This place rocks! Recently on cross Oregon bike tour we went through Oakridge. However our team had split up and we planned on meeting in town. Once there, I realized I did not have any cell service. I chanced upon this shop and they were so incredibly helpful. They let me get on their wifi so I could locate my friends and were super friendly and chatty even though they were so busy. Could not have been nicer or more helpful. Later after we all met up and had lunch, we went back to the shop so my friend could have a noise in his bottom bracket looked at. I had a fantastic buying experience at this shop recently. The staff here is freaking awesome. The vibe is on point - these folks LOVE to ride and they live in the right place for it - and you can feel it right when you come in. I came to Oakridge and demoed a bike for the day, had a great time and wanted to make an offer on the bike. Olivia and Marcelo discussed it for a few minutes, made sure I had a nice cozy, warm garage for her forever home, and then ultimately said 'hell yeah, let's do it!' But then Marcelo went above and beyond on some quick maintenance to get the bike ready for me. Working after the shop's closing time, he put in an extra hour of maintenance on the derailleur and rear wheel to make sure it was absolutely perfect while I got to shoot the shit with Olivia. You not only let us in early to help, but the guy in the repair shop (whose name we sadly did not get) drove home to get the exact matching stem for us and repaired the bike. We were on a road trip and not at all familiar with the area when we stopped by to take a look around and get some trail information. The guys here were so helpful. It was early in the season and lots of trails were still snow covered and they had all the current trail information and were able to give suggestions based on our skill level. We really didn't need to buy anything but we hunted around just for something to get because we felt like we owed them something for all the information. This place is great. They have a great selection and supply of products while being reasonably priced. Our crew has made it a tradition to stop by here first thing as soon as we arrive in Oakridge, to get some insight into the conditions of the local trails as well as recommendations on where to go. Also my friend was using a borrowed bike and she wanted different pedals on it, and the pedal wrench we had at home wasn't working. So, luckily the shop just took care of it. They are super friendly and nice. They also have really nice full-suspension bikes to demo for the day. For around $80. And, they even have a couple, simpler hard-tail bikes that are more basic for people that come out and don't want to hit the trails THAAAAT hard, and just want to ride around on the river/gravel trail too. So, they are very approachable. They also have a Oakridge Trail Map available for purchase for about $12, which I highly recommend purchasing. And, they have really cute designer trucker-hats. Our group definitely wanted to buy all of them. They were really cool! And, I also like that they have a public restroom that is easy to get to and clean. I strongly recommend anyone going to Mountain Bike out in Oakridge, definitely stopping by and checkin' in here first. read more

Willamette Mountain Mercantile is the best bike shop I've ever experienced! I received the greatest welcome and bike rescue from the crew there! They went above and beyond expectations. After destroying a mountain bike fork bombing down the McKenzie River on day 3 of bike packing, I limped into Oakridge on day 5 banging stanchions and having zero fun. I was immediately pelted with positive energy and heartened when the mechanics exclaimed, "We're going to solve this!" Within 45 minutes, they had replaced the front half of my bike and had me rolling out to finish 3 more days of epic bike packing! It was no small feat to find the solution as my "whip" didn't jive with any of their stock forks. Even more impressive was their attitude that helped turn around my ride. We rode back up the Middle Fork to the top of the pass the next day and finished down the NUT in fine style. A big big thanks to the shop crew! Great local bike rental shop run by great locals. They rent out $3k mountain bikes for only about $70 a day, cheaper then other places I looked and totally tailor your bike to you and your weight before you head out. I got rained out on Labor Day weekend and they were nice enough to refund some of our rental $ even though it is stated they don't do refunds. Nice, nice people who are there to help - 100% recommend this shop for all your outdoor needs. I think they also offer snow shoe and other winter type sport rentals. One suggestion would be to have printouts/ maps with driving directions to the most popular trails. Most people take the shuttles. I judge a bike shop by 2 things, well three if you count if they're out of shit I need. Key word: NEED. First: The eclectic bike monger with the dedicated tats and superfine lingo spewing from his mouth about bike stuff. Very important stuff. Makes me feel important asking if I knew the difference between metallic, and semi metallic brake pads. I guessed right! Well, Tommy Callahan number 2 is: The pure smell of butyl rubber whoffing from the shop. Love this. I've noted over several years of bike shop stuff and things, that this unmistakable smell is only made by shops that are bad fucking ass. It's like dragster smoke. You just know it's kick ass. This place has that. Major staple in Oakridge. So essentially number 4, if there was one, is if you're from out of town, clueless and lost, don't go back to Bend, stop by and get yourself hooked up proper. If you just rode Alpine and your shaved legs velodrome friend just left you in the dust, go here and buy a bike. Don't skimp. Buy the good shit. At least $7k worth. Or less. Or whatever just shell out the duckets. You won't regret it buying a brand new Ibis or Santa Cruz and when you're ready to shreddy, hop any one of the reliable shuttles driven by some of the most knowledgeable and friendly staff this side of the middle fork! WOW! After 8 years of working in the bike industry this has been the coolest bike shop I've been to. The selection of bikes, accessories, and even camping gear are all top notch, but where this shop really shines is with their service. All the employees we encountered were over the top friendly and helpful. In particular, Marcello was incredibly knowledgeable about all the local routes and helped my friends and I re route our bike tour to avoid snow on some of the local passes. I arrived in Oakridge for Mountain Bike Oregon with a brand new (never ridden) bike. I stopped in to have grips installed and pick up a saddle. Derrek took care of me right away and even took the time to fine tune the shifting and dial in my suspension. You won't find more capable mechanics anywhere.
