If you need to use the Blue Line and have a choice of any of the Blue Line Stations, I'd recommend Willow. It has, by far, the most parking available. Parking is free and the structure is well lit at night. Police also regularly patrol the area. 2750 American Ave, Long Beach 90806 Free On-site parking: 863 Spaces 2 EV charging stalls: 1st Level near west entrance. Many people make complaints about this station! But it's across the street from the Long Beach Memorial hospital as well as places to eat. There's also a park about a block away. Does it have a distinct, odd odor? Yes. Do people blast rap music or offer you to listen to their own music? Yes. Are there people who don't obey the law? Yes. Are people loud? Yes. It's public transportation. You're going to see different kinds of people. But that doesn't mean you should be scared! This train will take you to Downtown LA (or Compton, pick your poison!) for $1.50 in half the time. On your way to LA, you will get to see lots of cool graffiti art. You can even park your car here at this station. There's a police station near by, if you're still scared. FOR FREE. (Hint: If you don't want to park at the Hospital and pay $10, which can be used for your lunch. lol)

One of the best LA Metro stations and one of the least busy light rail stations! Parking is free as well.

This station and stop is well kept up, clean platforms, easy access, signage and kiosk... Exiting off the platform onto the street as well as returning was a bit different from some prior stops or even compared to the Expo line as the jumbo crossing signs are in the path of the sidewalk, which is fine and safe in a lot of ways, but I kept thinking it these started coming down mid cross my tall 6'1 self is like at sign level lol, but you do have a little warning when this happens. Lots of signage to help you navigate and still visible during night. The parking lot is nice (though limited) with connecting services directly in front of it, which you don't see at every Metro Station. I did notice it was barely in use, possibly due to the more recent restrictions and enforcements over the last three years. You can use your metro tap card (physical or digital) to connect with Long Beach Metro buses (reduced rate). Overall was glad to get off here to make my way over to a few places I'd been meaning to check out and only a few stops before the last stop at Downtown Long Beach.

The Pacific Avenue stations is very similar to the 5th street stop just before with a long onsides platform as unlike other Metro Lines the A actually loops around after it's last stop at Downtown Long Beach station rather than reversing in the direction it came like the B (Red), E (Gold) Expo, D (Purple) or numerous others. The Pacific Avenue Station is extremely close to Ocean Blvd, The Pike Outlets, Beach, Shoreline and the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific where I had my high school prom ages ago. This station itself was built in late 1990 and has been remodeled and updated several times. Like many stations closer to the water and DTLB... there is no direct parking lot for riders after Wardlow Station and Pacific Coast Hwy Station. You can purchase a reload tap card metro fare at either end of the platform for Pacific Avenue and also connect with city busses for Long Beach as well as the Passport Shuttle Bus, AquaLink or AquaBus water taxis. You can take the train from this station all the way back to 7th & Metro Station or even as far as Azusa, APU and through San Gabriel Valley. Definitely recommend this as a great station being even more central if not just as much as the final station for the Metro A. "...Come on, it's the choo, choo!"

It is right across from the Burger King, and unlike other stations, there are a lot of empty storefronts in the area. There is no dedicated parking for commuters. It is the 2nd station going North, and such, is a nice place to enter the train to pretty much be assured a seat (it's a long ride to DTLA and preferable to seat vs standing). It gets a lot more crowded (standing room only sometimes) as the line continues to pick up passengers. The big news in June 2023, has been the merging of parts of the old Gold Line into the Blue Line. Now, Pasadena and Long Beach are connected directly and can be traveled without going through any connections (whereas before it was 2 transfers). This also means that Union Station is now served directly by the Blue Line (along with two stations that we enjoy visiting: Little Tokyo and Chinatown). Traveling today, it was a bit surreal to not be forced to get off on the 7th St/Metro Center. Instead we took it 3 more stops to the brand new Little Tokyo station. We could have continued to go directly to Union Station and beyond to Pasadena. It's crazy to think that you can go directly to Union Station from here, and then from there, take Amtrak to get to Chicago or beyond by rail. LA Metro continues to enhance the Light Rail/Subway system in LA County, and it's great that the line that serves Long Beach is an important part of that.

Although it is convenient this is what happened to me April 11th 2025 (Grand Prix weekend) . I have just moved to Los Angeles from the east coast in February 2025 I was at the Anaheim station at 5:40pm in Long Beach and was on the platform with my dog, A miniature schnauzer, Scottish terrier mix weight of 12 pounds. Upon arriving to the platform, we had 13 minutes before the arrival of the northbound train. at approximately three minutes before the trains arrival (Coincidentally, after I again checked the Monitor For the trains arrival it stated three minutes) In that same time a heavy set approximate height of 6'3" ,African-American (very dark tone) Male Dressed in dark clothing, short hair "appeared in short twists) and I believe in Krocs or krock sandles with socks and black sweatpants, and a dark blue or black sweater Walked onto the platform from the north side. As he walked onto the platform, he appeared very calm and it Seemed he was just walking past ( I was near the middle of both sides on the platform, but standing on the south side of the platform next to a bench in the middle Where the Southside train would stop. As he walked onto the platform, he very casually stopped right next to my dog and immediately kicked her as hard as he could off the platform, And seconds later, I found myself being pushed off the platform and landing on the tracks on the southbound train side of the platform. As I fell, I did not lose consciousness and was able to immediately pick myself up after landed on the full right side of my body with my right arm, tucked up between my body and partially the right side of my back also being impacted by the fall. I got up from the tracks and backed up across the street to where more people were waiting for the bus that was adjacent to the platform and had also witnessed the incident (they too started yelling at the unknown person) there was possibly about 15-20 ppl around during the incident. At this point, After picking myself up and making sure I had distance away from the individual, I Immediately pulled out my cell phone to call the police, The individual then appeared to yell across the platform to me, saying something I took as a question. You have your cell phone on you? He said, I replied yes Of course I do and I'm calling the police and you are done for, it's all Over for you. It's over you're done with. In addition to that, he yelled back "well I'm going to call my mom". Idk why he said that but then he continued to state a comment along the lines of Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve, And some other things that I don't quite remember ( I believe he also said you're such a pussy). I ABSOLUTELY BELIEVE THIS WAS A BASHING. But there are also homeless people that live at the beacon place apartments directly across from the station. I was in the hospital Friday until Sunday. I have 2 broken ribs and a fractured elbow in addition to other bruising and damage to my right leg & nerve damage due to the impact. I have been told it will be approximately six weeks before my ribs can show signs of healing if all goes well. I have reached out to the police department in Long Beach and metro and as of now April 29th have received no word or anything. From my understanding the case has not even been assigned to an investigator. BE SUPER CAUTIOUS I KEEP SAFETY ITEMS ON YOU.

The Norwalk station is at the beginning of the metro line and so it was very easy to find an open seat. This was my first time riding on it and it was pretty nice. Quicker than the flow of the 105 in a lot of places. There were many stops on the way to El Segundo and you don't wait very long before you are on the way again. On open stretches of the freeway we actually moved faster than the cars! so this train is fast. Tip - make sure you pay for your parking pass. Public transportation could alleviate some of the 105/605 traffic and help the overall environment, but we're left with what we have. The public transportation in California is dysfunctional. This station (and most others in the GreenLine) is dirty and rarely cleaned. Most of the trash generated is just from homeless or inconsiderate people, so it is constantly getting trashed. (I feel bad for the custodians.) To deter homeless people from camping here, there are no bathrooms, chairs are uncomfortable to sit on, trashcans are limited, and it is open to the harsh environment. As of the time of this writing, the price to enter is $1.75 one way. If you get on the wrong train/direction, you can always just transfer for free if you tap. But also, no one pays because there is hardly any enforcement, and some of the entrance scanners are broken. Most commuters are regular people just trying to get to work, but you will always have that one mentally ill, inconsiderate, or homeless person who causes a nuisance during your ride every once in a while. Expect to encounter one of them, so you don't get completely shocked when it happens. This station takes you to LAX if that is your main destination. Getting from place to place will cost you about $1.75 each way and your required to have one of their tap cards on you if your choosing to ride otherwise you might be subject to a fine from what I hear is pretty hefty so just get it and pay it! If your looking to go somewhere out of LA your going to have to take the train to the end then a very long bus ride to get to where else you gotta go it's quite the effort logistically trust me I tried it so with that said your better off getting a ride! On the plus side I did find that the majority of the trains were like almost new so that was definitely something nice about it but that's really it. Overall this is public transportation in LA and it's not that great hence why everyone drives but if you can get away from having to drive and you have time to kill then by all means take the train if not stick to driving your better off that way!

It resides on the outskirts of the city of Compton, Los Angeles, bordering on the northside of Long Beach. I did notice that there wasn't as much light as the sun set in the parking lot area which is also part of their bus bay depot for lots of connections including one I took more inland down Artesia Blvd. Not a ton of signs and postings for route like you'd hope they'd have to make navigating easy, except for a small few on the platform. The Compton Station is only one away and it's super decked out compared to Artesia. Their Metro tap platforms and metro kiosk don't exist at this station, which I've never seen before. I don't know if they did at one point, but it does mean you can board here without a cost, but should still have a validated physical or digital card (via the Tap app) on your person in case of inspection - you can purchase and reload cards in the app or at local convenience places such as 7-Eleven and CVS to name a few. Some connecting services run more frequently than others so I'd recommend mapping your trip out in advance or having apps handy. Security was around and available as well as keeping an open watch. There was a man on the tracks at one point which they kindly asked him to relocate as this is a crime and he could go to jail as well as be injured... He decided to flip them off and go about his way O.o, and they're just trying to do their job and keep him and others safe. Welcome to Artesia Station. One thing I did appreciate about this station aside from security and the friendly bus drivers and seating in places I didn't expect were the art piece and messages from children displayed throughout the pillars of the platform. The last time we drove ourselves in and parked, we had to wait almost an hour before we finally were able to extricate our car from the lot. I was none too happy that I missed The Psychedlic Furs' set. So the earlier shuttles are better IMHO in case anything happens on your shuttle ride. The total ride is usually about 40 mins. If your show happens to be on a weekday in rush hour, expect longer transit times. Once your Hollywood Bowl show is over, you should make your way back down to the shuttle loading area (walk all the way down the hill and into the under-street tunnel. Take the first exit up to the right and you'll pop up to catch the Lakewood line. They tell you when you arrive which Shuttle number you should return to, but if you forget - don't worry, they have lots of friendly shuttle employees who will gladly help you. It's cost-effective, fast, and super convenient. This is the only way we ever travel to the bowl. Thanks, HB shuttle!
