Honest review. I'm not writing this in spite or anger. I am writing to warn you, the viewer reading this review, what all may come about if you are attempting to contract through or are applying for a property managed through Willamette Meadows.
I lived at a single property (townhouse duplex) through Willamette Meadows for 3 years. I paid rent every month on time with no late fees. I did not destroy the property. I was what most landlords consider a good tenant.
The maintenance team was good where I lived. The primary maintenance man actually helped build the unit I was in and the units around it, and so he knew how to fix things in the house. He was friendly and helpful where he needed to be.
However, the office has never been of much help. If you rent through Willamette Meadows, steer clear of the headlights of the primary office in Salem. The treatment my roommates and I received were subpar toward the end of my tenancy. The last year I rented with Willamette Meadows they tacked on a $35 service package fee to our rent, something we had never received before. I'm not sure why we were charged this fee, as we received no additional benefits we had previously received after the service charge was required in rent.
But that was not the worst part. We had an incident with our property management shortly before I left. I was poised to move out and my roommate had intentions of staying at the same place of residence. I was the only one moving out. But because at least 2 people on the lease were not renewing, the property management treated it as if the whole place needed to be vacated to service the unit (carpet cleaning and repairs). This is a strategy the property management company uses to eat up more of the tenant's security deposit, as most of the home was under good condition and the carpets were still in good shape, unlike the 25-year-old kitchen tile flooring which had been damaged before I had entered the unit.
Willamette Meadows had given everyone in the unit (my roommate and I) the weekend to move all of the furniture in the unit into the garage and to not enter for 24-48 hours. Simple for me because I was moving out, but not so simple for my roommate who had nowhere to go. My roommate had submitted a formal email as well as multiple voicemails telling Willamette Meadows that they cannot complete the work because he has nowhere to go, and so they proceeded to charge my roommate $45 to reschedule for a time when he would not be at the home. Willamette Meadows had not given us ample time to prepare for their services, as they notified us a few days prior, and the lack of communication has been consistent throughout my time at Willamette Meadows.
The level of professionalism and communication I received from the office throughout my time renting through Willamette Meadows is the reason I am writing this review, to warn others of what may come if you choose to rent or contract through this subpar property management company. I have rented units and homes in places where the management company is much more professional and communicative with the residents. read more
