I have been seeing Dr Filchak for 8 years now and have absolutely no complaints with him whatsoever. He is courteous, professional, and confident in his exam. However, since the sellout of the practice there have been changes in operations of the business that are concerning. There are repeated reminders sent to your email and text telling you your exam is due. The reminders are relentless in time and do not stop until you shout out to staff to remove them. The staff seem to lack a certain professionalism in the fitting of glasses and appear to be more concerned with telling one how good they look rather then checking on fit. When picking up glasses they no longer have you read anything to double check if they are appropriate for you and you are no longer given eye care washes via spray for cleaning. read more

This was my second time visiting this office and their service has been consistently fabulous. On this visit I went in to order and purchase a pair of glasses. Gail was terrific and helped me pick out a beautiful pair of glasses within my price range and that also looked great. I had one request which was for her to be completely honest with me when trying on the glasses and she stated true to my request. They got very busy while I was there but they attended to all their customers rather quickly and maintained a high level of customer service. A big plus is also their evening hours! read more

I'm busy and don't often write reviews but this was an amazing experience this morning. The phone manners of the reception staff was pitch perfect. The doctor was delightful, intelligent, and caring. Purchasing the glasses was fun and the patience of the staff was biblical. I am fortunate that I live in this town and can easily get all my eye care needs at Dr. Filchak. Dr Filchack was recommended to me by family and friends. However, when I set up my first appointment they said they take both Medicare and Connect Insurance. Everything went well and I didn't get billed. 3 months later, I needed an appointment for an eye infection and they charged me a copay and said they do not take the supplement insurance through Connect and that they never did. One time they take it, another time they do not. What gives??? Not very reliable on their office policies. WATCH OUT for their billing. read more

Dr. Filchak has been my optometrist for about 8 years. I would recommend him and his staff to anyone. Everyone is friendly, thorough and know's what they are doing. Dr. Filchak is excellent! I once had an odd incident where one lense in a set of glasses developed a crack. They checked with the manufacturer and quickly had a new pair of lenses delivered to the shop. A couple weeks later the same thing happened again. This time the manufacturer asked it I would agree to polycarbonate lenses and, if they could install the lens at their facility. Dr. Filchak's staff sent my frames to the lens manufacturer to have the new (3rd set) of lenses inserted. In about 10 days I had the glasses back and all was as it should be. They were terrific to deal with and I highly recommend them. read more

The receptionist was extremely rude and not willing to help at all. I broke my glasses and I was looking for advise on what to do. She gave me major attitude the moment she answered the phone and basically talked down to me the whole time. She wasn't willing on helping me in the situation at all and that's why I will never go to this eye doctor again. I asked if I could make an appointment and she snapped at me. Get better staff whose actually willing to help patience and not make them feel worse when they are in a sticky situation. read more

Bad experience today at this eye Dr.'s office. I simply wanted to replace one of the lenses in my eyeglasses, which broke when my cat jumped on them. I was told that the replacement lens may not match the undamaged lens. I wanted to know if it would be an obvious difference or if it would only be noticed if you looked closely. The staff told me they weren't sure and that if it was obvious and I was not happy, they WOULD NOT allow me to return them. That's fantastic customer service. I was floored. I have been taken care of much better in the past, so I was very surprised to be told that I would have to pay for something that i potentially might not be happy with. I will not go back. read more

I went to My Eye Dr in Southbury because of Dr Filchak's reputation. Unfortunately I only was there to get frames and lens and saw a CSR named Elizabetta. Stay away from her. She over-billed me and put extras on glasses that I told her I didn't want or never talked about. I specifically told her I did not want $80.00 for A/R. First she said since my insurance only paid for standard lens she said they were junk so I agreed to upgrade to the Deluxe, she billed me for Premium $40.00 extra. I told her I didn't want the A/R since I don't drive at night. We discussed this. Also the UV coating was never mentioned. Also she charged me $67.00 for Photochromatic whatever that is but was never mentioned. How dare she scam me like this. I never saw what I was paying for until I picked up my glasses and saw the invoice that I had to request!!!! Elizabetta called me and said my portion would be $190.00. The total for my glasses came to $604.00 My ins paid $200 for frames and $200.00 for lens. I will be calling the office, BBB and my insurance company. I am owed money. Susan Bot read more

The eye exam went well but it went downhill from there. When you go to pick out the frames they apply slick and high pressure sales tactics to get you to add on many upgrades. They don't explain what your options our they just add the upgrades without informing you of the additional cost. I felt scammed. When I questioned what I was being billed for the saleswomen was very rude. I'll never go back. read more

I recently had a bad eye infection, called the office and he was able to see me immediately. This was at 5:00 on a Friday. Following week, Sat after Christmas, discovered my contact lens lost in my eye, could not find it. Did not think the office would be open since no other Dr.'s office was open, but called at 8:30AM and was surprised they were and I was able to come right in. My lens somehow split in half in my eye and he was able to retrieve both pieces. This man has really been my savoir. The nicest man too! I would highly recommend Dr. Filchak! My whole family has been going to him for the last 12 years and I would never go elsewhere! read more

I went to Dr. Filchak's office on a Thursday evening. I did not have to wait long to be called in to the DR. They have hundreds of frames, so while waiting they give you a tray and tell you to have fun trying them all on. I went into see the Dr. He was super friendly and informative. After the Dr. I went in to see Nancy( who i believe is a tech) and she did testing of the eyes on me. PAINLESS! No blow of air and they have a machine that takes pictures of your eyes so you don't have to go through the whole gritty dilation process!!!! After we were done, we headed out to the frames, tried on the ones that I picked and Nancy was honest as ever and I APPRECIATED that so much because what I think might look nice, may make me look like a clown, so I was thankful for that. She ended up pulling 30+ frames, some I wouldn't even dare try on and made it so much fun to try on frames. I really got the full experience and felt that the frames we decided on were really the best for the shape of my face. I should add that the frame I chose wasn't close the ones I had picked out and I am so pleased with them. Nancy and the whole Thursday night team were so great! They were so great I waited till a Thursday to pick up my glasses once they came in so I could see the whole smiling happy gang! I am so glad I chose Dr. Filchak's office! read more
