Eagle Eye is consistently rated in the top tier of Michigan's golf courses by Michigan Golf Advisor. Driving up to the rambling 65,00 sq. foot clubhouse, we could see that Eagle Eye Golf & Banquet Center was serious about their banquet and event business. The clubhouse has several large rooms and all have beautiful lake and golf course views. We were here, however, for some serious golf. My wife and I met two good friends at the "Eye" and had a chance to warm up on the driving range and putting green before our morning tee time. We found the fairways to be beautifully maintained. Five sets of tees provide total course yardage from 7,274 yards from the tips to 5,105 from the forward tees. The greens were quite large, had many challenging undulations and like the fairways, were also in flawless shape. This course has plenty of picturesque water holes and what seemed like a ton of strategically located sand traps that gave our foursome plenty of challenges. The highlight of our round was playing the Par 3 Hole # 17 which is an exact replica of the "Island Green" hole at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Verda, Florida. What a thrill it was to stick the Island Green from 136 yards on my first try and go on to nail down my Par. Bingo! Overall, Eagle Eye was a solid 5-star experience and a great way to spend a sunny June day with good friends in Michigan.

She is amazing at identifying what you need as an individual and how to make changes to improve your game. She makes a very frustrating game fun. After attempting golf a few times in the past and finding it very frustrating, my husband talked me into trying again so we could "golf together" in our retirement. He had golfed for years off and on but more recently was becoming obsessed with the game, so I figured if I didn't take up golf I may not see much of him. I reluctantly said I would try but only if I took lessons. Last summer I took a few lessons with another instructor that resulted in my being overwhelmed with information that I could not apply afterward. Thank goodness that my husband found Jan online. I went to my first lesson- she started out asking what I thought I needed to work on. By the end of the first lesson I knew she was the real deal. She individualized the lesson for what I needed to work on and clearly explained what I needed to do in ways that I could easily apply. My husband watched my first lesson and was so impressed by Jan that he asked if we could get a couples lesson package. Jan worked on instruction that would benefit both of us and what we needed as individuals. After just two lessons I went golfing with my husband and daughter and they were amazed how much I had already improved. I mean I won't be on the pro tour anytime soon but thanks to Jan I know what to work on and and have the confidence and knowledge to identify what I may be doing wrong. And if I can't figure it out Jan told me to text her from the course anytime! And if that wasn't enough she is super nice also.

I was super excited as I had only been golfing once before for a charity event. We arrived right on time for our tee time,( please excuse me if I get some of the terminology wrong - newbie lol), grabbed a couple assorted beverages, some snacks( nothing fancy as y'all's concession stand was closed - so we grabbed some candy and chips . Paid for our little 9 rounds and went on our way. Now as we made our way down to what we assumed were our carts ( no one working the counter where we paid mentioned anything to us at all), after a few minutes we decided these were ours. Spent a little while getting shoes and what not changed, drinks placed around, and clubs secured. It was right as were were beginning that one of our employees - yelled across the way to us loudly that we needed to get moving because we were late getting to our first round. We quickly moved ahead and proceeded to chat, laugh, have a good time and enjoy enjoy each other's company. One of the women in our group was trying to explain to us what club to use and stuff like that. We decided that we were going to stop at about 4 turns each at max because we didn't want to get caught up etc- and that we would let others play around if we needed. Well little did we know y'all were actually timing us !! As the young gentleman who so condescendingly told us we spent 23 mins on the hole - and the time should have been 15 mins. I am curious as to the time for the group ahead of us? Do you time everyone( how do you determine who to time )? This young man then proceeded to speak in such an offensive tone told us " I don't want to have to come back out here but I will if I have to..."( there was some other various gems he also shared )... he then drove off. Our group stared at each other for a few minutes just in shock at what had happened. I have never once felt so disrespected, uncomfortable , and awkward in my life. We all decided we would leave- and walk away from the money we had JUST paid. Y'all turned a gun and exciting afternoon into a miserable and awkward experience I will never forget. Please refresh me- who designed the course ? Was it Dye, Nicklaus .... Or wait- must have been Palmer???

Finally decided to treat myself to a set of new clubs and looked towards Maple Hill. They have absolutely everything. New, used, current and previous models of clubs. I'd be impressed if they didn't have what you were looking for. My fitting process was an incredible experience. I was able to schedule a fitting on super short notice (Like 15 hours notice) and they got me in the next day. I was helped by Hunter who was an absolute legend throughout the entire process. I warmed up and he got me set up with a few sets of irons. He did an amazing job of explaining the data behind each club and shot, which is great for someone like me with very little technical gold knowledge. He didn't push me towards any clubs, was mindful of my budget, didn't try to up charge me, and was extremely kind and courteous throughout the whole process. Throughout that all, there was no manager present so Hunter was practically running everything himself and somehow devoted his full attention to myself but other staff and customers, which I was very impressed with. 11/10 experience.

We live in Oakland County, but the grandparents in East Lansing were ready and willing to babysit for us. I purchased two adult (age 16+) drop-in class reservations online for $14 each (the spots for the date you want usually open up for access/reservation about 2 days before). They offer very reasonable discount packages otherwise as 5 and 10 class card groupings (you turn in a card when you show up for a reserved spot in the class). In fact when we showed up, they had 50% off the 5 class card package for the week. Too bad since we live so far away and I just feel lessons like this require regular/more frequent attendance to catch on. They also offer student and senior discounts. I was hesitant to sign up for one of the other more franchised / popular dance studios local to me that had a buy one get one free intro class because I'd heard the first lesson was more of a hard sell on getting you to buy a package versus an actual lesson. From what I saw online and posted in their studio, the Spartan Dance Center offers tons of other classes, but I, of course, can only speak for the salsa lesson. It was a small group when we were there, another single girl who'd had 2 lessons before and another couple that was a little more advanced. So if you are single and/or don't have a partner for the night, don't be afraid to show up. But, yet, I am one of those people who has no fear of that. David was a great teacher for the basics and, while he starts with salsa, he did indicate he adds on the merengue and bachata dances to the lessons. You will usually use all 3 dances when you hit any club or social that plays Latin Caribbean style music. One thing I love about salsa is that the rhythm and moves cut across the cultures. I am actually Latina, but am admittedly a sorry dancer. The instructor and I were the only Latins there. :-) And, a word to the guys: there is nothing sexier than a man who can expertly lead you in a smooth salsa dance. The dance in itself is sexy, stylized and fun. I am not a great salsa dancer by ANY means, and I tend to force a lead, but a good/take charge partner will always take you in the right direction and tend teach you something along the way. David is one of those guys to learn that from. He started us off with front-to-back, side-to-side steps and a basic turn (my +1 had ZERO salsa experience prior to this lesson and is probably one of the whitest white guys ever, by the way). David worked with the other more seasoned attendees on an individual basis where needed while me and +1 practiced our basic moves. He would then come back to us to refine the work we were doing and reminding us to keep the 'quick-quick-slow' tempo. The class was an hour and went by surprisingly fast. I would suggest for any ladies to wear low-to-mid height heels, if not flats. Mine were a 3"+ mistake. I looked good, but had foot pain by the end of the class. David was very encouraging in the male AND female aspect and quite a nice overall. He emphasized practice, practice, practice and was not overbearing in the least in his suggestion to come back for future lessons and getting the great 1/2 off deal they had going on. If I had lived in the area I definitely would have purchased the 5 lessons to continue. The Spartan Dance Center also has another instructor on another night that teaches the intermediate/advanced salsa class when you feel ready to upgrade your moves. If you and your significant other (or a few girlfriends) want to try something new, beginner Salsa lessons are a fun and interesting thing to attempt. Even if just to try it out with a single drop-in class to see how you like it before you commit to a package. Both beginner and advanced classes are held on a weekly basis. I left off one star because of the slight smell of sweat in the air in the studio. Granted, there was a pilates or yoga class going on prior to when we arrived, but a small touch of Febreze would have been nice. The class started on time and the lady at the registration desk was very friendly. The SDC is located in a strip mall right next to a pizza place (Marco's, I believe). It's easy to pass, especially in the evening. There is a small waiting area upon walk-in divided by a small wall of cubbies to wait at while the prior class finishes up. We did not notice this from the outside and just waited in the car when we didn't need to. You can also learn more about salsa socials and other lessons in the Detroit Metro area and beyond by looking up YA Salsa on the web to put those new, sexy moves into practice.
