The only reason I'm giving this farm one star is the amount of effort these horses put in trying to keep up. After riding here for a few years I finally said farewell after so much drama. If you don't want to show, board a horse, or ride multiple times per week you were not a top priority. It is all about the money and not the horses!! Throughout the times riding at this barn it was clear that there was and still is constant turnover of instructors. There were at least 15 different instructors in about 5 years and the makeup lessons. There are only 2 instructors that are still teaching at the farm after many years. More advanced riders such as myself were given the 'left over' horses during the summer camp and regular lessons since all the others were used way too much. These left over horses desperately needed a qualified trainer to work with them and not kids. Including a therapeutic riding horse that reared in the cross ties and needed way more training before it should have been added to the program. The beginner horses were used so much that they would go lame every other week. Safety is not a top priority at this farm for the campers, riders, and horses. In a few lessons I can remember a newer horse that was placed in beginner lesson programs that would throw riders weekly... but was never taken out of the lessons and given training. As for the birthday parties the owner never gave proper training. It was always whose not doing something... and throw them in there. We never had training for summer camp CIT either, even though it is stated online as well. If I have to pay over $300 a week I do not want to be treated as trash from other CIT's. There was no schedule for what to do with the campers only there lesson time and it was up to me to figure out what to do with them... with my great training. The barn owner can be rude, forgetful, and condescending. I had to wait for years to get my 3 paid for makeup lessons. After deliberating with the owner that in fact I had them even after I sent her the old emails, she kept denying. After stumbling across a previous farm horse I posted an older photo of that horse, named Magic, with me at Lil folk. Magic is obviously way happier at the place that he is now. The barn owner decided what a great opportunity to twist my words. She denied that was the horse yet went to the horses owner and told her something else. Just childish. I'll attach the photos below. You can't have your own opinion of this barn unless it's what the owner wants. Even if it would benefit the horses care and the safety of all riders. Overall I would NEVER recommend this barn for anything The last photo is BOSTON! He shared his bridle with Magic, but used different bits. My granddaughter had her fourth birthday party at Li'l folk Farm. When we first got there they took us to in upper room and made us wait for all the guests to come but didn't really provide any activities for the kids who just ran back-and-forth all over the room for about 25 minutes. Then they came and took all the kids down to ride horses what we thought originally were pony rides turned out to be small horses which seemed a little big for the age of the children and some of them were scared, ponies would've been our preference. After each child had a couple of turns on the ponies we were taken to a barn where there were goats and sheep a rabbit and a couple of chickens and they let the kids hold the rabbit and the chickens and they could brush the goats with brushes that they provided. I think the kids had a good time but I thought they could've done a lot better job at $350 for an hour and a half. My biggest issue is that they wouldn't allow my granddaughter to open up her gifts in front of her friends even though there was a party room that was perfectly acceptable for that purpose. The girls who ran the party didn't do the greatest job and seem to be a little bit impatient with the children all in all my granddaughter had a good time and so did her friends but I could not recommend lil folk farm. read more

This review is for the Barnyard Bash parties offered at Lil Folk Farm. We held our daughter's 3rd birthday party at this farm. Our daughter loves animals so this was a great option in the New England Winter, as the entire party is held indoors. The pony rides were a huge hit with the crowd. They lasted approximately 30 minutes, which meant that a crowd of 15 kids could get two rides each. This was followed by petting goats, sheep, bunnies and chickens. This latter feature was a hit with adults and the kids. Made for a lot of photo ops. The entire barn including the room where the party is held was heated Lack of five stars because they don't have an actual bathroom but a port-a-potty, which is difficult for little kids to use. read more

They stole my money. There's no ZERO star option. Otherwise that's what I'd give this place! Took 20 minutes to find someone to get information from! Was told that my appointment was at two but when I got there they informed me (after twenty minutes) that my appointment was at 1 instead. They gave me an obligatory "sorry" but still stole my $50 bucks and provided no possible makeup date or any chance at a refund! This place is a complete rip off!!! read more

I don't recommend this place at all the trainers are horrible. The only positive reviews are for birthday parties that are written by people that don't know anything about horses and barns and don't know how horses should be treated and barns operated. read more

My daughter took lessons here for a while and kept getting thrown off the same pony. Her instructor told her to keep at it, and one day the pony kicked the instructor and took off with my daughter on her back. After that we never went back. I just don't feel it is a safe riding facility. That and the fact that they don't take proper care of their animals. read more

In my opinion this is not a safe riding facility. When my daughter rode there they put her on ponies that were not safe and then had her jumping HUGE jumps before she was ready. When my daughter had a fall the instructor in the ring told her not to tell her parents! Judge for yourself, but I would not recommend this facility. There are plenty of other places to ride in this area that are professional and that put safety first. read more

A request from your neighbors: Please, please, please clean the front paddock occasionally: Since we moved here 2 years ago, we have yet to see anyone remove any of the manure in the front paddock, only in the paddock with the red barn - maybe because they are boarders who are paying to keep it maintained? We appreciate that manure and it's smell are part of barn life, but Three horses' worth of daily manure piles up fast in that paddock, as does the smell - last month's excessive rain created mushy poop up to their ankles at times, sometimes with their hay mixed right in. Hopefully the trees will be wrapped to deter the horses with the munchies! The front paddocks are the first impression that your neighbors & potential clients see and smell, and we hope that only the positive online reviews are true. As the weather gets warmer, the concern is that the flies and the smell that come from the paddocks will only get worse if they are not maintained. Thank you! read more

Unfortunately I cannot say much good about this farm. The owner comes across as a sweet woman but she has the sales skills of a snake- come to find out she does not even ride horses. The lesson horses are over worked and not the type of horses a reputable stable would use(well ok there's maybe 2 horses so they are worked very very hard). The instructors are wonderful, but even they have mentioned the lack of direction and safety of the farm and the horses. A friend of mine purchased a horse here- the owner lied about everything...and when she is confronted she just smiles and acts like it's all ok and plays stupid. There are soooo many better farms out there- whether you are looking to purchase an animal or send your child for camp and or lessons- she treats her animals as a commodity. Frankly this barn should not even be in business. Please look up all the other farms in the area as they have more to offer and unlike lil folk farm the horses are actually treated well. read more

I completely agree with Lara. I rode at this barn for 4 years and regret the amount of time I wasted there. Instructors do not know what they are doing, often teaching incorrect or very little to the riders, and some aren't even certified trainers. Like Lara said, they move children up very fast to keep customers, and often have young kids jumping unsafe heights. If you are a serious rider, you will not gain anything at all from this barn. Also, the horses are not well cared for at all, working 4 or 5 lessons a day in the boiling heat and then put back in tiny stalls that are like ovens for the rest of the day, or out in the paddock with absolutely no shade. I had fallen 28 times at my duration of this barn. In the two years I have left, I have fallen once. I was pften thrown on unsafe horses that "had problems" they wanted me to work out; this led to me being terrified because of being made to ride horses that would buck, bolt, rear, etc. I highly recommend August Farm in Holliston or Saddle Rowe in Medway if you are looking for a good, fun, safe barn. read more
