    Awesome hole.

I just wanted to say how impressed I am with your course and your exceptional staff. I am fortunate to have played many incredible courses throughout the world and the customer service provided by your staff is "on par" with any private/country club I have experienced. I would especially like to thank Billy Hundt at the check in and Jim Neubecker as the starter. Both were very courteous and extremely helpful to everyone in my foursome. It is customer service like this that differentiates your course from many others in the area. It will always be a special stop for me when I am visiting Central Michigan.

The previous review from two years ago still holds up. Range balls and complimentary bottled water from the bev cart are a plus. Challenging course but very fair. Worth the $65 rate for twilight, but not sure I would feel about paying $85. A course really has to "wow" me for that kind of coin. But regardless, this has to be one of the best mid-Michigan courses without question. If you can play 36 I'd look into the Eagle Eye / Hawk Hollow 36 Hole package.

No GPS on the cart surprised me and no liquor or bar inside, not worth a buck fifty to me.

Great course! Very tough! Incredibly well kept! One of the top ten courses I've ever played. Dick the ranger sucked.

Big fan of this course, which imo is the best public course in the southern half of Michigan's LP.

My wife and I had the opportunity to play one of Michigan's premier public golf courses in Bath Township 10 minutes north of our State Capital in the central part of the state.

    Hickory Creek Golf Course

I've been golfing Hickory Creek since they first opened (initially the front nine only). We've held…read morenumerous outings here (church, work, other). John (owner) and Chef Mike always do a great job for us. The Friday fish fry's are great too. Good food. Good people. As for the golf, I love this course. Why? Character. The front nine plays different from the back nine. The front is more wooded. The back plays a little longer with water in play. The greens roll good and true. But I really like the course because, if you are on your game, you can score here. There are numerous shorter holes that accommodate scoring (1, 3, 5, 8, 9, 10 & 15) with a well placed, well struck drive. #3 gives a real "up north" feel as you stare down the fairway from the tee. #4 echos that feel. There is a risk reward on #5 if you try to cut the treeline angle, similar situation on #7. #8 and #9 are eagle holes if your drive is golden. #12 is tight and usually plays into the wind. No sense gambling here, play for par or no worse than bogey. #13 forces you to leave the driver in the bag. #14 let's you air it out and still leaves a good length approach. #15 is a hoot for the cut shot (from the back tees) or just cutting the corner (from the white tees). #17 is the signature hole, a peninsula par three from a slightly elevated tee. #18 is a good closing hole where pars and birdies fly and the occasional eagle is available. Plays slow on occasion and I wish there were more (or better) deals but it is not outrageous and you can get some pretty fair prices from their e-club. Keeps me coming back year after year for about two decades now.

The course is decent, the staff is abysmal. Tee boxes could use work, greens are well keptread more

I am visiting East Lansing from Houston TX. My best friend and her husband decided to arrange a…read moregolf outing for us and her assistant. I was super excited as I had only been golfing once before for a charity event. We arrived right on time for our tee time,( please excuse me if I get some of the terminology wrong - newbie lol), grabbed a couple assorted beverages, some snacks( nothing fancy as y'all's concession stand was closed - so we grabbed some candy and chips . Paid for our little 9 rounds and went on our way. Now as we made our way down to what we assumed were our carts ( no one working the counter where we paid mentioned anything to us at all), after a few minutes we decided these were ours. Spent a little while getting shoes and what not changed, drinks placed around, and clubs secured. It was right as were were beginning that one of our employees - yelled across the way to us loudly that we needed to get moving because we were late getting to our first round. We quickly moved ahead and proceeded to chat, laugh, have a good time and enjoy enjoy each other's company. One of the women in our group was trying to explain to us what club to use and stuff like that. We decided that we were going to stop at about 4 turns each at max because we didn't want to get caught up etc- and that we would let others play around if we needed. Well little did we know y'all were actually timing us !! As the young gentleman who so condescendingly told us we spent 23 mins on the hole - and the time should have been 15 mins. I am curious as to the time for the group ahead of us? Do you time everyone( how do you determine who to time )? This young man then proceeded to speak in such an offensive tone told us " I don't want to have to come back out here but I will if I have to..."( there was some other various gems he also shared )... he then drove off. Our group stared at each other for a few minutes just in shock at what had happened. I have never once felt so disrespected, uncomfortable , and awkward in my life. We all decided we would leave- and walk away from the money we had JUST paid. Y'all turned a gun and exciting afternoon into a miserable and awkward experience I will never forget. Please refresh me- who designed the course ? Was it Dye, Nicklaus .... Or wait- must have been Palmer???

I have concerns the Hawk Hollow Property courses could become complacent with lack of competition, and so far I am seeing indicators this is happening. Flat out, the course is not ready for play at its current rates, in its current condition. I have played a hand full of rounds in this short season out there, and the course just has a very disjointed feel to it. Not course conditions alone, the entire experience is cringeworthy for me. The bag drop area is at the least convenient/practical/sensible location possible. If this were a private club, i may understand it, but there is still traffic flow issues when more than 1 car are there. I use bag drops, many people don't...I can not use yours. Along with this awkward setup, the cart staff needs to do a better job if they are a part of the cumbersome process. I had 1 outstanding staffer walk over to my car to grab bags, advise on availability and where to go, set our cart up and continue to be available for other requests before our round. She was exceptional, and earned her due. Every other round started with zero assistance and ended with the obligatory club clean attempt...on already clean clubs. Missed the opportunity to get me a wet towel prior to round, which is what i use. I will reserve final judgement on the Pro Shop being upstairs....BUT it seems to make absolutely no sense for a public course to be so separated from the course and so central to the clubhouse. I see a lot of benefits for having a splashy Pro Shop, but their better sister properties get along just fine with practical. I want to love the course and its entire experience, or i will just go down the road, which is exactly what they need to avoid. Either crank the course up and make it all exceptional, or soften everything and make it friendly, but some sort of identity is needed.
