Very nice and helpful vet, but crummy and rude front desk. Sorry, but I don't deal with rude front desks- no matter how good the professional that they're working for might be. We scheduled spaying and microchipping to be done at the same time. I was very clear- both at the time that I initially scheduled, and also last week when I followed up to ask about drop off time- that the appointment was for both spaying and chipping. My husband went to pick her up and when he asked about the microchipping they told him that she was only spayed. When we expressed confusion and disappointment about it, the woman behind the desk was fantastically rude and unhelpful. Listen- I don't care if this was your fault or someone else who works there- the thing to say is, "Listen, I'm sorry, it looks like there was some of miscommunication, but here's what we can do...." Instead, she essentially said, "Tough titties, not my fault." It was important to me that my puppy not have a painful and negative association with the vet, so while it wasn't the end of the world, and the vet was able to place the chip while she was awake- it was certainly not something that should have happened in the first place- because I did what was within MY power- which was to clearly state TWICE what the appointment was for. They dropped the ball, not me, and it would have been nice to have an appropriate response from the front desk. Mistakes happen, and I'm a forgiving sort, so this review isn't about the mistake itself, but rather the response to the mistake. read more

Please do not go to this vet if you care about your animals. The vet has no sympathy for animals , we pay so much money for short talk, no heart, no answers appointments . Vets should have a helping and caring heart when they see their patients. Unfortunately , this vet and the front staff , are just not in the right field . Very rough with my dog because he was upset and was intentionally being rough on him because of a conversation we had right before. I really wish these people had costumer service and kindness, but they simply do not. In the end, they will start to see that their actions and their flow of income are directly correlated, so they must change for any hope of having a good business. Just don't go here. read more

Been going to this clinic for years. Dr. McCary has always taken excellent care of our pets. He is the most knowledgeable and compassionate vet we have ever taken our pets to. He saved our pet duck that was attacked by a dog in the 90's and he saved our 11 year old cat after he snuck into the dryer before it was turned on. We were not sure Eponine would make it, but he lived another good 10 years after that. Our family will never go to anyone else unless Dr. McCary retires. My husband and I both noticed Dr. McCary's eyes light up when he examined one of our dogs, in a manner that looks like they are non- verbally communicating with each other. I have never felt rushed and never left with a question about anything. He takes his time and is very patient and kind. I came to this vet clinic due to all the five star reviews I was seeing online. I was looking for a vet who would really take the time to get to know my dog and make him feel comfortable. From the moment I walked in it was a very welcoming environment, small and quaint. The staff was wonderful and very friendly and I never once felt rushed. I started using this clinic after I called around for cremation for my daughter's elderly dog. They were so comforting and much more affordable then other places. After hours of reading reviews and checking Nextdoor for references of where to take our one year old rescue/adopted dog we settled when one reviewer mentioned Williamsburg Animal Clinic rates to be most in line with CAPS without a 3 week wait and with an actual Vet (Aggie). They were excellent on the phone to explain potential charges and not pushy on heart worm and flea meds. (Although we purchased both from them) and got us an appointment for the next day for just annual check up. Dr. Brad was very nice and took his time to not make us feel rushed and never made me feel silly asking all my questions, as a new pet owner. Me, my husband, and our mini schnauzer mix named Rigby LOVE this veterinary clinic! Dr. McCary is kind, easy going, laid back, and very knowledgeable. It's easy getting an appointment here, and it never takes too long every time we've visited. The staff here are also very sweet! This is our first dog so I can't give you a cost comparison to other vets, but we like it! My parents take all three of their dogs here as well and are the ones who recommended this vet office to us. I can't say enough nice things about Dr. McCary and his staff! From extreme compassion when we lost a pet to simple understanding when we needed to reschedule, they are all fantastic. A small practice means people who know you and your animals - I never had to explain anything since they always knew who I was (and often why I was calling). I went there because I read so many good reviews on this place. I must have went on a really bad day. The exam itself was $50 and all he did was run his hands threw my dogs hair for not even 2 minutes. No checking of his teeth or bones. Yeah they weighed him. But i would have barely paid $5 for that. Love this vet! Dr. McCary is great with all 4 of my animals and very informative. I almost always have questions and he is very patient in providing me answers in laymens terms and a few possible routes to correct a problem (if there is one). One of my dogs has had a reaction to his yearly meds and the staff always take special care to be sure he is safe. My other dog isn't the nicest and usually growls around strangers, but Dr. McCary can vaccinate him, examine him and perform a variety of procedures without even a mussel. The staff is always polite and easy to work with too. I can't say enough good things about this place. read more
