planning on cutting it close, the conductor often only opens up the train door farthest down the platform. I really don't get this, especially if it's raining or hot. But it can be a good trek down the platform if it's a long train. Overall it's a good stop, although it could definitely use some more work to really make it a Chestnut Hill gem.

Very well maintained station with frequent service into center city Philadelphia. There's a…read moresurprisingly large amount of parking here due to the razed turntable and other bygone railroad functions. The station exterior is a finely appointed Reading Railroad stone. Built in 1931 the structure has been holding up pretty well. The interior is comfortable with plenty of amenities. There is a bathroom, benches, water fountain, and a schedule rack. Recently SEPTA crews made their way out to Chestnut Hill East to repair the station canopy roofs, repaint benches, and repaint the platforms. The station looks very sharp. Half hour peak service and hourly off peak service is offered here. Sadly, not much in lines of nearby places to grab coffee or snacks. Germantown Ave. is a 3 minute drive or 5 minute walk, so I'd recommend coming prepared with your own java. However if you'd like to zumba or hit the cycle studio after a train ride from work, there are a few of these businesses directly across the street! Make sure you pay attention to the track your train is pulling off from. There are three separate departure tracks available here. Pro tip: generally the first two cars are the only ones that will be open during off-peak hours, make your way up early so that you can grab a seat!
