Skillful acupuncture doctor who has relived my stiff muscle and pains. I found him this week through our school circle and saw him Thursday and Friday and then I will see him on Monday and Tues which happens to be his last day of 39 year practice in the US, April 22, 2025. I was lucky to find him finally but unlucky to lose him so soon. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Cai for well over 25 yrs. He helped me thru cancer treatments - I never missed a day of work - and has helped keep me out of back pain and tendinitis. I have recommended him to many people over the years who he has helped immensely. He's definitely a GOAT! read more

Dr cai is the best practitioner- miracle worker. Healed my emotional lock jaw as well as the ongoing regular injuries of being a martial artist and heavy mover. He is absolutely amazing read more

Dr. Cai is the best! I started going to him around 2005. When I have a running injury or ache, his treatments get me back on the road quickly. I ran my fastest New York Marathon in 3 years last year (2018) after making sure I received Dr. Cai's treatments 3 times the week prior to the marathon. Thank you, Dr. Cai! read more

i know him about 20 years. Very skilled, knowledgeable and warm person. Very reasonable price also. He doesn't speak much but he knows exactly what your problem is. You even don't need to explain to him. Amazing!!! I have sent many of my friends and everybody is very happy. read more

I have been seeing Dr Cai for about 20 years. As far as acupuncturists go, he is about as good as it gets. I usually go to him only when I have flare ups with the many back problems I have. I know I am particularly receptive to acupuncture, but it never takes more than one or two sessions to have complete relief! Dr Cai has never tried to up sell me a "package of sessions" or anything like other places seem to do. The one complaint I have is that I would like to see his office renovated, but I MUST say his place is still much more inviting and clean than your average acupuncturist who charge more money than Dr Cai. Dr Cai is very friendly and informative and I have recommended him numerous times throughout the years - he even does house calls! read more

I went in with a brace on both knees. He worked on my legs and explained everything after about his approach. He also provides a write up about the style of treatment he uses. Very informative and the results have been magnificent. After 2 appointments over the course of a few days, I am walking pain free, no brace, and am much better on subway steps. read more

The scabs on my upper back are starting to flake off, one week after Dr. Cai's finger nails did a number on me after being subject to Tui-na massage. And aside from this unpleasant experience, the accupuncture was worthless to me. Here's how it went: I went to Dr. Cai on recommendation from a friend for treatment of a sore and stiff shoulder that has been nagging me for months. On my first visit, I filled out a form indicating what my issue was. Dr. Cai comes in, looks at the sheet and asks that I lay on my side to start the accupuncture. He did not do any diagnostics on my shoulder, nor see how much mobility I had. After the needle treatment, he massaged me rather vigorously for about 10 minutes. Then he asked me to raise my arm, and he said, "See, it's much better." How the hell would he know, because he didn't check it out before hand? Despite this suspect methodology, and no reduction of my symptoms, I booked another appointment. Same thing happened on repeat visit. He didn't check my shoulder mobility. This time, however, during his massage, his nails dug into my upper back skin. I thought this was happening, but wasn't sure because the overall pain from the massage was sort of masking the feeling of his nails digging into me. Anyway, after this unhygenic practice, he did the same thing: asked me to raise my arm and said, "See it's much better." Not. When I got home, I looked at my back and it was filled with nail scratches and diggings, like I had had unforgettably wild sex with a hot chickadee. I put anti-bacterial ointment on, and canceled my next Dr. Cai appointment. I had my doubts about accupuncture in general, and this experience made my skepticism about alternative "healing" even deeper. I don't take pleasure in giving a bad review, but have to report my experience to potentially save others some money and hassle. read more

I meet Dr Cai 2months ago and I was diubled over in pain. after 1 treatment I hopped of the table like a young chippie. Now if you like taking drugs you will not like Dr Cai because after he treats you there will be no need for pain pills. read more

I just called to make a new patient appt with Dr. William Cai because his online reviews were pretty good. The minute she picked up the phone, I knew she was boarding on rude. Despite her annoyance, I made an appt and called back to give the receptionist my insurance information to make sure they took my insurance. She told me that she would check my insurance when i go into the room to receive my treatment. I asked her how would she know if I had benefits or not... she told me to call myself then and couldn't be bothered. I asked her to please cancel my appt because she was very rude and she hung up on me. I never leave negative reviews, but this is the type of service you get without even putting foot in the office... no thank you! Stay clear of this place... They need to work on training their front desk before anything else. read more

I, too, do not understand the comments about Dr. Cai and his technique. I have seen him on 3 extended occasions since 1998. The first was because of unbearable pain caused by shingles affecting my eye. His treatments were more helpful than the narcotic meds that my doctor gave me. The second was two sessions about 10 years ago for a back injury and he helped me immensely. I have been seeing him presently for a shoulder strain that interferes with my playing my violin. He has also been using tui-na as well as needles and the improvement over 3 sessions is notable. I hope to be pain-free in a few more visits. There were no finger nail bruises nor anything of the kind. There was some pain when he pressed my neck and told me that I had a pinched nerve that he massaged. Thank you Dr. Cai read more

I see Dr Cai once or twice a year because I have a physically strenuous job and lingering lower back problem. He always fixes me in one or two sessions. We don't talk much. He knows what he's doing and can tell what's wrong with me just by looking at me and watching me walk. I don't know how it all works, but it just does. read more

Dr Cai is a very good acupuncturist. I can tell he not only is skilled but works intuitively so he knows just what the patient needs. The tui na massage at end of the session i know is very helpful as i feel more energized and balanced after a session. his prices are very reasonable which helps me as i am on disability. read more

Dr. Cai is magic. a little bit of background, i saw him for the first time about 20 years ago when i hurt my knee and was limping from the pain. it felt like a torn meniscus, and i jumped from the pain every time i took a step. i had never done acupuncture but a friend recommended him highly. when i met him, i was very suspicious. i didn't fill out any forms, he didn't take a history, he didn't ask probing questions. he simply asked, where does it hurt? i pointed to me knee and he immediately went to work. he laid me on my side and stuck needles up and down my leg and my neck. i didn't feel the needles except for two, one behind my knee and one in front. those two hurt and felt uncomfortable. i lay there frozen, afraid to move and make them hurt more. but, i fell asleep after a bit. he came in after about thirty minutes and proceeded to do this Tui Na massage. i wanted to laugh. i thought it was a joke. he did all sorts of weird things like roll his knuckles up and down my back, tap me here and there, shake my shoulders, dig his nails in. i thought this was witch doctor shenanigans and that i was going to waste my money. after it was over, my knee was in even worse pain. i limped out of there and was convinced that i did more harm than good. but, lo, after fifteen minutes of walking my pain was gone. i visited him two more times. i didn't think i needed to but he said, come back to make it better. that's all he said. no after care, no expected number of times, just, come back to make it better. after the two more times, i stopped because i felt great. fast forward twenty years, and i ended up with tennis elbow. i went to my doctor who recommended rest, exercise, ibuprofen and hot/cold packs. and that's exactly what i did. for the last two months i have been popping 800 mg of ibuprofen and applying hot and cold packs every single day. nothing. a couple of days ago, i thought of Dr. Cai and figured, hey, let me give him a visit. well, guess what? nothing has changed. no history, no forms, just, where does it hurt. i told him i have tennis elbow and pointed to my elbow. he says, ah, tennis elbow. again, i'm on my side and he sticks needles up and down my arm and in my neck. the last needle went into my elbow and, woohoo, that felt like a jolt. it hurt like hell for a millisecond but then went away immediately. again, the weird massage. but, i have to say, if you relax and just go with it, it really is very relaxing and it really does feel like he's doing some weird woo energy transfer and restoration. just relax and believe in it. oh, and yes, the pain disappeared. it came back last night but is gone again. it's just magically gone! so, i'm going to see him two more times again just to be thorough. he really is magic. i don't get it. i don't understand it. but, whatever works. and, yeah, the receptionist who was there twenty years ago and is still there today is a bit abrupt. she's a nice person but she has a very curt way about her that might come across as rude to some people. you just have to be very direct with her. if she asks what time you want to come in, don't think out loud about what would be the best time, just give her the time. otherwise, she will lose patience immediately and give you the time. she's all business, don't waste her time with more words than necessary is the best way to approach her. a simple nod and hello will do, a simple thank you, just be direct and minimal with your words and you will come to like her. read more

Dr.Cai has been helping my family with a variety of issues since the mid-1980s. I had some spine herniation-related pain and stiffness and he helped me so much, with a combination of acupuncture and tui-na. I always feel so refreshed after and have recommended friends. read more

The previous review is so shocking to me. I've been to Dr, Cai many times over the last few years for both Tui Na and Acupuncture and honestly, I didnt even know he had finger nails! Especially since its not necessary to fully undress and the Tui Na is usually done through your clothing. As a wellness professional myself, I tend to be very picky about service providers and Dr. Cai has certainly earned my trust and respect. I've always had very good results and wonderfully professional service over the years, Thank you Dr. Cai! read more

Unlike Avi B., I've had excellent results from Dr. Cai for various ailments over the past decade. The first treatment I had from him, for excruciating sciatica, cut the pain 30% almost immediately and the sciatica was largely gone a few weeks later (after repeat visits). He also helped a good deal with a shoulder injury and again for an accident that wrenched my upper arm. read more

Mr. Cai is a miracle man. I was in excruciating pain and after the first session the pain was already manageable. In a few weeks, my back is back to normal. read more

I have been going to Dr. Cai for at least 10 years on and off. He has always helped me and has a gentle manner. He is very intuitive and knows just where to go. My latest appointment was a day before I was to go on an extended meditation retreat and my sciatica was so painful I could hardly walk and could not sit on the floor for more than 2 min. In one treatment, I told him I had to leave the next day, he healed me 97%....it is more than I expected and I AM forever grateful to Dr. Cai. An added note....he is an amazing opera singer! I highly recommend Dr. Cai. read more

I have been seeing Dr Cai for over 20 years. He is a miracle worker. Usually whatever pain I am experiencing is gone within 1 to 2 sessions. Over the years he has worked on my back, neck, shoulders, and feet. Yesterday I went to see him for a very painful neuroma in my left foot. Today I am pain free. Depending on the problem, be prepared to experience some pain while he is working on you. Not with the needles, but with the massage. Just gear yourself to manage it, as you will be more than pleased with the results. I highly recommend him. read more
