First time visiting Colonial Williamsburg (kinda' as I've been to William & Mary for a football game, and had absolutely no idea I was here! lol This trip, the hubs and I stopped by specifically to explore Colonial Williamsburg and a stay at the Lodge was our choice. The property is great with nice food and beverage options. We dined at both onsite restaurants-- Sweet Tea & Barley for dinner, as well as Traditions for breakfast and enjoyed both. We stayed in the Tyler Guesthouse which I was told was more modern. Our room was nice, clean, and had an outdoor patio with seating. The staff was kind, shouts out to Phoebe who checked me in, was quite knowledgeable, and gave a great rundown of all of the offerings on site as well as details on the included free tickets to visit Colonial Williamsburg (the living museum). We took full advantage of everything. All in all, a great stay and I'd absolutely revisit the property. Cheers! read more

Excellent location, amazing experience, right next to Colonial Williamsburg & Merchant Square. Can almost imagine what it might have been like to live in the colonial village, especially if you go for early morning/late evening strolls through the village when there are not many other tourists around. Location location location! If you're staying here to visit Colonial Williamsburg then you cannot go wrong choosing this hotel. Honestly it has everything you need for a great vacation. Indoor and outdoor pools. Restaurants and a bar. 5 minute walk and you're in the middle of Colonial Williamsburg. Parking garage is $30 a day but parking sucks in Williamsburg so it's well worth the daily fee. We stayed in Tazewell Hall where all the rooms have a balcony and you can use the same elevator to your room to access the garage so super convenient. Is the hotel dated? Yes it is but not in anyway that would stop me from coming back or questioning the value of the accommodations. My wife used the spa and said it was very nice. We did not get to use the pools but I saw lots of families enjoying the outdoor pool when we were having lunch next door at the golf club. I would stay here again without thinking twice! read more

I haven't stayed in the Lodge, so I can't speak to the room quality, but I have visited twice recently for two different events. The first was Day 2 of the inaugural Virginia Cat Festival, which took place in their downstairs conference and event rooms. The venue was great and served its purpose well. I appreciated that the bathrooms were clean and orderly too in addition to the general cleanliness of the hotel. I felt very welcomed. I also visited last month for their Gingerbread House unveiling. It was pretty cool though not a huge wow factor. It'd be cute for kids, as Santa and Mrs. Claus were on-site too. The grounds at the Lodge are great, and my mom purchased some trinkets at their gift shop. The location can't be beat. It's right near Duke of Gloucester/the heart of Colonial Williamsburg. Parking across the street does have an associated fee but you can pay on a phone app. read more

Beds and bathrooms were clean. The plumber who fixed the stepped up tub was expedient and friendly. For the high price, I would expect a microwave and freezer with refrigerator as well as a continental breakfast. The restaurant had good food but prices were ridiculously high. read more

I stayed here a few nights for a conference. My room was in South hall -- which I enjoyed. The room was great, clean, and I love the wooden floors. The front desk staff was super friendly. The conference side of the lodge was good, aside from there being many conferences at the same time. That meant parking was a nightmare. It was also a bit cold for my liking, glad I brought a sweater. But the layout worked well, the catering was yummy and the tech worked. read more

Erica was great at the reservation desk. This was a large conference, and rooms had already been assigned. Erica very graciously satisfied my request (for medical reasons) to be reassigned to a room closer to the center of all the meetings. Great, caring service -- and much appreciated. ALSO Robert (who has worked there 40 years!) was an excellent porter who carried lifted all my bags, trollied them to the room and placed them where they would be comfortably accesible to me. This was our second time staying here for Thanksgiving and it was great. It is pet friendly, and I highly recommend you call and speak to the hotel directly because only very specific rooms are pet friendly, and you don't want any mishaps when you arrive. We did mobile check in and upon arriving we picked up our keys with no issues. Parking is right below the pet friendly rooms, and the hotel is in walking distance to everything Colonial Williamsburg. The traditional restaurant onsite is great for breakfast. The hotel fits the colonial style so don't expect a modern hotel. Highly recommend as the hotel staff is friendly, the rooms are clean, and it's a great location to both colonial Williamsburg and Busch gardens. read more

Came here for work as there was a conference on site. They have a pretty good sized conference room area on property. The property itself it expansive as well, with the buildings being only a couple stories high, so everything is spread out. Landscaping is decent, so walking from one place to another can be enjoyable. Parking is tight... they have multiple parking areas around the property, but they're kind of tight. There are plenty of cross walks and safe areas to walk and cross the various roads that run through the property. Checking in was smooth and service was decent during check in. They were fully packed when I arrived, around 10AM, so they took my number and prioritized getting my room done and sure enough, they called me less than an hour later telling me my room was ready - awesome! First impressions of the Tyler House and my room was that this building is outdated and needs to be refurbished. The main door to the main house was stuck due to humidity or something and the door scanner wouldn't work using the card key, you had to use the handicap scanner. Once inside, there are stained chairs in the lower foyer. The carpet looks worn, but isn't ripped. The room itself looked decent, but when you look at the furniture, etc you'll see warping, roughness and work areas from over-use, and even pealing/bubbling veneers. Definitely time to refurb this place! The room's bathroom was decent and looked nice. Hot water came quickly, which has been unique in my recent Marriott stays at other properties lately. But the shower area had black mold in various areas, but was very noticeable. I did like the soaps, they smelled great and as much as I stay in Marriott properties, it was nice to get away from the typical smells of the Marriott soaps. Housekeeping did a decent job taking care of the room... when I got back to my room after a long day of work, it looked totally refreshed, like it was ready for a new set of guests! They cleaned the sink and even put a wash cloth out to put all my toiletries on - I love this touch, typically only in the Luxury, St. Regis, and Ritz properties. My sleep was comfy. The TV channel selection was great, but there was no sleep timer, so I couldn't use the TV to fall asleep. There are two restaurants and one café on the property. Plenty of conference space here. Overall, it's a decent property, but definitely needs to be updated. I'd return, but I'd hope for a refurbished room if I came back, if they have any. read more

First impressions: gorgeous lobby and had great lobby staff! Upon entering the room it was very clean, but the TV and lights were on for some reason. The internet was hit or miss, cuts out randomly. The mini fridge was ok, there was a coffee pot/tea. To get a microwave in your room you have to request it and pay 30$ fee. The cleaning staff was there, but took a long time to get to our room, however, they were really nice. Overall, it was great, but for the price point we expected more than what we received, felt like we were getting nickeled and dimed. I wouldn't say we stayed here because we had reservations here and they would not fulfill them. if you have reservations its just a false promise to have you a room. They moved us to a different hotel that is not even close to the convention that we are here for and rooms were gross with bugs. Today we asked if they had rooms for us and was told no because they have others coming in today. So you don't have rooms for us but do for others? This could be a great property. It is closer to a 2 or 3 star hotel. The staff was very friendly and our housekeepers were excellent. The location is fabulous.... It's just NOT a high end hotel at all. We had an upgraded room and, although very clean, it was not luxury, deluxe or anywhere near $600 a night. Great hotel and location right in the heart of Williamsburg, within walking distance from the famous Merchants Square. This hotel had several different buildings, each with their own exterior courtyard and interior sitting areas. The beds were comfortable, noise level minimal, and room temperature nice and cool. I loved the feeling of stepping back in time into idyllic and charming Williamsburg which made my family's entire stay relaxing and pleasant. One complaint I have with the hotel is their EV charging amenity. They advertised themselves as having complementary EV charging, but really there was only 1 functional EV charger across the street from the main lodge. There are other "EV charging spots" in the garage but these spots only had electrical outlets for you to plug your own charger in. This to me wasn't really "EV charging," and the low charging speed from the outlets meant you'd have to park and charge continuously for a full day or 2 for you to fully charge your car. Still, this was a fantastic hotel stay and my family and I really enjoyed it. We look forward to coming back again in the near future! read more

My wife and I stayed here two nights, while visiting Colonial Williamsburg, and enjoyed our visit. Our room was comfortable, spacious, clean, had good linens, and the bed was excellent (which has been true for most Marriott properties we have stayed in). The service was friendly and efficient, including the hotel's shuttle service (which dropped us off at some of the local attractions, and promptly picked us up when we called). Arrived at the hotel after a long drive. We checked in and got to our room which was very dark and dingy. Smelled of a nursing home. We immediately checked out and advised them of this. Furniture was old and beds were hard. It was a gloomy place. We were charged for the night even though we were not satisfied with our room and had to relocate another hotel. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. Please beware and look elsewhere read more

My family has been visiting Colonial Williamsburg since the 1940s (literally). We are now 4 generations in and all of us LOVE returning every year. We have been fortunate enough to stay at the Lodge (or historic homes) most visits. The Lodge remains iconic and a WONDERFUL hotel. All the rooms are spacious and well appointed. The beds are comfortable, the rooms spotlessly clean and the public areas of the hotel are equally spacious and lovely. Over the years The Lodge has maintained it's beautiful, welcoming aesthetic-- it is a classic that will never go out of style. The staff are all professional, friendly and helpful. read more

I visited Williamsburg recently with two friends and one of my friends chose Williamsburg Lodge for our stay. The hotel is easy to find and a large property. The parking is kind of a pain, you need to use a garage around the corner and it seems like it could be larger and more convenient but it does the job. There are multiple parts and areas of the hotel so make sure you are paying attention to the map they give you. There are multiple stores and restaurants on site. The check in was fine and the staff nice. The rooms are large and clean and the hotel is within walking distance to pretty much all of the activities. read more

Booked a standard king- was given a queen. My son and friends booked a 2 queen room and were given a queen with a roll away. Location great. Staff friendly. Room pics are VERY misleading. Noisy. When Colonial Williamsburg sold the Lodge to Autograph by Marriott, much of the colonial charm and history was stripped from the property. When my family visited in late April/early May, we were so happy to see much of the old furniture returned to the lobby as well as artifacts and recreations on display. It's closer to the Williamsburg Lodge we know and love. The staff throughout is wonderful with a special shout out to Leona and Shannon at Sweet Tea & Barley. They're like family to us. read more

Aside from the main lobby, the rest of the buildings are outdated and poorly maintained. During our stay, smoke from a fireplace two floors above our room filled our space. Management refused to relocate us, forcing us to leave the balcony door open for hours in 30-degree weather to air out the room. read more

Despite having deep family roots in the Richmond area on one side of the family and a sweet cousin and his lovely wife living there on the other side, this was our first time visiting. This hotel was the perfect place to stay. The rooms were decorated nicely (and very clean), the staff was super friendly and the grounds were really pretty. Stayed here with wife over night during memorial day. It was a great location for Colonial williamsburg. Everything is walking distance. The hotel has a great colonial feel while maintaining the class. There is gift shops, convenient shops, and restaurants within the hotel. The concierge can connect you with multiple restaurants and other excursions in the area. There are local shuttles to take you around the area. Staff is helpful and very polite. I really want to love this place, but it's not the best Marriott hotel chain hotel. Pros: indoor/outdoor pools, large gym facility, provided towel and water bottle upon entrance, friendly staff, pet friendly stay, close stay and walking distance to Williamsburg attractions. Cons: dirty carpet, small min fridge that stays barely cold, old bathrooms with cracked tiles, no sofa couch, no complimentary lounge drinks like other Marriott chains, breakfast is for purchase and selection doesn't seem too appetizing. I would recommend to stay here only if you're planning to do the Williamsburg attractions and if you have a pet. Otherwise, go elsewhere. read more

The Williamsburg Lodge is a classic and boutique hotel located in a prime location in colonial Williamsburg The hotel has been added onto over the years and some of the styles of the architecture or a little disjointed but still in the overall spirit and style of brick construction My room this time featured a large king room with the fireplace and covered patio off the second floor that included comfortable rocking chairs This is a very large complex with multiple buildings and covered walkways to get back to the main lodge and my building actually featured a parking deck as part of the complex I have stayed here several times and will be back again read more

I made reservations months ahead of our actual stay. I will say this process was frustrating. We signed up for A Weekend to Remember which gives us a discount for the rooms. Upon reserving spots for this seminar, I was unable to book rooms online. I had to physically call the front desk of this hotel to make reservations. Fast forward months to November. I had the opportunity to check in online the day of, which I did, and it made our check in process that much faster and easier. I was disappointed that we had 2 queen sized beds instead of 1 king which is what I requested. The room was clean. The bathroom was clean and had all the items we needed. I wish I could say the shower was wonderful but it was not. It was horrible. The drain was the size of a half dollar that did not drain well. The shower pressure was almost non existent. There was no pressure. I almost called the front desk to alert someone but I figured we were only staying two nights that we would suck it up. The lodge itself was beautiful. It was very spacious and had a lot of ballrooms to hold whatever gathering they were hosting, but the bathroom in the rooms were not good. Will we stay here again if in the area? probably not. I don't regret staying here, just chalk it up to a "one and done" kind of thing. read more

The Williamsburg Lodge has a beautiful main building and great proximity to Colonial Williamsburg. The Lodge is broken into specific guests houses. We had a negative experience in Tazewell Hall, which is the outermost building and poorly maintained. The room had a stench, the bathroom sink was mostly clogged, and the floors were stained. The elevator (one of two were operational) featured chipped paint and buttons that do not light. We love the Lodge itself and do not demand perfection, but Tazewell Hall just is not worth the cost. read more

Marriot Autograph Hotel Williamsburg VA - NOT I writing to let you know how utterly disappointed I am in this hotel. We came here for my 65th birthday and instead of having a relaxing 3 days we had a stressful experience. Just walking into the hotel each day and afternoon brought on anxiety of "what will be wrong now". I cannot tell you how disappointed I am with this experience and the service provided. ISSUES: Door gap over 2 inches - safety issue what if there is a fire in the hall all that smoke would come I room! Had to put pillows there to block light at night. Use of power strips with cords hanging all over is not safe at all. Bed was broken and had to move rooms New room had 3 lights burned out called and still not replaced after 18 hours after 20 hours they relaxed 1 light in dirt area but not the two burned out in bathroom. Thermostat falling off the wall, very unsafe Cleaning staff left trash bag on counter in bathroom Cleaning staff left dirty washcloth on the bathroom floor. Elevator dirty Staff except for one server tech had little concern at all Breakfast that cost $25 each, was warm at best, not hot at all, cereal was old and stall Electric Vehicle parking in garage has 4 spots but only one is market so gas cars are taking the spots that we needed People smoking in the courtyard requiring guest to walk and be exposed Your concierge/guest service was great! There was at least one other person we heard that had to change rooms. read more

Wonderful property. Staff were excellent, and the rooms were clean, spacious and well appointed. You cannot beat the proximity to the major historic attractions of Colonial Williamsburg. Only detractor was a lack of communication between the property and their restaurants where the servers were not trained on the packages being sold and every meal that was included in our package was a debate at the table requiring me to have to call the front desk. Awkward and off putting in front of my companions, to say the least. read more

The hotel staff is lovely and the location is great, but the rooms are not so great (or at least the room we stayed in). We had a flashing light from the smoke detector keeping us up all night (previously covered by duct tape) and found something that looked like blood from a previous guest in the shower drain area...we only stayed one night, otherwise we would've asked to move rooms. I mentioned these issues at check out and they didn't do anything except say they'd take a look. Unfortunately, we'll be staying elsewhere next time. read more

Each year, the pastry chefs at Williamsburg Lodge create an elaborate gingerbread village for their guests to enjoy. The details on this one were so impressive. The hotel is composed of several buildings. They have bellhops to handle your luggage. The hotel is nicely decorated and the beds are comfortable. We love The Lodge! Our son attended W&M and we stayed here whenever we had the chance to do so. Walking distance to CW and campus. Nicely appointed rooms, pretty lobby and a nice bar. We Enjoyed many meals in the restaurant and relaxed at the pool. For graduation, we got one of the rooms on the patio level and it was perfect for our large group to be together throughout the weekend. The staff was very accommodating and helpful setting up a family dinner on the patio one of the nights during graduation weekend. Heading back this weekend for a little R&R! read more

We made reservations at Traditions in the Williamsburg Lodge since they had a Sunday brunch which looked fantastic on their advertising. When we get there Oct 1, no Sunday brunch. Just plain order off the menu breakfast. Having driver over an hour for something special, let's say we were disappointed. The Bananas Foster Pancakes were yummy. The steak and eggs were solid. The Biscuit and Gravy were bland but passable. $10 for a side of bacon. The Chicken and Waffles overcooked. But we had a lovely day in Williamsburg read more

Negatives included lacking the little things (bathrobes, toiletries not in bottles in shower), for the price it felt a little too much like typical Marriott.
