The course are challenging and fun for all ages, and the whole location's pirate theme is pleasant. No matter how many times you play these courses, or at what time of day, it always is enjoyable. They owner and staff have really made it worth the time and money to go enjoy 18 holes of mini golf. They also have created a cell phone based score card, which makes it significantly easier to keep track of your strokes. Pirate's Cove is a great place to spend a beautiful day with friends and/or family! It's not exactly cheap but it's extremely well-themed and pleasantly staffed. My parents and I had wanted to try mini golf here for a while and finally made it over recently. There was plenty of parking in their private lot and we did not have to wait for service despite it being a pretty Sunday. The woman administering the shop was very pleasant and walked us through the process of getting started. At $13.50 an adult, this is not a cheap experience but it is a nice one. There are two courses to choose from: easy or hard, which is another way of saying "for kids exclusively" and "for mixed groups/adults". We opted for the hard course and it was both fun and challenging with plenty of hazards and interesting angles to keep you thinking strategically. The decor and walking areas add to the experience with their charm, particularly the beautiful (artificial) blue water pouring down from their waterfall. There are a few fun photo opportunities too, don't miss them! The entire course took a little over an hour to do, and we enjoyed it thoroughly. If you're looking for a fun date idea or a way to enjoy a warm day with your family, I highly recommend it! Overall: 4.5 stars ---- Pros: - Very fun course with plenty of challenge. - Excellent friendly service. - The course is well-taken care of with no trash around. - Plenty of easy parking. Staff super super nice. They are so cool I went back to chat at the end just to learn about this mini golf course. This place is 24 years old. The first owner let it get in bad shape but sold it. The second owners have put all new greens and improved with a little of really cool props. Water features are my favorite and several levels. Walking up and down and into caves. This was a very fun 1.5 hour round of mini golf for the two of us. They have two courses, both are 18 holes each. You can buy them together cheaper than you can buy them separately. We purchased the more difficult experience, the Blackbeard course. We parked in their own lot and were greeted by a kind lady who took an interest in us and our vacation week. She helped us get started and handed us our clubs and golf balls. The course is well decorated, and each hole has a fun fact about Blackbeard. Throughout the course, you learn more and more about his life, chronologically. It was very clean and well organized, you knew where to go each time for the next hole. It's all outside, and we had good weather. I don't remember if there was much shade, but there is a part where you go under a waterfall. We had no one behind us, as we came on a Monday afternoon, so we spent some extra time on one hole with a steep incline because it was fun to launch the ball. There is a water feature, so you might lose your ball in the water, but we were able to retrieve it ourselves easily. They played some odd music, some was Disney or pirate-themed, and then at the end, it was the kind of music you hear at a Mexican restaurant. It made me laugh. When finished, the last hole collects your ball and you simply turn in your clubs to the little house where you check-in. I would definitely recommend this location, as it was fun, clean, and entertaining. I'm glad we stopped by during our vacation. read more

One day I saw a commercial for the new Mario Golf game coming out soon and started thinking about some of the best mini golf places I had went to as a kid. Immediately I was thinking about some of the pirate, dinosaur, and themed ones near Myrtle Beach, and wondered if they existed where I live in Richmond. Turns out, this Pirate's Cove isn't that far from Richmond and is perfect for a day trip to Williamsburg! There's two 18 hole courses, so if you have the stamina and interest you can spend an hour or two playing 36 holes. The layout of the holes bring you up stairs, through caves, around water, it's nice. The holes themselves aren't overly challenging but the greens are in great condition. There are facts about pirates and some pirate themed music (which, okay, after an hour or two of hearing the same song repeat for the 4th time, might not be a positive, but I think they mixed it up partway through). There's a definite family fun pirate theme to the whole place, and that appeal alone is enough to warrant a visit. Not too expensive, not too busy, nice places to sit and rest between holes, far as mini golf comes, especially for the area, it's one of the best for sure! read more

There are 2 courses, same price one is easier than the other, but the easy one is small child easy, so don't worry about being rusty at golf and taking the more advanced course. Every hole has a little Blackbeard fact, there's some nice variety of set ups, and they vary in challenge. Also as it turns out, the balls float as I saw many people learn first hand. It's a fun small group (6 or less) activity, and on a nice weekend, you'll be a bit backed up with people going ahead of you, so if you can come early or a weeknight,you may have less of a wait.If you do wait, there are some decent places for photo ops as you wait for the next hole to clear up. read more

This is perhaps the best mini-gold course I've found in the area. Easily 4 1/2 stars. There are two courses, one a bit more challenging than the other. The greens are well kept and the course in general seems well managed. Someone probably needs to feed their fish a bit more though -- they definitely were trying hard to get our attention. The bathrooms were clean (and air conditioned!) which was a nice change from most of these kinds of places. For mini golf, it IS a little pricey -- You'll pay $10 per adult and $9 per child per round. If you add a round after you've played one, the price goes down to $6. So the price is really what's keeping me from a 5 star here. We played both courses and were in and out in less than an hour -- so that's a pricey hour if you've got multiple adults and kids playing. read more

Pricing for an adult is around 9.95 but there are coupon that you can use to take a dollar off the total pricing. In the summer time when it is hot & humid there is not alot of shade and you will be sweaty when you finish the 18 hole. Also it can get busy at times so when playing you might have people behind you rushing you to play faster. All in all I highly recommend this place if you are in the Williamberg area. read more

I visited this mini golf course while vacationing in the area and this course was epic It is a very well made mini-golf course that is very interactive. The place has 2 18-hole courses. The holes are fun and interactive and the place is clean. It can get a little warm in the sun, but not uncomfortable though, there is a decent amount of shade on this course. As I am sure you can tell from the name this is a pirate themed course build into and around a hill and waterfalls. both courses have you going up and down and inside the the hill. The theming is well done, but not as over the top as some pirate mini golf courses I have been to. Each hole has a pirate fact, so that's a good time. The only thing I would change is I have about the theming is, I wish in this location that it would have been revolution themed. Great staff. If you don't know how to play or keep score these guys will go out of the way to show you and go the extra mile to make sure you have a great experience. The cost is on the high side, but not unreasonable for a mini golf course of this quality. You get a discount if you play both courses at the same time. The only complaint, and this is why I can't give it 5 stars, is the tee boxes suck, for some reason a bunch of them are not flat so you ball tends to roll away from you, down the steps, or any other place then where you are trying to hit it from. I find that a major oversight for a place of this otherwise quality. Overall a great course to play some mini golf at and if you are looking for something to do in the area I highly recommend coming here to get your golf on. read more

This is a really fun and affordable mini golf venue with two courses (one easy and one hard), or you can do both for a discounted rate. Each has 18 holes. $9.50/person for the individual courses, or $16 for both. The course is visible from the main road and looked enticing! There is a lot of parking! I should mention that although this might not be a rare sighting for this area (we were visiting), there was a truck with a huge Confederate flag parked in the parking lot and the words REDNECK sprawled across the front windshield. The business can't control that, of course, but it did give me some pause. The line on a Monday night was really long, but the groups were moving seamlessly without much of an inconvenient backup. The customer service was very good. A friendly employee-in-training named Cullen gave us prices, answered our questions satisfactorily, rang my credit card, did not rush the transaction, and offered a receipt and score card. He was genuine and made eye contact. The interaction was very pleasant. The different sizes of putters and a variety of colorful balls were on the counter. There is a four-person cap per party, although the group in front of us was a group of six with very young kids who took quite some time to take their turns and focus. The ambiance is awesome--waterfalls everywhere, the course goes up some stairs, inside a cave, down stairs, around other waterfalls, and snakes around. There are statues of pirates throughout and other decor that makes the experience more interesting. Everything was easy to locate and well marked--where to start, how to proceed to the next course, what hole number it was, several warning signs to avoid entering the waterfall area and not engaging in horseplay, the restrooms, and the putter drop-off area. The front desk employee Cullen also acknowledged us as we dropped off our putters; he asked how our game went and told us to have a good night. The course itself is very nice and we would definitely go back. The disappointing part was when we walked in yesterday,FATHERS DAY, and asked if there were any specials or coupons. We were told no. We had 4 adults and 3 children. Two of whom were fathers. I paid before everyone came and was told by my daughter later that the website said FATHERS WERE FREE today. Afterwards I brought this up to the two young men in the booth and they said that was true but they were not allowed to mention it. Only if the family mentioned they saw it on the website. We have been craving some mini golfing for many years. When we saw this location we just had to go, after dinner. The price was nice for our family of four. We chose the one side and actually really enjoyed it and had some interesting holes to golf. It was very well lit and very clean. They really made sure that people continue to wear their mask even though we were outside and I thoroughly appreciate that. There was a little cave that you could go in where there was a hole there as well. The kids enjoyed the golf course all together. I'm sure we will return. The parking lot has a lot of spaces. Hubby and I had a lot of fun even in the rain! The woman running the place was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the course as well as the black beard pirate facts shared at each hole. The water was relatively clear with lots of large goldfish enjoying the rain as well. One hole has a pirate figure climbing on the rocks -- I noticed in the corner of my eye a couple of times and was startled each time until I again realized it was pirate figure, perhaps trying to escape a capture... My folks love playing putt putt and so we set off on an adventure to find a place to play. Initially we were going to go to Catfish Cove, but it looked like putt putt for a kid - the length of their entire course being 2 car lengths, so we reversed and decided to do Pirate's Cove instead...well worth it. On the day we visited, we did not pay attention to the weather and thought that we could survive it. Parking was plenty - who in their right mind would putt on such a hot day - obviously we were not, but proceeded along anyways. Options given were an easy course for $8.95 (Captain's Course), a hard course for $8.95 (Blackbeard's Challenge) or both for $15.50. We opted for the easy course and it was easy as we were getting our golf balls in the holes in just 2 or 3 shots. We had literally just started our game, but due to the severe heat, we had to come back when it was cooler. The weather had won in this case (Weather - 1; Us - 0). When we continued our game later, we opted to do the harder course - this time we could breathe better in the weather even though the temps were still a little high. Hard it was...the game that is - there were hills and valleys, curves and rocks and even a waterfall for distraction, but this time, we enjoyed the game better in a much cooler and relaxing atmosphere. I have to give kudos to Pirates Cove in giving us the opportunity to come back and being able to survive (Weather - 0; Us - 1). read more

We didn't even realize it was in Williamsburg until we were looking up another place on Yelp and it happen to pop up as places we may be interested in. Not only is there a cave you golf thru but there is multiple levels with rock stairs you climb to get to the top with beautiful waterfalls. There are 2 different courses one easier and one harder and you choose to play either just 1 of those courses or all 36 holes. Unfortunately it started raining halfway thru so we had to hurry and finish!! The kids got a really cute grab bag at the end with a little pirates flag,eye patch,whistle,coin,and ring. Pricing was good, the holes were well maintained but the decor is dated. There's a noticeable amount of damage to decorations and there's an unpleasant odor from the water.in some places. Security is very lax, they watched the guys ahead of us laying on the green and shooting like it's billiards... the holes themselves are unoriginal. There's 4 kinds of holes. Little hills between you and the hole, a slope on the course, the cliche design of putting the hole on a raised plateau and last but not least, a long narrow green where the hole is *just* out of view. Quality mini-golfing. They have two courses you can take - the hard or the easy. We of course opted for the "hard" which wasn't really that difficult so I'm wondering how EASY the other one was. My family is pretty competitive...so trust me when I say there was a lot of smack talk the whole way through. Mom was the only one to get a hole in one...but ultimately came in last. HAH!
