Sketchy ticket system. It's too far from the metro to book ahead without knowing weather conditions when the tickets are still in range of reasonable price. It's super expensive when it gets closer but you lose money if you plan ahead and turn out stormy day. They don't have easy exchange/refund process. So not again. Once and done. I can't say enough amazing things about the staff at Willamette Pass! We made a mistake when booking and it could have been a deal breaker for us skiing that day but they quickly understood and helped us rectify the situation getting us out on the slopes for an amazing day of skiing. I grew up skiing in Colorado going to resorts like Crested Butte, Winter Park, and Ski Cooper. Willamette has a small resort vibe, but some big resort runs. I just discovered this place (and my love for skiing) last year and taught my 6, 9, 11 year old kids and 35 year old wife to ski here. The season passes for kiddos 10 and under were only $40!!! For beginners, the bunny hill is actually long and steep enough to have to turn a couple of times from the top of the lift. The twilight lift is separated away from the expert runs, so the beginners gradually worked their way from duck soup to Pee-a-boo before finally doing some blue runs on Swoosh and By George. Once people get passed the beginner stage, the mountain opens up with a 6 peson detachable lift that runs at about 10mph (which is a good 1.5mph faster than the lifts at Bachelor). It gets you to top of the mountain fast and its the only lift in OR big enough for my whole family!!! There's long intermediate runs like Rotary Run and Kaleidoscope, and faster advanced runs like Eagle's run and Good time charlie. The north side of the mountain has great intermediate and advanced slopes. I brough my father from UT here, and he loved Where's Waldo which in his estimation is the perfect blue. Unlike some resorts where you have to get to the peak to enjoy scenic views, you can see Diamond Peak and Lake Odell from EVERY lift, even the bunny hill. My kiddos all got 1-2-3 ski lesson packages. The instructors were capable and patient. The only downsides is that the resort does generally a not so good job at confirming reservations for lessons or ski camp for little ones. Also the snow report is basic (only the base). Last weekend the report was trace snow at the base, but the north side definitely had 5-6 inches fresh. The lodge is fairly basic, but its easy to find every body (which I put a premium on). The tomato soup and criss-cut fries are AWESOME. In short the resort has family resort feel and pricing, great beginner and intermediate runs, but enough advanced terrain to challenge even the best skiers/riders. I've ridden most of the marked trails and been up there probably 16 times this year (still a couple of blacks I'm working towards checking off), and I haven't gotten bored yet. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. However shout out to the younger girl who hands out the snowboards downstairs and the older gentleman who was the greeter, they were seriously the only good part of my trip. Willamette Pass double charged me and is refusing to give it back, took $496 out of my account instead of $248!! Their customer service is a joke, when I tried to email to explain what happened they were nothing but snarky and I was basically told "tough luck." It has been a long back and forth conversation of them being rude and now they won't even answer my email! I've tried calling multiple times which gives no option to speak to somebody and I even talked to them at the resort before I emailed and was told the refund would "take a while, try again in two months" by the front ticket lady. Since they now won't even reply I had to open a fraudulent dispute with my bank. Not to mention while we were there every employee was down right rude (apart from two people we interacted with mentioned above) and acted like they hated their life or would rather be anywhere else. The lift operators were not attentive at all either and we saw a lot of "almost accidents" which we seriously so scary to see. This was my first and last time coming here. I'd sooo much rather spend more money traveling to Mt Bachelor then ever ever return here. At least there I know they have integrity as well as their customer's safety as a priority. It's been over a week since I posted this same review on their google and Facebook. The owner appears to have 'liked' only the good recent comments, I'm still being blatantly ignored! Willamette Pass won't blow your mind, and you'll fall asleep on the ski lift up to the top of Duck Soup, but it also won't destroy your wallet like a trip to Mt. Bachelor will. Not bad if you're a novice, might get boring if you are an experienced rider. Go now, it seems every season starts later and later at Willamette Pass. This liberal hocus pocus about "global warming" may actually have some credibility to it. Before we know it Willy Pee will look like Bolivia's Chacaltya. read more

Falling down is part of snowboarding. More so when you are starting out. Willamette pass a good place for that. With Hood and Bach prices more than a few dollars more and the amount of falling for a beginner the same, Willamette Pass a great practice mountain. On clear days the view is great and on bad days it's close enough to home you didn't waste a whole day heading out there. read more

Skiing is good if you are beginner to intermediate. Lots of good terrain. The lift to duck soup and the lift on the backside are kinda slow and it's hard to maximize your slope time skiing from lift to lift like bachelor. The major thing lacking here seems to be service, the staff is slow and marginally friendly. The service in the bar flat out sucks, the staff spend as much time talking to each other as they do serving customers. It takes forever to get a drink even if it's empty. A little more effort towards providing excellent service in all areas would go a long way. Short drive from Eugene is a plus. read more

Great location, good skiing, great value. I'll never go back -- and I've been skiing there for 20 years. A stranger attempted to take my 4-year-old while she was at ski school this January. Staff did not file a police report until four days later, did not call 911 and did not notify us, the parents, until we showed up to check on her. Staff says they did everything right. The sheriff department says "call 911". The Pass says they won't be changing procedures or training staff about how to handle this type of event. I'll be heading to Hoodoo or Hood. read more

I had a terrible experience interacting with the owner: Tim Wiser, and if I could give zero stars- I would. Just moved to Oregon from Colorado and have been able to skin up countless mountains that reside within the bounds of the U.S. Forest Service. According to Tim, Willamette Pass has a "special use permit" that means that we are not allowed to skin up the mountain even though we are not using his chairlifts and doing the work ourselves. Fair enough- except I did not know this. After one run and fully thinking that what I was doing was legal, Tim came out and forced us to buy at FULL DAY TICKET or he was going to call the police on us for trespassing. This was at about 12:30pm by the way. It should be noted that there are NO SIGNS in the parking lot or otherwise indicating that skinning up the mountain was against their rules or trespassing!! It was clear that he was not going to negotiate on this point even though it was very apparent that my friend and I had good intentions, and were not trying to get away with anything. In a way, it was almost extortion the way he forced us to come buy a full day ticket while every other customer was allowed to buy hourly rates or discounted rates. Sometimes I like to ask myself in a situation like this, "what would a reasonable person do in this situation?" My take is a reasonable owner of a resort would give a person who just moved to the area the benefit of the doubt (especially if he wants them to be a patron in the future), and either ask them to leave the premises (politely), or ask that they pay a discounted or hourly rate for the time that they DID ski on the mountain. Tim Wiser is not a reasonable person. My guess is he is super jaded from being in the business for 34 years, and in my opinion, he needs to move on. A business like his will never grow if he continues to be rude, disrespectful of peoples' situations, and not willing to listen. I have a lot of skier friends who will be visiting me at some point, and you can be rest assured I will NOT be taking them to Willamette Pass resort.
