Let me start by saying that in business, the most important things to me are customer service and…read morethe quality of goods/services provided. I commissioned a trophy to be made by these guys about two months ago and was told it would be ready in a couple of weeks. The design was essentially a trophy base with a mount to fit a glove. I was quoted $50 for a basic trophy, and about $75 for a more customized trophy for a "specialized mount for the glove." After a month, I hadn't heard from them yet, so I phoned in. They told me they hadn't even started on it yet, and had questions on some of the specifications. Doesn't necessarily make me feel like the most important customer. Customer service sin #1. They ask me to come in to make a few decisions about the trophy, so I head in. I give them more specs, and they say it should be ready in another 2 or 3 weeks. Great. Again, about a month goes by and I have to reach out because I haven't heard back from them yet. They say it's not done yet, but they will rush to get it done. When I go to pick it up, they charge me $145, almost double the $75 quote. Overpromise and underdeliver. Customer service sin #2. Overcharge by 2 times the quoted amount? Customer service sin #3. When I challenge the charged price the manager comes out and says "What, you don't want to pay for your trophy?" I explain to him my hesitation due to the cost discrepancy. Without even looking me in the eye, he just says "Fine, what do you wanna pay?" I tell him I'd pay $85, and he says "Fine," takes my payment, and walks away without saying thank you. Rudeness. Customer service sin #4. The trophy base looks great, but the specialized portion they "made" for the gauntlet is just a square block that the gauntlet doesn't even fit on. They wanted to charge me double for... this? Customer service sin #5. Respect yourself by going elsewhere, 'cause in my experience, they won't respect you here.

I had an old but precious brass Zippo lighter I wanted engraved. It had to be special. AND it had…read moreto be onsite. Of all the typical places, i.e. jewelry stores, trophy engravers, etc. This is what I encountered (one or more of these). 1. It'd have to be sent out. 2. It was lazer engraved (a very shallow etch that burns changing the color of letters to black). I have nothing against this per se but it's not what I wanted on the lighter. 3. Fonts are very limited selection. I wanted more unique custom. 4. I wanted the placement very different then horizontal/vertical. I drove by the place that yelp had listed and I found out that Dave has moved. I finally go old school and CALL. I left a message and he got right back to me. After telling him what I had and what I wanted he told me the charge is $6 a letter $60 min very quickly because a lot of locals hang up on him. So basically you're getting 10 letters for $60 and then it goes $6 per. He gave me his resume over the phone which is quite impressive- and the method he uses to engrave- old school with 20th century modernity. He takes clients locally by appt only. The bulk of his business is people shipping THEIR precious items to him. He was very accommodating in arranging an appt for me given my rush circumstance- he had a heart. When I arrived at his workshop he apologized for state of his workshop- Martha Stewart does not live there. No, it's what you'd expect from a real tradesman. We sit at his desk while he analyzes the lighter and gives me a book of scripts to peruse. One caught my eye but he says that will be extra (shading and such), but I didn't want that one EXACTLY. I came up with an amalgamation via the book and my description. It was font ala carte :-) We settled in for the lengthy precision placement of the characters. It wasn't traditional by any stretch. I specifically wanted a character to be halved on the lid and the body. Preparation was the bulk of the time. Then the actual engraving takes place. He loves to talk about his craft and you can tell he absolutely takes great pride in his finished one of a kind pieces. So when the lighter was finished, I was absolutely blown away by the beauty. It had the perfect amount of depth to compliment it's age, no puddles or pooling. It is gorgeous. When I presented it to my husband (who could find fault with Michelangelo). He loved it. Told me like 5x over days randomly as he used it. Even remarked that his pistols (engraved ones) look like a 5 yo did them. Which Dave does those too. His prices are NOT cheap, take your cheap stuff to the stock guys. His is the kind you take your priceless, heirloom or sentimental items to. He does odd shaped items, scenes and anything you can imagine. His facebook name IMHO is not befitting the scope of his offerings. www.facebook.com/DuckBandWeddingRings

All of the knifes are displayed and you can easily pick them up look at them. The Bad Upon walking into Timber Knifes no one said hello welcome or can I help you find something. There was a couple of people talking and laughing towards the front door. My first thought was they were customers because they would have greeted us. BUT i was wrong its was a worker talking to his friend. So, fast forward 5 minutes and no one still has said anything to me or my family. Then walks in a local man I assume because every worker in the place greeted him. Even the ower of Timber Knifes comes out and talks to the guy about steel blades. So after some time the ower yells to a worker "hey sharpen this balde for free". Then the ower walks right past me and my family and does not say a word. So at this point i think forget this place and turn to leave. Then someone asked me if I needed help. This guy had a great knowledge of knifes and was freindly. Because of him I purchased a knife for me and my wife. Because of him its 3 stars and not 0. I really and truly think because we are not locals from Heber City the ower and his sales team did not help us when we first walked in. So, if your from outside Heber City dont expect great customer service from Timber Knifes.
