Exceptional. Both Jonathan Simon and Susan Hofmann have done exceptional work on me, working through a number of back issues I've had after too many flights in cramped economy seats. They both have an exceptional bed-side (table-side?) manner, and intersperse humour with professionalism, as well as an in-depth knowledge of the human body. Of late, my treatments have been entirely with Susan, and she has been amazing at finding and working out every issue I bring to her. Appointments are easy to come by, and they also don't get twisted if something happens and you need to re-schedule (although try not to do so, as this is a very small practice that has to juggle a lot of patients' needs). I'd always been afraid of acupuncture, but the good folks here helped me get over it and appreciate a new way of feeling better. Truly recommend them, whether or not you like or believe in acupuncture. You just might be surprised by it, and I'm sure the good people at NYC Points will win you over. read more

I found NYC Points through Aetna and it's awesome as I am completely covered and don't need to pay a copay! I've been to both locations (they have one on the east side and one on the upper west). Both are clean and inviting. I've only seen Imani who is wonderful. Very friendly and calming. I originally started coming here for eczema before my wedding and have continued as I have had great results. I actually haven't been there in a little over two months and am doing great! I've come here with a cold once and also another time with a stiff neck, and Imani made me good as new with one treatment on both occasions. Very impressive. At first I didn't know what to expect but I was done dealing with an expensive dermatologist who wanted to take a biopsy of my face, so I was willing to try anything else for the eczema. I am so glad I tried acupuncture because now I see for myself what my friends were raving about and I enjoy having a treatment where I can lay down in a quiet peaceful room and have 30-45 minutes to myself, possibly nod off, and have my body rebalanced and fix my ailments. I hate shots, so I was nervous at first, but 90% of the time I feel absolutely nothing when she applies the needles and removes them. Depending on the point she's placing a needle at and the ailment I may feel a dull ache at specific points only, but I have never experienced any pain or uncomfortableness. It feels nothing like a needle or shot, and I appreciates how Imani started out slow with only a few needles in the first few appointments and then worked up to more in future appointments. read more

I have been seeing Jon Simon for acupuncture treatments for more than 3 years. I started with Jon after seeing another acupuncturist who, while good, had an awful bedside manner and an inflexible approach to the business side. With Jon, I know the treatment is being delivered by someone with great skill as well as professional and someone easy to talk with. Early on, I went because of issues with my jaw. With those issues resolved, the treatment has been directed to other aches and pains. Jon also fully integrates Chinese medicine into the practice and will, when appropriate, provide supplements that complement Western treatments. Finally, if you are an athlete, especially a runner. Both were very professional and provided a relaxing, healing environment, listened to me and my concerns, and were compassionate about all of my health problems even though I'm only 25 years old. To me, Jonathan Simon is an angel sent from heaven whom successfully healed me of my facial twitching issue. For about 10 months, I suffered from from involuntary right inner ear spasm that will radiate to the right side of my face, causing my eye lid and top half of the face to twitch intensely. Whenever I speak, the intense twitching starts going off continuously and it caused me to become self conscious and desperate for help. Prior to seeing Jon, I've seen multiple specialists ranging from Neurologists, ENT and internal medicine doctor- NONE of them had any answers and kept saying its stress. I was prescribed an oral muscle relaxant at one point which did not work on my condition. I've gone to Jon for about 7 sessions and now I am happy to say, the twitching is completely GONE, my face is back!!! I was never really interested in Acupuncture generally speaking. The thought of it was really weird to me.. until I ended up with an extremely severe ankle sprain in the fall and a friend told me that it would help it heal faster. So, I called my health insurance who then gave me the number for Jon at NYPoints and also explained to me that it was completely covered by my plan! He saw me that day and started my recovery. Since, they have always super accommodating and have been able to fit me in day-of for new aches and pains. All my doctors and Physical Therapist said that my ankle healed much faster than normal, and even though they said they 'couldn't confirm' they agreed that it was most likely because of the Acupuncture. My co-worker recommended that I see Jonathan Simon after I told her of my level of stress (she and her husband both have seen Mr. Simon in the past). I called Jon instantly and requested that he check if my insurance covered, it did not. Still his price was pretty reasonable so I decided to continue on with the acupuncture. This visit was unlike any other. The mood felt right (music, lighting, etc.) and let us not forget Jon. He has a positive aura that radiates; you instantly feel comfortable. He speaks to you (feels like you are speaking to a therapist), he sticks you with needles (which I did not feel at all, I did not even know they were on my skin), and gives you an amazing massage. Some months ago I finished up my sessions here, but Id forgotten to leave a review. I suffered from low back pain and sciatica, no doubt induced from my hours and miles of road biking. I tried everything to get better, but nothing was helping. This went on for a bit over a year. My sister convinced me to try acupuncture. I was dubious, but I figured, "what the hell?" I had nothing to lose and I was fortunate enough to have insurance that covered it. In all honesty I did not expect it to help at all. I was wrong. I felt noticeable relief after my first visit. I wasn't cured by any means, but over a series of weeks and months it got better and better until I was pain free. It's been several months since I finished my sessions there and I am still pain free and Jonathan had me back on my bike riding comfortably before I finished. Incompetent. Referred to them. Went a few times. Keeps hiring acupuncturists who couldn't make it on their own in the world. Typical acupuncture office that tries to maximize insurance payments without providing professional care. Seen it all before. I have been going for acupuncture at NYC Points for several months now and highly recommend them. The offices are clean and easy to get to (very close to the 72nd St. #1 train) and the staff is very professional, friendly, and great at what they do. What is really awesome is that they take almost any type of insurance, which leaves me responsible only for the copayments. My doula suggested that I regularly go to an acupuncturist while I was pregnant. I found Jonathan Simon through my insurance and started seeing him during the second trimester. He treated me for back pain and helped get my body ready to deliver a baby. When I was told I would have to be induced, Jonathan worked with me to fit in two appointments (one with him and one with Imani Cummings) on very short notice to jumpstart the labor process so I could avoid a medicated induction. It didn't work 100%, but it worked very well. I started to feel contractions within a few days and was in labor in advance of my scheduled induction. As a result, I was able to avoid a lot of uncomfortable procedures/drugs and I only needed pitocin to increase the strength of my contractions. I credit Jonathan and Imani with the work. read more

I found NYC Points through my insurance provider suffering with an extremely paralyzing hiernated disc in my neck and shoulder. After one visit the shooting pain slowly diminshed to a dull ache. First time receiving acupuncture. My visit to NYC points was a very pleasant experience. It was my first time receiving acupuncture, and although a bit nervous I found the treatment to be very relieving and informative. The place has a very clean and calm feel. Nicely decorated, and the acupuncturists are very professional and informative. My visit began with a questionnaire and analysis of me (asking about foods, any issues I have etc.) to help better suit what type of treatment I was getting which was for stress relieving and anxiety for me. The acupuncturists, Jonathan, was not only sensitive to it being my first time, but he did a very good job at explaining each part of the process to me, which made me feel calm and also like I was a valued client. Not sure on the specifics of the treatment I received, accompanied with soothing Enya music, which I love! I honestly had never felt so relaxed. I noticed that I was able to breathe easier both during and after it, something I have a problem with at times. I am definitely going back, afterwards it was over, I felt calmer and at ease, I wasn't sure what to expect but I was happy with the result. I would recommend this place to everyone, and not to mention it is covered by insurance, so if your feeling like trying a different type of treatment for an illness you have or even simply just want to try something new to help calm you, down take a day to try acupuncture guaranteed you wont regret it.
