We have lived in Castle Gardens for almost 10 years and have belonged to the Castle Gardens Pool…read moreAssociation (CGPA) for 3 years. We absolutely love the pool! While growing up, my family belonged to several swim clubs over the years (and I have visited many others for parties and other things) and none come close to CGPA. Here's what makes CGPA great: Amazing Staff - This pool is well-maintained and well-run. Diving Board and Slide - Need I say more? Outside Food and Beverage (including alcohol) allowed in the pool area. Great Events and Kids Activities - Labor Day Party and Fireworks, Campout, Candy Bar Bingo, Dads Cannon Ball Contest, Swim Lessons, Water Aerobics Snack Bar prices are basically at-cost. The only thing about CGPA that could be improved is the pool stairs. They're not built-in and can be a bit difficult for swimmers with mobility issues. I'd love to see permanent stairs be added to the pool and perhaps one of those lifts that are becoming more and more common at pools.

I'm just gonna make this short and sweet for you :)…read more 5 bucks for a guest?! takes 38283838 years to find a parking spot a kid takes a shit in the pool every 10 mins the snack bar is always out of what you want and it's always crowded omggggg AND If it's raining he life guards won't let you swim cause they can't see you at the bottom of the pool AND they always yell at anyone over the age of 10 in the kiddy pool area but it's a pretty cute pool. the staff is pretty nice and the seating is nice. - A

I think Matt C. is a beast on Yelp, and I enjoy with most of his posts; however, when IM West…read morepopped up on the recent reviews screen, I had to chime in. If entry here is free, then I've been scammed out of $80 a semester over the past 18 months. I thought this would be a convenient workout spot on my way to and from Bogue Street from west-campus. I was a member from Summer 2011 - last semester. I finally wised up last semester, ate the fee and went elsewhere. Pros: 1. Decent equipment (if in working order) Cons: in no particular order 1. They are charging graduate students for access (maybe they charge everyone?) 2. The water fountains were not in working order for close to 3 months this past year and were not working during my last visit in September 2012...how is that acceptable? Seriously? How do you allow that to happen? 3. The men's locker-room usually smells like the urinals. 4. The lavatory and shower facilities are very outdated. Most urinals do not flush. If someone is dropping a biscuit, the emanation violates your face no matter where you are...there is no escape. That is harrowing. 5. This place is a flipping zoo during peak hours. I understand that comes with the territory, but this place is on a whole-nutha-level. I felt like I was in a mosh-pit battling my way to from station to station. The dumb-bell section during peak hours is like a BART platform after a Raiders game.

While it is not the greatest in terms of up-to-date facilities, it does have enough amenities to allow for a decent workout, especially on cold days. Entry to the facility is free for students, faculty, and staff. This allows for usage of the courts & field. However, usage of the pools and gym costs extra. Keep in mind, this is actually on MSU's campus (in East Lansing), but for some reason the Yelp map places it in Lansing.... map fail!

How would I rate my family experience at Mott HS Pool on Monday, February 16, 2026?…read moreIf I could, I would give ZERO stars. Let me explain why. My family - my wife, I and our three grand-kids (13, 7 and 2 years old) came to the pool in the morning. Main entrance to family locker room was locked. One of two changing rooms was locked. But it was not the worst. When my 2 years old granddaughter under my wife supervision was playing with her small (3 inch), soft (made of rubber), floating duckling, some lifeguard came up to them. He forbade my granddaughter to play with her duckling in the pool. I've asked him: Why? He answered: Because of the pool rule - "NO TOYS IN THE POOL". I've asked him: Why? Is this toy dangerous to anyone? He rudely replayed: "Because this is the rule!" We had to take the toy from our kid. She started crying. Thus the person ruined our granddaughter's joy. I've asked him twice: What is your name? He refused to answer. Finally, I figured out his name from another person. His name is Bill. I understand that Bill hid his name because he knew that he had done something inappropriate. We used to attend the pool for more than 10 years. Before February 16 we never met such an unfriendly person in Mott High School Pool. Greg W. 79 years old

I would not be allowed back in with out a 2nd payment next time Does this sound like an intelligent staff? I don't think so. To be fair I am a failed bus driver so maybe I don't get it. After all the customer is never right. And it was 500 cents that was the issue. I will say I really like the pickle ball players. Staff seems a bit dimwitted. After that horrible experience, I decided to change her lessons to one-on-one private lessons with a different instructor. It was mainly a sweet girl named Julia who worked with my daughter. My daughter became so excited about swimming! Julia was very patient with my daughter and after the lesson, she'd come right up to me and explain to me everything they went over, and what we needed to work on at home. So even though our first experience here was god-awful, our visits after were so that I'm still giving it 5 stars. Also it is a very nice pool to hang out around with ample swimming pools/areas. Man, it's rarely open. This season it hasn't even been open at all because of a mechanical issue and last summer it had several closures and hiccups throughout the season. And when it was open, a good part of the pool (the deep end) was closed off because they were short staffed. That means that all the other spaces got extra crowded, which wasn't the best scenario for a relaxing swim. Such a bummer! It's walking distance from my house so I REALLY REALLY want to love it, and mostly I REALLY REALLY want to visit it but we just can't because it's still been closed. We still walk our dog through the park, and I love the baseball games and checking out all the rad skaters in the skate park, but the pool is just a real bummer.
