Swimming, biking, hiking, you name it! We've enjoyed quiet evenings in the lighted outdoor gazebos and casual seating. All rooms have comfortable beds, modern restrooms and everything you could need. This coming from a girl who is obsessed with Cranberry bogs. I just love all things farming. I found us the largest orchard to visit in the Eugene area and it was spectacular. We came after brunch and walked around for a good while, admiring several of the orchards and trails. If I lived in the area I'd be here every single day. I typically walk 6-8 miles a day and nearly everyone here had a four legged friend with them, it felt like a little slice of heaven on earth. The trails were so peaceful and serene, the river flowing through in the back. It was complete tranquility. Great bird watching too! It's hard to believe a place so beautiful is free. I am most appreciative for the opportunity to spend some time here.

Baker Bay Park, is the perfect forest camp spot for anyone. For family, friends, pets or solo…read more This camping resort includes parking-lot for boats, jet ski and kayaks. Also includes decks on water for boats. Restrooms for male and female that is open 24/7. But also indoor private showers, that are closed at nighttime, open in the daytime. There are around 50 camping sites that are either close to the Dorena Lake, in the middle, closer to the woods or party sites. Every site has its own fire pit and an area for either a car, RV or a motor-home. Also provides filtered water hoes at certain places around the sites, trash bins for garbage/recycling and liquid waste disposal. SUMMARY; At this camping location you may shower, use the restroom, physical activity at the field, swim, fishing, fire wood burning (fire pit) and riding on a boat. The ideal place for physical and mental rest and overall visit.

Picnic tables, beach, I think I remember grills, a big grassy area - lots of space to spread out and enjoy the day. Seems like a GREAT place to take family and kids. As a county park, there is a no-alcohol policy. While I'm sure some people discreetly partake, that policy adds to the family friendly atmosphere. Our campsite was in the middle with very little privacy or shade, but we walked around and it was one of the only "bad" spots in the place. I reserved it unseen and shortly before we went, so I was just glad to have a spot. If I come again, I'll reserve in advance and get a water view. For us, the camping was secondary as we spent most of the day out on the water. There is a boat launch for larger vessels and a great big parking area to leave your truck and trailer. We were able to park near the grass and air up our inflatable SUPs pretty close to where we put in. We put in near the beach and spent the day paddling around and it was great fun. It's a lovely lake and we had a great time, but not the "most amazing" lake to paddle by any means. I would come again, next time with friends!

His equipment is pristine and as you know the scenery on the river was beautiful. Ron is the kind of guy that I would like to have a beer with after a day of fishing. He supplied all the gear needed, snacks, water and we even pulled off the river where he cooked us up a fantastic lunch. We come up to Oregon envy summer to visit family and I will most definitely use his services again. Next year I can't wait to bring my 3 year old out with us!

Orchard Park 60 S Parker St, Lowell, OR 97452…read moreLane County 43.917° N, -122.780° W. Orchard Park is a small, somewhat isolated U.S. Army Corps of Engineers park located about 7 miles north of Ivan Oakes Park and approximately 1.1 miles south of Lowell State Recreation Site. It sits just off the roadway, so you can see and hear passing traffic, although once you walk farther into the orchard the setting feels surprisingly secluded. See photos. This is definitely not a developed campground in the traditional sense. There is a restroom, but no water that we could find. The posted regulations specifically allow camping, along with picnicking, hiking, boating and swimming. The park itself is an interesting combination of an old orchard and open meadow. Mature trees provide areas of shade, while large sections of relatively flat, dry grass provide plenty of open space for camping. Large rocks border much of the gravel driveway and parking area, however, preventing vehicles from driving onto the open areas. If camping, expect to carry your tent, cooler and other equipment from the parking area. When we visited in early August, there was no evidence of anyone else using the park--no tents, picnickers or people along the shoreline. For a park sitting this close to the road, it felt surprisingly isolated. The reservoir and surrounding forested mountains provide a beautiful backdrop, but water access was another matter. During our visit, Dexter Reservoir was approximately 60 feet below its higher seasonal level, based on the published lake-level information we checked. There is no dock or boat ramp at Orchard Park, and the normal shoreline is already bordered by dense brush and tall grasses. Reaching the August waterline would have required working through the vegetation and then making a considerable trek across the exposed, potentially muddy reservoir bottom. This would definitely not have been my choice for launching a kayak. Previous reviews have mentioned concerns about the vegetation around the park. During our visit, we did find the vegetation near the shoreline quite dense, although the open orchard and grassy areas themselves were easy to walk through. The 60-foot difference in reservoir level also makes me curious about Orchard Park earlier in the season. I would like to return in late spring or early June when Dexter Reservoir is closer to its higher seasonal level. With the water much closer to the natural shoreline and the orchard earlier in its growing season, I suspect the experience could be considerably different. Overall, Orchard Park was a nice momentary stop along the way. Based on our August visit, I would not consider it a destination park, particularly if your primary purpose is easy access to the water. However, for someone looking for a quiet, primitive place to camp, have a picnic, explore the orchard, or simply get away from the more developed recreation areas around Dexter Reservoir, it has an interesting appeal of its own.

Hampton Boat Launch / Hampton Landing Willamette Hwy,…read moreLowell, OR 97452 Latitude: 43.81527778 Longitude: -122.5944444 We stopped at Hampton Boat Launch while exploring the upper end of Lookout Point Lake and looking for additional places where we could put our kayaks in. This is definitely one of those locations where the time of year and water level completely change what you are looking at. When we visited in late August, Lookout Point Lake was at about 844 feet elevation, nearly 80 feet below full pool. See the photos. At that level, much of the upper reservoir basin is exposed, and what you are essentially looking at near Hampton Landing is the Middle Fork Willamette River flowing through the upper end of Lookout Point Reservoir. Now imagine this same area during the spring or early summer when the reservoir is considerably higher. Much of the exposed ground visible during our visit would be underwater, creating a completely different landscape. Getting to the launch is interesting in itself. You turn off Highway 58, cross the railroad tracks, and follow a paved launch road downhill through the trees. The descent toward the water is fairly steep and continues for quite a distance. At the water level we observed, the water was well below the normal developed portion of the boat ramp. Near the bottom there is only a relatively small dirt/gravel area for maneuvering and turning around. With our kayaks, that is workable, although it would still require carrying them the remaining distance down to the water. I would be considerably more cautious bringing a larger vehicle or boat trailer down here when the reservoir is this low. One of the things I liked about the area was its character. With the reservoir drawn down, the narrow Middle Fork Willamette, surrounding forest, mountains, and railroad bridge make this feel more like a river corridor than a traditional lake access point. While walking around and checking out the launch, we also noticed numerous blackberry bushes loaded with fruit, an unexpected bonus during our exploration. We did not put the kayaks in during this visit. This was more of an exploratory stop to determine whether Hampton would work for us. It will. Hampton Landing is staying on our list. I would especially like to return in the spring or early summer and stand in the same location again. After seeing this area nearly 80 feet below full pool, it would be interesting to see just how dramatically the higher reservoir level transforms the landscape--and then finally get the kayaks on the water.
